  • S9 E7: Gut-wrenching defeat (Arsenal, 1-3)

    04/09/2023 Duração: 50min

It has become an all-too-familiar feeling walking out of the away end at the Emirates and across the bridge past those big Arsenal letters thinking ‘what could have been?’ ‘how close was that?’ and, really, more than anything, ‘for fuck sake’. For a second successive year, an Argentine celebrated with intensity and passion as United appeared en route to a famous victory. Last year, Lisandro Martinez’s brilliant header was made futile by a 90th-minute winner checked by VAR. This year, Alejandro Garnacho’s wonderfully composed one-on-one finish was ruled out for the tightest of offsides and Declan Rice’s 96th-minute deflected strike won it for Arsenal. Gutting. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast this week, Harry Robinson and Jack Tait discuss some positives, several pieces of significant off-the-pitch news (most of it bad), and a 10-goal thriller for the Academy, plus several deadline day signings. • S9 E6: Arsenal Preview (and Forest, 3-2)

    30/08/2023 Duração: 44min

*Patrons get 25 minutes extra* Manchester United’s start to this season is confounding. Erik ten Hag’s Reds appear constantly on the edge of breakdown, and always close to defeat, too, and yet six points from the opening nine is a respectable beginning to any campaign. Old Trafford stood in shock as United conceded twice in four minutes against Nottingham Forest, but there remained a sense of confidence and defiance, and justified it proved for a 3-2 comeback victory followed. Further injuries have followed to deepen the sense of crisis in M16, but it’s an away trip this weekend, to Arsenal. Back to London, where our record has been so poor recently, for a huge challenge at the Emirates. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast this week, Harry Robinson and Jack Tait preview Sunday's match at Arsenal in detail today, as well as looking back on the Forest fixture. They also play Guess the Player, give you your extensive youth round-up with a double-digit win for the U21s. Patrons will get a 25-minute bonus sect

  • S9 E5: Early concerns, Greenwood (Spurs, 0-2)

    21/08/2023 Duração: 50min

One cloud has cleared. Mason Greenwood will not play for Manchester United again. Several more remain. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast, Harry Robinson and Jack Tait discuss defeat in North London, Mason Greenwood and preview Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest. They play Guess the Player, give you your regular Academy briefing and answer questions like ‘has everyone reacted after two games of the season?’ ‘how do United move on from here?’ and ‘have referees set a dangerous precedent?’ In the Q&A, exclusive to our Patreons, the Reds talk about who’d win a Premier League 5-a-side tournament, what kind of work they're both up to at the moment and the three steps to make MUFC competitive. 29/05/2023 Duração: 22min

Happy end of the Premier League season. Erik ten Hag’s post-match message was clear: there is one game to go. On this bitesize start-of-the-week episode of the Manchester United Weekly Podcast, Harry Robinson and Jack Tait discuss United’s final two league games, consider how close United Women came to a first WSL title and a couple of other bits and bobs. • S8 E55: Victory at Bournemouth, United Women's title race

    22/05/2023 Duração: 33min

Manchester United need only one point to secure UEFA Champions League qualification via a Premier League top-four finish after results elsewhere went in their favour and a piece of Brazilian brilliance from Casemiro enabled victory away at AFC Bournemouth. In the Women's Super League, United Women scored in injury time to keep the title race alive and achieve a first league victory over rivals Manchester City. There's plenty to talk about. In our bonus Q&A available exclusively for Patreons, we try to name as many of Sir Alex Ferguson's final matchday squad a decade on, discuss Weghorst and Sabitzer's future, strikers, and how United can possibly overcome this City juggernaut in the FA Cup final. • S8 E54: Wolves (2-0, h) + Women's FA Cup Final

    14/05/2023 Duração: 46min

On a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford and in a rare 3pm kick-off, Manchester United delivered with 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho sealing a deserved victory in a must-win game as the Reds close in on that top four spot in the Premier League and Champions League qualification. Three games remain, away at Bournemouth and at home to West London duo Fulham and Chelsea. Two more victories will secure it. If they are as comfortable as Saturday, that’ll do. Wolves hadn’t a single shot on target while United had nine, and should have scored more. Erik ten Hag aptly reviewed: “Again we make the goalie of the opposition the man of the match.” Down at Wembley on Sunday, things were not so rosy. A world record crowd watched Manchester United Women’s first FA Cup final but the Reds couldn’t convert a dominant, expectation-shattering first-half display into an advantage and instead it was relentless winners Chelsea who were clinical and won it 1-0 with Sam Kerr scoring in a third consecutive FA Cup final.

  • S8 E53: Aston Villa (1-0, h)

    01/05/2023 Duração: 43min

Champions League qualification is edging closer. A disheartening draw at Tottenham Hotspur threatened to derail matters slightly but a well-deserved victory at home to high-flying Aston Villa restores Manchester United’s grip on a spot in the Premier League’s top four, captain Bruno Fernandes scoring the decisive goal. United Women took on Villa, too, in a brilliant weekend for the club all round, Millie Turner scoring a 93rd-minute winner to maintain United’s title hopes and keep them three points clear at the top of the Women’s Super League. The U21s played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Spurs while the U18s’ frenetic late season fixture schedule continued with a thrilling 4-3 win away at Sunderland including another goal for the exciting young prospect Shea Lacey. All of that is reviewed on the latest Manchester United Weekly Podcast with hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait. Enjoy the show! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • S8 E52: FA Cup Finalists

    24/04/2023 Duração: 41min

Bald is best! Hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait revel in penalty shoot-out victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley that has earned Manchester United a spot in 3 June's FA Cup final. It felt for a long time like a game set to be decided by a moment of genius or a mistake, and that was the case. United’s penalties were infallible. Brighton... well, they eventually missed. It’s been quite the week. The most disheartening of performances and defeats in Seville sent us out of the Europa League, and then this. Also in today's episode, news of defeats for the U21s, back-to-back wins for the U18s and a huge update in the WSL title race. Plus plenty of noise from a euphoric Wembley. • S8 E51: Forest (2-0, a)

    17/04/2023 Duração: 01h07min

On a Premier League weekend with more banana skins than Mario Kart, injury-struck Manchester United avoided theirs away at Nottingham Forest. Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen — a late addition to the starting line-up — purred in midfield. Antony's tenacity and confidence have earned them the plaudits, as well as a good goal and a fine assist. Now Erik Ten Hag’s side travel to Sevilla requiring victory to reach the Europa League semi-finals. They’ll return to England straight after and prepare for an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against perhaps the in-form team of English football: Brighton. Round one of the United v. Brighton FA Cup semi-final has gone to the red corner. Manchester United Women made history on Saturday evening. It was difficult but in a classic cup tie, Marc Skinner’s side prevailed thanks to a clinical Rachel Williams finish, a 3-2 victory taking them to their first-ever major final where they’ll face Chelsea in mid-May. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast with Harry Robinson and Ja
