  • VHS Rewind! – Tales From the Darkside (1983) – From FYC Archives

    30/10/2019

In this throwback from the FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION podcast archives, We have another Halloween treat for you! Chris and I discussed the fun and mesmerizing horror TV series created by George A. Romero, Tales From the Darkside which aired 37 years ago today on October 29th 1983!  We hope you all have a Happy and Safe Halloween. "Tales from the Darkside is a 1980s American anthology horror TV series created by George A. Romero. Debuting in October 1983 with a pilot episode and then being picked up for syndication in September 1984, the show ran for 4 seasons through July 1988. Each episode, aired originally by Tribune Broadcasting late at night, was an individual short story that often ended with a plot twist. The series' episodes spanned the genres of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, and some episodes featured elements of black comedy or more lighthearted themes."

  • VHS Rewind! – The Greatest American Heroine (1986) – From FYC Archives

    03/10/2019

In this throwback from the FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION podcast archives, Mark and Chris discuss The Greatest American Heroine pilot episode that originally aired back in 1986! During 1986, the original principal cast reunited for a pilot movie for a new NBC series to be named The Greatest American Heroine, which did not result in a new series, and the pilot was never broadcast by NBC. Ultimately, the pilot was re-edited as an episode of the original series (complete with original opening credits and theme), and added to syndication sets of the original series aired on several local television stations in the late 80s, for which it is the final episode. Immediately after the beginning credits, the episode's title card is superimposed over a nighttime view of the Los Angeles skyline, reading "The Greatest American Hero" before appending the letters "i n e" individually to the sound of the NBC chimes. The chimes were a nod to NBC and its president, Brandon Tartikoff, who had expressed interest in reviving the series

  • VHS Rewind! – The New Kids (1985)

    04/07/2019

Mark and Chris discuss The New Kids which first came to theaters on January 11, 1985 This is part of our award winning #Spaderthon! A brother and sister (Shannon Presby and Lori Loughlin) lose their parents in a tragic accident, and are sent to live with relatives in Florida. They are repeatedly bullied and traumatized by the local yahoo played wickedly by James Spader. What follows is a late night showdown at an empty carnival between good and evil, all in the name of survival. Lori Loughlin delivers a decent performance, as well does Shannon Presby as her very protective brother. However, James Spader's convincing performance is pure evil, at its best. As far as bully films go, this is one of the best.

  • VHS Rewind! – Tuff Turf (1985)

    13/06/2019

Mark and Chris discuss TUFF TURF which originally appeared in theaters on January 11, 1985!  Tuff Turf brings back memories of watching movies on Select TV. This 80's cult hit is about a young lad who's life is turned upside down when his upper class father hits financial trouble forcing his family to move out to the 'hood. James Spader slowly learns how to deal with street life whilst his family adjusts to dealing with people that are of "lower social class". It's an Interesting film starring James Spader as the young punk rich kid, Matt Clark as his shell shocked father, Robert Downey Jr. as his high school buddy and Kim Richards (Escape To Witch Mountain) as his soon to be girlfriend. Little House on the Prairie fans should be on the lookout for Olivia Barash who played "Sylvia" in the very dark 'rape' episode of LHOTP! The only part of the movie that gave me the douche chills was when his older (more culturally refined yet not as cool) brother pays a visit, there's an oedipal conflict between the two (the

  • VHS Rewind! – Babes, Boobs and Purity Bush

    10/05/2019

Need a spring break, Spring Break, SPRING BREAK? The latest episode of VHS Rewind is now available and will help cure your Spring fever and even help you pass your lonely time at summer camp. In an episode we are controversially calling “Babes, Boobs and Purity Bush”, Christopher Hasler, co-host of VHS Rewind, throws political correctness away and leaves the Me Too movement behind as he celebrates the soundtrack music of the classic teen T&A flicks of the 1980s. It’s a damn shame you simply cannot make these movies anymore. Spend some time with this episode as Christopher reminisces about the soundtracks to his youth and all of the T&A that used to be seen on movie screens. And get ready to send your angry letters when Christopher provides his answer to this question: if you had a choice – Phoebe Cates in her prime or Betsy Russell in her prime?
