Episódios

  • AGP#045 – The McDonald's Teriyaki Burger, Pride of Japan

    12/02/2014

It's been three months, but we're back! This time Evan and David talk about anime that's just old enough that you no longer care enough to be angry about it and video games so old you don't even remember them anymore. Topics include Super Sonico, Nidhog, Mother (the original, not Earthbound), Cardcaptor Sakura, Inside Mari, being a tourist in Japan, being a BAD tourist in Japan, Japanese food, and oddly-specific otaku stores. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#044 – Sold My Soul to Crunchyroll

    31/10/2013

In this episode (our THIRD episode this year — crazy, huh?), Evan, Ink, and David chat about some anime and video games that they've been watching and playing, including the Fall 2013 anime season! Topics include failed superheroes, poorly timed apocalypse stories, interminable space brotherhoods, hyperactive tennis clubs, magical glasses, fascist high schools, frog rappers, and the profound pain of game development. We talk about Kill la Kill for a while, so that's kind of the main topic of this show. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#043 – Otakon 2013 Carcast

    13/09/2013

In this episode we make the mistake of trying to record a podcast in a moving car! Evan and Ink, exhausted from a weekend at Otakon 2013 talk about the ups and downs of the convention with Vinnie (http://www.allgeeksconsidered.com) and Vince Averello. The audio quality isn't great, but for a podcast recorded on a portable recorder in a car, I think we did a damn good job. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#042 – Mysterious Girlfriend X

    03/06/2013

It's been far too long since we've put out a podcast, so here's a little discussion of the drooleriffic 2012 anime series Mysterious Girlfriend X, featuring Ani-Gamers contributing editor Ink and our two buddies from across the pond, Phillip O'Connor (Ani-Gamers columnist) and former Ani-Gamer Elliot Page. Evan is also there to do the intro/outro and ask a few questions, but seeing as he never watched the show, he mostly just listens this time. NOTE: The podcast has some mild spoilers for Mysterious Girlfriend X. If you're in the area, remember to come out to AnimeNEXT 2013 this weekend in Somerset, NJ to see Ink and Evan (he's running two panels: "The Beautiful Backgrounds of Anime" and "Panel Lightning Round"). Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#041 – Laser Claws and Robot Sex

    30/10/2012

In this episode, Evan is joined by indie comics writer Rachel Pandich (http://rachelpandich.com/) and anime blogger/podcaster Kate (a.k.a. Narutaki) from http://reversethieves.com to discuss Western (i.e. non-manga) comics that appeal to anime and manga fans. They also talk about New York Comic Con and Masaaki Yuasa's Kick-Heart Kickstarter, which is about to hit its deadline TONIGHT (10/30) after reaching its goal a few days early. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#040 – Goin' to Anime Club

    29/09/2012

David and Evan make their long-awaited return to talk about Magic Knight Rayearth, Fruits Basket, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Darker Than Black, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Summer 2012 anime, the Neo Geo Pocket Color, and ... Animorphs? This show was recorded LIVE in Evan's apartment, which means it has approximately 50% better jokes and 70% fewer awkward pauses than a typical episode of the Ani-Gamers Podcast (based on real science). We tried a slightly different, slightly looser format than usual for this episode. Drop us a line at our email address (linked below) if you like it! Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! • Pirate ANNCast: Otakon 2012

    31/07/2012

For years we have languished under the oppression of our ANNCast overlords (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anncast/), who refuse to even record a podcast at the East Coast's largest anime convention, Otakon. So, with the help of our fearless captain Ed Sizemore (http://mangaoutloud.com/), an intrepid team of Otakon pirate podcasters — including our very own Evan Minto — have hijacked the Anime News Network's famous podcast to talk about Otakon 2012. Unfortunately the audio recording is one iteration away from Alvin Lucier's "I Am Sitting in a Room" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Sitting_in_a_Room), but I guess it's in keeping with the pirate theme. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#039 – Spelunky is Pretty Underground, You Probably Haven't Heard of It

    26/07/2012

Just in time for Otakon 2012, we've got a quick little podcast check-in from Evan Minto and David Estrella. We talk about our Otakon plans as well as what we've been watching/reading/playing. This includes the Muv-Luv visual novels, Black Jack (manga), Mars (manga), Bodacious Space Pirates, Spelunky, and The Dark Knight Rises (yeah it's not anime, manga, or games, but we keep the discussion of it to a minimum). No show notes this time, since I need to pack for Otakon. (Also I apologize in advance for any audio problems I might have missed in my lightning editing session.) Hopefully we'll see some of our listeners this weekend! Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#038 – The Evangelion of Anime (Madoka Magica Review)

