  • Bi Any Means Podcast #132: The Iranian Protests with Kaveh Mousavi

    11/01/2018 Duração: 29min

Returning to the show today is Iranian atheist blogger Kaveh Mousavi to talk about last week’s Iranian protests. As you’ll hear in this interview, Mousavi is a bit more skeptical of the effectiveness of the protests than Armin Navabi was last week on The Thinking Atheist. Consider my conversation with Mousavi as a companion piece to Seth Andrews’ conversation with Navabi. Hopefully between these two interviews, listeners will have a better understanding of the political situation in Iran.Links:•On the Margin of Error blog: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/marginoferr/ •Kaveh on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kaveh.mousavi.35 •Armin Navabi on The Thinking Atheist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ1HNT8Q5nU •NBC News on the Iranian Protests: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/iran-protests-end-regime-now-faces-race-against-time-experts-n836026 •The Trans Podcaster Visibility Initiative: https://www.facebook.com/transvisiblepodcaster/ •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.a

  • Bi Any Means Podcast #131: Top 10 Favorite Episodes of 2017

    04/01/2018 Duração: 01h02min

Today on the show I’m counting down my top ten favorite episodes of 2017. It’s a similar structure to last year’s best of 2016 episode, but because Spreaker doesn’t list most downloaded episodes in numerical order anymore and I’m too lazy to do the math myself, I decided to just list my personal favorite episodes from this past year instead. That way I can highlight episodes that didn’t get a lot of downloads.Links:•The Secular Barbershop: http://www.thesecularbarbershop.com/ •The Trans Podcaster Visibility Initiative: https://www.facebook.com/transvisiblepodcaster/ •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •The Bi Any Means/Biskeptical Podcast Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179617892470906/ •Email: bianymeanspodcast@gmail.com •Listener line: 410-690-3558 •My Patreon

  • Bi Any Means Podcast #130: A Very Gaytheist Friendsmas

    28/12/2017 Duração: 01h33min

Today’s episode is the live Friendsmas show I was a part of on Christmas Eve with Callie and Ari from the Gaytheist Manifesto and Marissa and Aiden from the Inciting Incident. We talked about surviving the holidays as trans people when we’re stuck with reminders of who we used to be and not-so supportive relatives, plus a little bit about my struggle to give myself permission to be myself, along with a tangent about avocado toast for some reason.Links:•The Gaytheist Manifesto: http://www.thegaytheistmanifesto.com/ •The Inciting Incident: http://www.incitingincident.libsyn.com/ •I Doubt It with Dollemore: https://dollemore.com/ •The Trans Podcaster Visibility Initiative: https://www.facebook.com/transvisiblepodcaster/ •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •The Bi Any Means/Biskeptic

  • Bi Any Means Podcast #129: The Recovery Diaries—A Monologue

    21/12/2017 Duração: 18min

Today’s episode is going to be another monologue episode. Today’s going to be a very bare-bones episode where I talk about my drinking problem and the steps I’m taking toward recovery. It’s going to be pretty raw, just to give you all a head’s up, so you might want to skip this episode if you’re not in a good space. For everyone else—especially those struggling—I hope this episode will benefit you in some way.Links:•The Trans Podcaster Visibility Initiative: https://www.facebook.com/transvisiblepodcaster/ •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •The Bi Any Means/Biskeptical Podcast Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179617892470906/ •Email: bianymeanspodcast@gmail.com •Listener line: 410-690-3558 •My Patreon page: http://www.patreon.com/tmamone•PayPal link: http://payp

She spoke at a Moral Mondays event in North Carolina, and at the ‘We are Woman’ rally in Washington DC. Kimrey's first encounter with activism was in Jacksonville, when a same-sex couple had to pay extra for a family membership at the ‘Hands-On Children's Museum’ because the museum argued they weren't ‘really a family.’ After she returned to North Carolina, Kimrey started to notice Pat McCrory and started going to "Moral Monday" protests. Kimrey is also the author of the blog ‘Functional Human Being,’ which contains a collection of political writings, opinions, personal insights and occasional accompanying music video.” And today I’ve go

  • Bi Any Means Podcast Bonus Episode: RIP Scott Smith [Show Notes Edited]

    27/11/2017 Duração: 09min

*UPDATE 11/28/17: After talking with several friends today on Facebook and looking back at this episode, I realized that I brushed over the fact that Scott killed his wife, and for that I apologize. I should have recorded this after giving myself time to process the tragedy before recording. For now I will leave this episode online for accountability, but if needed I will delete this.If you're in a domestic violence situation, go to The National Domestic Violence Hotline at www.thehotline.org.***I lost a friend today. This is a short unedited unscripted tribute.

  • Bi Any Means Podcast #125: Friendsgiving with Marissa McCool and Jessica Xiao

    23/11/2017 Duração: 41min

Today’s a special Friendsgiving episode with two friends of mine, Marissa McCool and Jessica Xiao. Instead of awkward dinner conversations with your racist uncle, this conversation is going to be about some things that have been on my mind lately about social justice activism, such as self-care, perfectionism, and radical vulnerability.I’m releasing this a few hours earlier than usual for three reasons. First, in case anyone’s traveling for the holiday you can listen to this on the ride. Second, if you’re surrounded by shitty relatives, you can listen to this to drown out their bullshit. And third, by the time I usually release new episodes, 4 pm Eastern, I’ll probably be in the midst of a food coma, so better take care of it now while I’m still coherent. • Bi Any Means Podcast #120: PASTAHcon Recap

    19/10/2017 Duração: 14min

Today’s episode is another monologue episode. This time I’m sharing my experiences at PASTAHcon this past weekend. I brought my Zoom H4N portable recorder with me just in case I found someone to interview for the show, and while I met a lot of people that I would love to have on the show in the future, it was much easier for me to just listen to the talks and hang out with friends than try to chase someone down to talk to me for five minutes. Also, I was originally planning on inviting a guest for this week, but since I’m recording the Biskeptical Podcast this week with Morgan and I have a few other projects I need to do, I figure just turning on the mic and talking about this past weekend would be less of a hassle. • Bi Any Means Podcast #114: Activist Theology with Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza

    07/09/2017 Duração: 34min

My guest for today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, a radical trans queer Latinx public theologian. Here's what their bio says: “Knowing intimately that the borderlands are a place of learning and growth, Robyn draws on their identity and heritage as a Transqueer Latinx in everything that they do. From doubt to divine and everywhere in between, their call as an activist-theologian demands the vision to disrupt hegemony and colonialist structures of multi-layered oppressions. As an anti-oppression, anti-racist, non-binary Trans*gressive Latinx, Robyn takes seriously their call as an activist theologian and ethicist to bridge together theories and practices that result in communities responding to pressing social concerns. Robyn sees this work as a life-orienting vocation, deeply committed to translating theory to action, and embedded in re-imagining our moral horizon to one which privileges a politics of radical difference.” Which is why Robyn’s joining me today to talk about everything they do!Links:•Robyn
