Today many people have a false understanding of the end times. There have been many people who are merely interested in what many call the "rapture." While Christ will return to claim his church, none of can know the time of his return. However what is important is for believers to know they have a promise from the Lord that he will return! Jesus wanted the disciples to understand that being ready for his return was more important than knowing the time. Believers who joyously anticipate Christ's return should be found not only hopeful, but also faithful in their daily lives by that hope. While the lives of believers today are filled with hope of Christ's return, their hope should also be found faithful because of the promise of Christ's return.

Each of needs to know what is promised to us in redemption from the Cross. However we are sometimes led astray by the example of others. In his letter to the Philippians Paul wanted the Philippians to value his example in Christ rather the value of the enemies of the Cross by understanding what awaited them. Today we need to live our lives as examples of what we value in what Jesus promises us in Heaven. Each of us needs to understand that a life surrendered to Jesus Christ not only promises us a life of peace, joy, and love, it promises us a home in Heaven. And we as believers need to understand that is what not only awaits us, but that is what we need to realize as we live our daily lives for Christ. If you could learn what was going to happen in your future would you want to know? Jesus gave his disciples a glimpse into future certainties so that by learning to love others they might be found righteous upon his return.  We too are given a glimpse into the future that by loving others we might be found righteous upon the Lord's return. In this sermon you will find 3 attributes of faith that we are suppose to exemplify by a life of faith. When the Lord returns he want to find his church ready for his return, he wants the church to be found faithful with the blessings he has given us, and he wants to find us faithful in loving others. God has a plan to bless believers with his grace. However the world has a way of convincing us if we hold on to what we have we'll be truly happy. The apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth and told them that God had a plan to use them for his blessings and if they allowed Him to do that he would provide them for the necessary provisions. Today believers must know that God still has a plan for them too. And that plan is we will give generously God will bless us generously. The difference is not for us to reap the blessing only for us, but to bless others. God provides everything He needs to build His kingdom, but His plan is to include believers so they can be a a part of every good work He purposes for His glory. Each of have the power of speech, so each of us has the power to bless or curse others with our tongue. What we say to others not only matters them it matters to God. The Bible says everyone has been created in the image of God. When we speak to others we should see them as God sees them, but more importantly demonstrate that by what we say. As each of experience trials during our life we often don't think of them as a good thing. But the book of James tells us to consider it pure joy! However, its not the joy that we think about when circumstances turn out to a happy ending. Joy is the expression of faith often during times of challenge and persecution. But it is often during our trials where we most experience God. And it is the testing of our faith that yields true joy fueled by hope. Our text for this sermon is James 1:2-12. Jonah’s hatred and prejudice led him away from understanding God’s mercy and grace for his own life.We need to know that prejudice and hatred lead only to self-pity; a life of being self-centered, while love and pity for others lead to a commitment to help and save; a God-centered life.   In the Bible we have seen how God has intervened in judgment in human history. This was the case of Babel, Sodom, Jericho, Babylon, Nineveh, and Jerusalem.  And not until God destroys sin in the city can the New Jerusalem be ushered in. By faith we know that God is at work in our history using every man, in ways we cannot see with total clarity, but God alone builds His city.  

In life many of exchange things that we think are more important for us. The people of Nineveh exchaned their sin and violence for mercy and hope. In this sermon we hear that God's love is bigger than His judgment. People today also need to know that God offers His mercy to everyone if they are willing to turn to him in repentance. This is part 5 of our sermon series God Never Gives Up in the book of Jonah. The text for this sermon is Jonah 3:6-10. But the greatest exchange for all humanity is the Cross. It is at the cross that everyone who comes to faith in Jesus Christ can exchange their sins for the forgiveness Jesus offers and receive eternal life!

Because the Lord is a God of second chances, and because GOD NEVER GIVES UP!God gave Jonah a second chance and a simple message to those who needed his forgiveness and salvation. Today God still gives a second chance, and a simple message to everyone who needs his forgiveness and salvation through his Son Jesus Christ.   

This sermon was preached at Macedonia Baptist Church in Jacksonville Florida by Marc Krevo. Macedonia Baptist Church is located on the westside of Jacksonville, where the Word of God is preached every Sunday. Now Jonah's disobedience finds himself in the belly of a great fish in the deep of the ocean. He is near the end of his life when he suddenly cries out to the Lord in his prayer. As Jonah cries out he finds that the Lord answers him and delivers him from the belly of the fish. In this sermon we see that when we come to God in prayer we need to seek him first, rather than just trying to pray our way out of trouble. Seeking God first in our lifes delivers us. Salvation is from the Lord.

The apostle Paul and Silas are in jail. After being beaten and throne in jail for a crime they did not commit they are singing hymns and praising God. Suddenly an earthquake blows the doors and locks open. When the jailer is ready to commit suicide for fear the prisoners have run off Paul witnesses the good news of Jesus Christ to him. The jailer listens to Paul and Silas and decides to choose salvation through Jesus Christ for him and his whole family. This story tells how men and fathers are of great influence in their family and the role men play in leading spiritually in their homes.

Now that Jonah has decided to run from God the plans don't change. God uses unlikely people in unlikely circumstances to reveal his great love for all of us.

God's wayward prophet is told to go to the great city of Nineveh. However Jonah has decided to go in the opposite direction, but God never gave up on pursuing Jonah. And today God never gives up on pursuing us with his great love.