    28/06/2012

What? Huh? What's a podcast? We're not even sure anymore. But luckily David Estrella is here to help re-discover the true meaning of podcasting in the latest episode of the Ani-Gamers Podcast. Unfortunately, he doesn't help our host Evan Minto remember to introduce himself. Whoops! In this episode, we talk about crying anime girls, genre deconstructions, and spurious voice acting performances as we tackle the hugely popular magical girl anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Don't worry if you haven't seen the show — we've separated our spoiler talk into a separate section of the podcast after the outro song. Everything in the main section is free of Madoka spoilers (though we might slip in some spoilers for older series on occasion). Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • Anime World Order Show # 104 – The [Sword for] Truth Has Set Us Free

    10/02/2012

We've been having a decent amount of guests on lately, huh? This time we are joined by Evan Minto from the Anigamers podcast and Genericon staff to talk about--PER HIS REQUEST--the notoriously disliked Sword for Truth by Osamu Dezaki and Akio Sugino. Visit www.animeworldorder.com for full show notes and supplemental links.

  • AGP#037 – Spicy Wolf, Made with Real Wolf!

    30/01/2012

What's that? SIX MONTHS? Well, if you listen to the Ani-Gamers Podcast, I guess you're probably used to super-long waits by now. Anyway, we're back, and we're starting off the year 2012 with something very timely and totally not recorded in the spring of last year: a review of the 2008 Spice & Wolf anime with Evan, Ink, and THEM Anime Reviews' very own Bradley C. Meek (themanime.org). Prepare for economics, wolf girls, and infuriating moé shepherds. That, plus a few mild spoilers, but there honestly isn't much worth spoiling in this show. (Check the show notes for timecodes if you're really spoiler-phobic.) We're also trying out some new intro and outro music, so we would appreciate some feedback on those from our listeners. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#036 – Experts of Fan Controversy

    14/07/2011

Featuring: Alex Leavitt (Dept. of Alchemy), Chris Beveridge (Mania.com), Ed Chavez (Vertical, Inc.), Jennifer Fu (Comparative Media Studies at MIT), Clarissa Graffeo (Anime World Order), and Ada Palmer (Tezuka in English) Yes, yes, I promised a review of Spice & Wolf for this episode, but Alex Leavitt has forced my hand by politely requesting this long-overdue recording. That's right, get ready for ANGRY ARGUMENTS, because this is Experts of Fan Controversy (Anime Boston 2011), in which anime fandom "experts" face off on major issues of the day, including piracy and translation accuracy! OK, let's be honest here: there isn't actually much controversy or anger in this panel, but it certainly has lots of very useful insights into the workings of the anime industry and fandom. Plus it's got points. And who doesn't love points? Show notes and links are coming soon, and cross your fingers for that Spice & Wolf episode next time! Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! • AGP#035 – Trying To Keep This Short (Lies)

    21/05/2011

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Bradley C. Meek (themanime.org), InkTopics: Reading E-mails, What'cha Been Doing? Been fighting back withdrawal symptoms due to the lack of Ani-Gamers Podcasts of late? Well we're back to help you out, now that my crazy semester is finally over. Will we continue to put out episodes in any timely fashion? We sure hope so! Anyway, this episode features Ink as a co-host once again, but it also features Bradley C. Meek, who's been trying to get on this podcast for months. (We were happy to have him, but I had to find time to record!) Next episode, Bradley, Ink, and I will be discussing the Spice & Wolf anime. That should be up within the next week or two. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#034 – Still Talking

    20/12/2010

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Elliot Page, InkTopic: "What'cha Been Doing?" After a ridiculously long break between episodes, we're back with a 100% Ani-Gamers staff episode (i.e. both co-hosts are Ani-Gamers contributors). We discuss the anime, manga, and video games we've been checking out in these last few weeks, including Ink's Anime Secret Santa pick, Fate/Stay Night. Plus, in the last fifteen minutes or so, Evan and Elliot have an in-depth discussion of the wildly popular indie game Minecraft. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.

  • AGP#033b – Daryl Talks Mass Effect (Part 2)

    12/09/2010

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Mitchell Dyer, Daryl Surat (Anime World Order)Topic: Mass Effect 2 (2010) and expectations for Mass Effect 3 We're back with more Mass Effect talk, this time with a discussion of Mass Effect 2 and 3 (which isn't out yet, though that doesn't stop us from spending a good portion of the episode on it). By the way, SPOILERS. Seriously, don't say I didn't warn you. If you've got something to say about Mass Effect or our opinions thereof, do let us know through the comments or e-mail. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.
