8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus leads by example in showing His disciples how to heal the sick, cast out demons and proclaim the good news of the coming Kingdom. He then sends them out in Luke 9 with power and authority to do as He taught them. Today we look at 4 lessons we can learn from this passage: 1) Proclaim the Kingdom of God 2) Know What Herod Did Not 3) Learn the Lesson of Hospitality 4) Trust in God's Provision

3 And he said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics.

25 “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,    and he will stand upon the earth at last.26 And after my body has decayed,    yet in my body I will see God!27 I will see him for myself.    Yes, I will see him with my own eyes.    I am overwhelmed at the thought!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;    the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin."

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

This Sunday we hear a first hand account from "Jairus" of what Jesus did for him. When we cry out to Jesus in desperation, He hears us, He answers us, and He moves towards us. Have you been waiting for Jesus to move in your life? Cry out to him in desperation and He will respond.

45 And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter[a] said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.” 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:“Death is swallowed up in victory.”55 “O death, where is your victory?    O death, where is your sting?”56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

39 “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.

13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

"And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him."

Pastor Aaron is back this week so we dive back into our Luke series. Jesus is Greater than demons. Jesus is Greater than any other prophet, king, or judge in all of history. When all is said and done will we be more like the townspeople who feared and rejected Jesus or will we be more like the renewed-man who shows devotion and obedience to the King?

22 And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers[a] are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. 23 And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”

Isaiah's Vision of the LordIn the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;the whole earth is full of his glory!”4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”Isaiah's Commission from the Lord8 And I heard the voice of the

3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

The Woe of the Wicked is coming for all those who are not in Christ, and no one knows the day or the hour of His coming. Don't wait another day!! Prepare yourself for the judgement of the Lamb. May we be found ready at His return.
