    28/03/2018 Duração: 42min

Well, that was technically an unbeaten weekend for our Cascadian sides -- it just didn't feel like it!  Ed Pham and Tenzin Choephel rate Portland's performance as they took a first-ever point under new boss Gio Savarese with a 1-1 draw in Dallas. Between a fresh formation, Blanco's sweet finish and a silly red card, there's plenty to go over before taking a look at Timbers' chances in their road contest with the Chicago Fire on Saturday. Andrew and Steven describe a hellish drive to Vancouver for Whitecaps' 0-0 draw with LA Galaxy before giving their take on why the hosts couldn't find a winner. Michael McColl of AFTN calls in to do the same and assesses Carl Robinson's response as well. Will bunker-ball get it done in Columbus this weekend? We round out our Whitecaps coverage with predictions for their tough task in Ohio.  Ari Liljenwall of MLSsoccer.com throws down a probable lineup for Seattle's home match with Montreal this weekend. It's a difficult test for Sounders without Dempsey and likely Lodeiro as

  • Ep. 144 - Baby, You're Out

    21/03/2018 Duração: 58min

Even a rather embarrassing CONCACAF Champions League exit, some red cards and a couple league defeats since Ep. 143 can't put the RC crew in a bad mood. John Marshall, Michael McColl, Niko Moreno and Ari Liljenwall all stop by to talk about the most controversial decisions of the past week as well as to preview the coming weekend's Cascadia contests.  Portland travel to Dallas in search of a first positive result of the season -- Ed Pham gives his take on a possible Timbers lineup as the group speculates on what game plan could take a result. Meanwhile in Vancouver, the Whitecaps host the only home game in the region this weekend as LA Galaxy stop by BC Place on Saturday night. Ola Kamara and a host of other starters are unavailable for Sigi Schmid, and we explore how Vancouver can take advantage of the situation with both Michael McColl and John Marshall. A review of the World Cup host situation also features in Ep. 144.  Playlist: 02:00 - VWFC: Waston's red, World Cup bid saga, LA Galaxy preview 21:00 - PTF

    07/03/2018 Duração: 01h11min

The first weekend of MLS action is in the books, and we're glad to have some meaningful soccer to talk about even if the results didn't all go our way. Sounders stumbled at home against LAFC as they prepare for Chivas in the CCL Quarterfinals, while Portland dropped a 2-1 decision to LA's other club in Gio Savarese's first outing as head coach. Tenzin Choephel shares his experiences from the Stubhub Center in our Timbers segment, as well as some exclusive audio from Marco Farfan. Their next test is an away fixture with the New York Red Bulls, another side likely to see their league form affected by Champions League participation. Will Savarese and the new-look Timbers pick up their first win of a new era in Harrison?  Ari Liljenwall throws cold water on the idea that Seattle should be concerned after their opening day stinker against the league's newest side before our Sounders discussion turns to the upcoming series with Chivas. What do Sounders need to accomplish before taking a week off in preparation for

    31/01/2018 Duração: 01h32s

Radio Cascadia is a weekly podcast covering soccer in the Pacific Northwest with a focus on MLS clubs Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps. The show is an authoritative steward of the Cascadian perspective, representing the most passionate, unified and unique fan bases in the country. Their passion is well justified, not only by the clubs' nearly fifty years of shared history but also thanks to rampant success in the MLS era. Since 2011 (the first year all three clubs had made the switch over to the top flight from the USL), Cascadian MLS sides have won a combined total of five major trophies. Additional honors in that time frame include two CONCACAF Champions League semifinal appearances, three consecutive MLS Cup berths, and six consecutive Western Conference Championship appearances. The latter two statistics above are active streaks, and clubs in Cascadia have just over a month of preseason left to prepare for their chance to continue these streaks on the stage of the 2018 MLS campai

We finish our Timbers segment by discussing their moves on Contract Deadline Day.  Michael McColl of AFTN joins to update us on Whitecaps' relationship with Fresno's new USL club. Vancouver freed up a massive amount of salary cap space on Contract Deadline Day, and some of the cuts hinted at possible additions coming this offseason. Others don't have an immediate explanation, like the decision to decline Nosa Igiebor's option. We touch on all the transactions and then move on to our Seattle segment.  After seven years of futility a Cascadian club finally picked up a win in Houston last Tuesday, defying almost a decade of misfortune on the biggest stage imaginable. • Radio Cascadia Ep. 131 - Week of Firsts

    28/10/2017 Duração: 01h31s

Vancouver's 5-0 win over San Jose in the Western Conference Knockout Round has left the region in prime position -- of four sides remaining in the West, the three highest seeds all belong to Cascadia. Our chances at an all-Cascadian Conference Final have never been better, and the RC crew's awfully excited about it. We review Whitecaps' big win at BC Place before we tackle the first-ever MLS playoff meeting between Seattle and Vancouver. Whitecaps' momentum, Sounders' health and rest days dominate the discussion.  SKC's out in the Knockout Round for the third year running, bowing out at Houston. Seems like Vermes' men will be up for it when they get another playoff shot against one of our sides, so bullet dodged there. As a result, Timbers will travel to Texas to try and grab a first Cascadian win in Houston, and in the biggest of circumstances. Our preview of the Timbers-Dynamo series concludes Ep. 131.

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 130: Western Conference Sweep

    25/10/2017 Duração: 01h14min

For the first time in MLS history our Cascadia clubs have finished in the top three spots in the Western Conference! It's an incredible achievement for the region and gives us a great shot at seeing a Cascadian MLS Cup winner for a third year running.   Portland's big win over Vancouver on Decision Day not only won them their second Western Conference regular season crown, but the Cascadia Cup as well! We congratulate the Timbers for a gutsy derby comeback and ponder who their ideal Western Conference Semifinal opponent would be.  Our other Decision Day match up saw Seattle down Colorado 3-0 in a match that ended with each side a man down. Dempsey's red card and Lodeiro's new position are both discussed. Ari gives an update on Sounders' injury situation. The crew assesses Seattle's 2nd place finish in their title defense season.  Vancouver can't afford to dwell on two frustrating results to end the regular season, granting them the 3rd seed in the West. They play San Jose at BC Place for the second time in te

  • Radio Cascadia Ep. 129 - Decision Day 2017

    18/10/2017 Duração: 01h20min

The penultimate weekend of the 2017 MLS campaign brought disappointment for the Vancouver Whitecaps as they failed to clinch the Western Conference crown in a home match with San Jose. However, the mood across the region as a whole is a joyous one -- all three of our clubs will make the postseason for only the second time ever in MLS play. Furthermore, it seems they're likely to finish 1-2-3 in the West!  The gang reviews all the action from the last Sunday before moving on to preview the Decision Day slate. Is our final Cascadia derby of the regular season, Vancouver @ Portland, the most important league match ever in Cascadia? The winner (or Vancouver, in the event of a draw) will finish atop the Western Conference. Michael McColl of AFTN joins us to discuss this question and many others as we dive deep into this historically important match up.   Jeff Lageson, Prost Amerika NWSL correspondent, calls in to discuss the Thorns' title win in Orlando, and sticks around the recap the Reign's season as well.  201

Tenzin Choephel and Ed Pham join the show to discuss Sounders' 3-0 win over Vancouver on Wednesday. The group then moves on to preciew a full weekend slate in Cascadia, with all three of our clubs facing tricky road tests as they battle for a top-2 finish in the Western Conference. Diego Valeri MVP talk pops up again, and we debate the importance of Seattle's tactical shift in the midweek.
