We dive into Halloween books we never got to this June and start with Archie comics classic Sabrina with an occult twist. A Halloween book we never got around to is covered this week. Fred Van Lante’s Dark Horse mini series that genre bends pulp detective noir with Lovecraft mythos, and Martian Manhunter homages. It is fun and Dad eats cookies the entire podcast. Next Week: Peter David era Hulk

Patrick and Dad get into historical depths of the Iraq War with anthropomorphic animals from Brian K Vaughan and Niko Henrichon’s Pride of Baghdad. Spoiler free and politically light but there is a great deal of war discussion. Next Week: Weird Detective

Patrick and Dad are back on the beat with a run of comics that Patrick has wanted Dad to read for around three years the 2008 run of Old Man Logan. Folks, Dad gets this one, he rolls with it, close the shop and end the show. The treat was Easter based apple pie coated in walnuts and raisins. Next Week: Pride of Baghdad

This week is a struggle session in which we have a massive battle to dissect and interpret Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze Black Panther relaunch. Patrick tells a Pulitzer winner how to write and Dad tells an artist how to draw, plus we eat bad apple pie. Next Week: One Punch Man

Less heavy lifting from Patrick as Dad understands more of Darwyn Cooke’s 2004 mini series retelling the Silver Age origins of DC comic book heroes. We both love the Flash in this comic though. We eat too many fritters and discuss proper Paczki with prunes and or cream filling. Next Week: Black Panther A Nation Under Our Feet

This week we explore future water wars and American / Canadian relations with Brian K Vaughan and Steve Skroce created mini series We Stand On Guard.from Image Comics. Patrick is luke warm on the story and does not know what this is playing at in the end. Dad thinks is is all about a fight for resources. Both are bowled over by the cinematic artwork and clean storytelling. The treat this week is Smuckers crustless peanut butter sandwiches.

Dad and Patrick begin their quest of tearing through comics suggested by listeners in the year 2017. First up is JLA Liberty Files. Earth 40 of the DC multiverse in which the JSA superheros are top secret agents fighting against Axis forces. Next Week: The Wicked + The Divine
