    Laodicea -Apostasy Period 1900 - Present. This church was people driven, not Christ driven. In Rev. 3:14-22, Jesus said the Laodicea Church didn't know it was wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. He called them lukewarm and rather they'd be cold or hot. We are living in the Laodicea era today where people are professing Christ on Sunday, but living as if He doesn't exist Monday through Saturday. Do you know if you are lukewarm, self reliant, self-righteous and blind? Jesus is knocking, the time is short.

As individuals, "He that hath an ear", should listen.

In Acts 17:22-34, as Paul set out to preach the Gospel in Athens, he tried using intellect to reach the people and the results were not as inspiring. But, in 1 Corinthians 2, when preaching the Gospel to Corinth, he went with a demonstration of the Spirit's power so that their faith would not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.

    In Revelations 3:1-6, Jesus writes to the Church in Sardis--The Reformation Period, which were known for its luxury and looseness with the reputation for apathy and immortality. They were overcome twice because of over-confidence and failing to watch. Jesus refers to these examples to encourage repentance and watchfulness. Just as today we must be watchful, remember, hold fast, repent, overcome and refuse to be defiled.

The church was commended for its works, love, service, faith and patience; but, was rebuked for its full-scale idolatry, immortality and tolerance for both. The false teachings of Jezebel were accepted by some and rejected by some. Both were addressed by Jesus.

This was a period of moral and doctrinal corruption--when the Church married the world, of which Jesus was sorely displeased. Receive an understanding of what He had to say of their need to repent.
