The Vancouver Whitecaps visit the Seattle Sounders for a midweek derby on Wednesday night with 1st place in the West and the Cascadia Cup on the line. In this special derby preview edition of RC, we analyze every aspect of the match up -- tactics, rest, fixture congestion, and form. Michael McColl of AFTN joins to weigh in on the big game and report from Whitecaps camp after Andrew and Ari hold a lively debate on whether Clint Dempsey should start the match or not.

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 126

    20/09/2017 Duração: 01h37min

Ep. 126 examines the Cascadian run-in in the Western Conference, with the group picking the final positioning of the table as the regular season winds down. It's a complicated picture, but seemingly a favorable one for our clubs as at least one first round bye for Cascadia looks very attainable.  We assess the relative lack of hype around the Whitecaps and their pole position in the West, including some specific arguments mentioned on Ari's website recently. Additionally, how will Robbo handle their upcoming home match with Colorado, given that a trip to Seattle follows only days later?  A brief look at Timbers' loss in Utah opens our Portland clip before we move on to looking at what would constitute a successful final four matches of the regular season for Caleb Porter.  Sounders drew 0-0 in Dallas, and we're trying to figure out whether they're playing more like a team unbeaten in 13 matches or one winless in 4.  It's gonna come down to the wire this fall, and the home stretch is just about here. • Radio Cascadia Ep. 122 - Midweek Previews

    22/08/2017 Duração: 45min

It wasn't just an unbeaten weekend in Cascadia, it was a perfect one. All three of our clubs took maximum points in important home fixtures, currently leaving each in a playoff berth.  Ordinarily, it'd be a good bet that such success would be the focus of this edition of Radio Cascadia. However with two derbies this week and midweek matches for everyone, we keep Ep. 122 focused on the future. This 45 minute installment primarily features previews of the Vancouver-Seattle derby on Wednesday as well as Portland's home tie with Colorado. The special set up allows us the flexibility to release again later in the week with more accurate previews of Vancouver's trip to Orlando and, of course, the Seattle-Portland derby on Sunday than we'd be able to provide before Wednesday's slate of matches.  We discuss the developing partnership between Fredy Montero and Yordy Reyna with AFTN's Michael McColl, also taking a look at how Carl Robinson will set up tactically against Sounders.  Will a day less rest than Whitecaps do

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 121

    17/08/2017 Duração: 01h28min

Two losses for our clubs and some bad injury developments from last weekend can't put a damper on our 2026 World Cup host city news, which headlines Ep. 121. Michael McColl of AFTN talks with Steven about Vancouver's letdown at New England and how the Whitecaps will cope without Matias Laba. Their home match against high-flying Houston, winless all-time at BC Place, is an interesting proposition. Will the Whitecaps get their big homestand off to the right start? Matt Hoffman joins the group to break down where the Timbers went wrong after 50 solid minutes in Toronto. Next up is a nationally-televised Friday night match against NY Red Bulls -- Providence Park will be rocking, but Caleb Porter's men will have to get the job done without Jake Gleeson, Liam Ridgewell, and Fanendo Adi. Can Diego Valeri, freshly apart of the elite 50/50 club, put the team on his back and carry the Timbers towards the top of the West?  Seattle broke their club record for most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal (400 minutes

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 120 - Cool Cats

    09/08/2017 Duração: 01h20min

Another unbeaten weekend in Cascadia leaves two of our clubs firmly in playoff positions and the third just on the edge looking in. Prost Portland editor Matt Hoffman discusses the reasons why Timbers aren't getting the national respect they deserve yet. That's followed by a preview of their match in Toronto, where a result would certainly send a message to anyone sleeping on Portland. It's tough to tell whether it's two point dropped or a point gained as Carl Robinson continues to tinker with his ideal front four. Michael McColl of AFTN joins and give his takes on current playoff hopes, consistency, and the coming road match against New England. Who'll make the starting lineup for the Whitecaps, and will they do enough to keep pace with the Earthquakes for the last playoff spot in the West? The group closes out Ep. 120 by analyzing Sounders' 7-match unbeaten run. Were they firing on all cylinders in Minnesota? Derlis Gonzalez isn't coming to Seattle, but that doesn't mean we don't have interesting questions

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 119

    02/08/2017 Duração: 01h22min

Four points from two matches in Texas leaves us with plenty to celebrate as we speak with Michael McColl of AFTN and Prost Portland editor Matt Hoffman about their cliubs' successes down south.  Whitecaps' 4-0 result in Frisco draws considerable attention and we rate it among their most memorable matches in MLS so far. Our preview of their match in Colorado focuses on the question of consistency, as another performance like the one against Dallas will surely earn points against the struggling Rapids.  2-2 was nothing to scoff at for Portland, but between an odd offside decision and a questionable call on a free kick leading to Houston's equalizer it's no wonder fans were left feeling it was two points dropped. Hoffman deliberates on all of the contentious moments before we move on and discuss Timbers' home match with LA this weekend.  Sounders had their own match against LA a weekend ago, and we elaborate on why it was a match no one could afford to lose. Attention then shifts to an inaugural meeting with Min

How did the high-flying Whitecaps fall so flat against 15-man Portland? Our preview of their next match, an away game at FC Dallas, contributes to the title of this episode, with two of our clubs playing in Texas this weekend.  Portland MLSsoccer.com beat writer and Prost editor Matt Hoffman chats with us about the other side of the derby. We praise Ebobisse's big performance and rate it amongst historical performances from other young Cascadians in derby matches. Our Texas Week coverage concludes with the group desperately begging Matt to assure everyone that Cascadia's futility in Houston will finally come to an end on Saturday.

What did we learn about Timbers' bench? Is Montero the biggest figure in Cascadia now? We hit these questions and more as we discuss our second rivalry game of 2017.  Player salaries were released this week, and we go over the biggest steals and worst blunders on two of our clubs' rosters. (We'll take a look at Seattle next week on Ep. 109!) Can you guess how many CM's the Whitecaps are paying 6-figure salaries to? We couldn't!  The big stadium news out of Portland gets plenty of attention. We go over its artistic merits and what it means for the future of the club.  Lastly, with Radio Cascadia Live off this weekend, we both review Sounders' big 3-0 win in LA and preview their upcoming match with New England.
