Episódios

  • S9 E26: Humbled at home (AFC Bournemouth, 0-3)

    11/12/2023 Duração: 46min

Hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait review a humbling home defeat to a well-organised AFC Bournemouth side who deserved their victory and more. United have lost little ground in the race for the top four because of results elsewhere, but Saturday afternoon’s match was a really damning indictment on the team right now. Where do the Reds go from here? Who takes the majority of the blame? What lessons are there to be learned? Those questions and many more will be answered, or at least debated, on the latest episode of the Manchester United Weekly Podcast. As well as reviewing that game, the Reds preview matches against Bayern Munich - who had their own shock defeat - and Liverpool - who required another late winner - and discuss plenty more. They play Guess the Player, give you an Academy briefing and Patrons get a 15-minute bonus Q&A in which we talk the January transfer window, amongst other things. Learn more about your ad choices. But if you want an insight into matchday at MUFC and what it feels like to watch a game from the Stretford End, enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • S9 E24: Jaw-dropping, then absurd, then insipid

    04/12/2023 Duração: 01h04min

After last week's unintended break, hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait return to take a big-picture look at Manchester United by reviewing three away games at once: one win, one draw and one defeat. Avoiding the obvious narratives around the Newcastle defeat, they consider the problems and potential solutions for Erik ten Hag's spluttering Reds. Breaking up our big-picture discussion is Guess the Player, the Academy Briefing, some top MUFC trivia and a preview of Wednesday's game against Chelsea. Learn more about your ad choices. • S9 E21: The league's most in-form team, somehow (Luton, 1-0; Copenhagen, 3-4)

    12/11/2023 Duração: 47min

Manchester United… the most in-form team in the Premier League... apparently! It doesn’t feel like it, but, somehow, that’s four league wins in five games for Erik ten Hag’s Reds. It was hardly convincing; United failing to convert some good chances again and going through another game without a forward scoring. Victor Lindelof was the unlikely match-winner in a one-goal home victory over Luton Town. Earlier in the week, we did see a forward score. And twice. Rasmus Hojlund continued to show his excellence on the European stage by putting United two ahead at his old club. A wonderful performance disrupted by a nonsensical refereeing decision, in the aftermath of which United crumbled a little. 2-2 and then back in front, a Fernandes penalty. But then behind again, 4-3. A gutting result after some really positive signs. So, lots to review from one win and one defeat on the latest episode of the Manchester United Weekly Podcast with hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait. We discuss the positive signs in midfield o

  • S9 E20: A lifeline (Fulham, 1-0)

    05/11/2023 Duração: 45min

A lifeline! Bruno Fernandes steps up for Manchester and the pressure eases after a truly demoralising week. Derby defeat preceded a dismantling at the hands of Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup and Old Trafford hasn’t felt quite as glum as that for many moons. Cue a trip to Fulham, often a useful antidote. And cue another late winner at Craven Cottage. Thank you very much! Hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait react to a rare win for Erik ten Hag's United. But will it kickstart the season? What does Ten Hag's team selection say about his attitude at the moment? Other issues discussed include a necessary talk about Harry Maguire's head injury, Diogo Dalot's performance against Newcastle, what team United should start at Copenhagen and more. Harry gives the Academy Briefing, including info on an U21s league victory and what it was like at last week's EFL Trophy match at Salford City. In the Patreon-exclusive Q&A, we talk what's behind Antony's poor form, what is the best and worst case scenario for MUFC this sea

  • S9 E10: Painful growing process, or just bad? (Brighton, 1-3)

    18/09/2023 Duração: 50min

Six points from a possible 15 (despite the slip of the tongue in the intro!) to start Manchester United’s season. 10 goals conceded in four games. These are two of the many stats that sum up the dire start to the 2023/24 campaign for Erik ten Hag’s team and once again we are left asking, is this a fair reflection of the team? And where the answer in previous games might have been no, perhaps this time, the answer is yes. Brighton & Hove Albion rode out the early dominance of United and then raced away after half-time. Young Hannibal scored a fantastic long-range goal to reduce the deficit, but that was about it for United’s response. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast this week, it's time to dissect it. Hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait review defeat to Brighton, preview a glamorous trip to Bayern Munich, compete at Guess the Player and give you your regular Academy Briefing. Patreons get ad-free, early access to this episode plus the usual bonus section where we decide whether Ten Hag will be here in 1

  • S9 E7: Gut-wrenching defeat (Arsenal, 1-3)

    04/09/2023 Duração: 50min

It has become an all-too-familiar feeling walking out of the away end at the Emirates and across the bridge past those big Arsenal letters thinking ‘what could have been?’ ‘how close was that?’ and, really, more than anything, ‘for fuck sake’. For a second successive year, an Argentine celebrated with intensity and passion as United appeared en route to a famous victory. Last year, Lisandro Martinez’s brilliant header was made futile by a 90th-minute winner checked by VAR. This year, Alejandro Garnacho’s wonderfully composed one-on-one finish was ruled out for the tightest of offsides and Declan Rice’s 96th-minute deflected strike won it for Arsenal. Gutting. On the Manchester United Weekly Podcast this week, Harry Robinson and Jack Tait discuss some positives, several pieces of significant off-the-pitch news (most of it bad), and a 10-goal thriller for the Academy, plus several deadline day signings.
