Episode 61: Bekah Kelso And The Fellas RADIO - No StrangerThanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast, I’m your host, Mario Zamarron. Before we dive into the reason you all tuned in, I wanted to talk about something that’s going to have an effect on live music ever so slightly north from San Antonio in a city called Cibolo. Nick Marquez, an avid music lover and business owner, will be opening a bar and live music venue called Old Main Ice House. We caught up with Nick at the 2015 Cibolo Food Truck Round-Up, hosted by Michael LaMonica and the city of Cibolo. Nick was awesome enough to sponsor the music that night, which included the Jesse Stratton Band, Storm Calysta, and Broken Duckfeet. Huge shout out to Michael and Nick for allowing us to suggest Storm Calysta. Just like I knew would happen, they we’re both very impressed, as was the crowd. A few different times, there were even a few people dancing! This event in Cibolo and the Old Main Ice House coming soon, in my opinion, will bridge a gap for local

    25/08/2015 Duração: 01h19min

Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast, I’m your host, Mario Zamarron. I know most people celebrate 50 episodes, but we were in the middle of Local Music Week, and I didn’t want our milestone to overshadow the theme of the week. So, we’re doing it now. We’re celebrating 60 episodes. In less than 3 years, we’ve managed to develop a global audience, we’ve conducted 17 interviews, played over 30 episodes of almost pure music, played over 18 entire albums from beginning to end, we’ve done a benefit concert for Toys for Tots, we’ve attend the Alamo City ComicCon twice (soon to be thrice), we’ve been able to get media access to other events, and we've connected with so many musicians, artists, filmmakers, and entertainers. We’re so happy at what we’ve accomplished within 60 episodes, but like any artist, we’re hungry for more. Right now, we’re trying to at least make the top three finalists in the San Antonio Current’s Best of Music issue. We’ve conducted some more interviews and plan on even more moving in

  • Episode 53: Levees Special Release & Giveaway

    30/05/2015 Duração: 06min

Episode 53: Levees Special Release & GiveawayA month ago, I got to see a band opening for Lonely Horse at Sam’s Burger Joint that totally blew me away. I hadn’t heard of them prior to that event, and I found out later, that that night was actually the third time they had played in front of an audience. The band was Levees.Levees is Kody Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Skyler Ellis, and Matt Stieb. Right now, these guys are a bit of a mystery. They’re currently putting together a bio, but I can tell you this. These guys sound great live. I was really impressed with them, not like I’m the end all of tastemakers or anything, but, I really think they’re going to make a big splash locally and hopefully regionally and nationally. Thanks to Levees for hosting our first contest/promotion. Saturday, May 30th, Levees will be playing at the 502 Bar at 8pm. They will be playing with The Vegan Street Tacos, Colleens, and Michael J. and The Foxes to raise money for Michael J. and The Foxes debut full length album. As for the p

Episode 52: #LMW2015 Mixed Tape Volume 3Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast and the last day of our Local Music Week 2015 episodes. This will be our last Mixed Tape for the Local Music Week series, but we will keep going mixed tape episodes in the future like we always have. Our first track is Slowlikefire’s “With Envy” from their new album City Of Echoes. These guys are primed for success. With that, for those who are not already following us on social media, you probably don’t know that 210 Local Music, a subsidiary of 210 Local Media, is now an indie record label and artist management company! I’m very excited to share that our first artist signing to our artist management division, is Slowlikefire. Slowlikefire recently signed with El Paso Indie Record label, DKD Records. • Episode 51: #LMW2015 The Akuzma RADIO

Episode 51: #LMW2015 The Akuzma RADIOThanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast and day six of our Local Music Week 2015 episodes. This episode is dedicated to our friends at The Akuzma. Recently, they won their way to the final two bands of a local Battle of the Bands competition, but despite their best efforts, didn’t get the win they were hoping for. Despite this, all of their close fans responded with nothing but support, reminding me of Spurs fans, so to our friends in the Akuzma, I say that you may have lost the battle, but you gained knowledge that your fans love you and support you, and there’s nothing more important than having a strong fan base. These guys represent the harder side of the local music scene, and I wanted to share them with you all. • Episode 50: #LMW2015 Mixed Tape Volume 2

    21/05/2015 Duração: 41min

Episode 50: #LMW2015 Mixed Tape Volume 2Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast and day five of our Local Music Week 2015 episodes. This is our second mixed tape of the week and we wanted to mix in some old friends and some new friends.First up, we have some friends we recently reunited with at the Slowlikefire City Of Echoes Release show, Secrets & Irises with "Golden Circles" and Langton Drive with “0509". Right after that, we follow the punk vibe to some classic San Antonio punk, Nada Mas Basura with their self titled track. Up next, we’ve got some new friends we met up with at a Local Music Week meeting a few weeks ago, Days That End In Why and their song, "Trick Silver Linings". In true throwback Thursday fashion, we’ve got a band who is no longer in the San Antonio scene, but left it’s mark regardless, Viet Ruse with "Point Of View". Thanks to another Local Music Week meeting, I finally got to meet Nathan Alvarado from Remanon and wanted to play "Justice Paige". Even though we already played

  • Episode 49: #LMW2015 The Heroine RADIO

    20/05/2015 Duração: 20min

Episode 49: #LMW2015 The Heroine RADIOThanks for tuning in to day four of our Local Music Week 2015 episodes.Well, it finally happened, we’re proud to bring you the hardest working band in San Antonio, The Heroine and their second release, Songs From The Southland Volume 1. Next month, we’ll be taking a trip back in time and bringing you their first full album release, Playing For Keeps. I’ve only seen The Heroine a couple of times, but both times, they were insane. The Heroine is 5 parts hair, 10 parts sweat, 20 parts good old southern rock, and a whole hell of a lotta showmanship. Frontman Lynwood Presley King and the rest of the band truly leave themselves on the stage each night and sometimes Lynwood will throw in a couple of sermons about pain, love, and joy. By the way, if they tell you to some closer to the stage, I’d leave at least 5 feet around them, or you’ll be likely to catch a flying mic stand to the head. However, if you do get hit, it’s rock and roll baby! This is day four of local Music Week an

Episode 48: #LMW2015 Fair Coyote RADIOThanks for tuning in to day three of our Local Music Week 2015 episodes. This episode is another RADIO episode, this time for our friend Mauricio Vazquez, known to me as Fair Coyote. Fair Coyote’s music is a veritable plethora of sonic and aural soundscapes. There’s no tying him to a specific genre, although I hear Pink Floyd, tribal, and industrial influences throughout. He is a 23 year old multi-instrumentalist, born in Mexico City, but has transplanted to San Antonio. Right now, he’s been busy creating solo projects and has recently been collaborating with local filmmakers and musicians. Currently Fair Coyote is recording for "Paths" an EP that is set to be released in July. You can also find him on SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/faircoyote.This is day three of local Music Week and there’s plenty more that you can find all over social media if you use #LMW2015 Thanks to Local 782, SATX Music, and Do210 for being the primary organizers behind this years Local Music Week. Episode 46: #LMW2015 Slowlikefire RADIOFinally, the episode is finally out, after much delay. I’ve been sick the last few days and am still trying to get my voice back, so I’ll keep this intro minimal. First off, we’ve got a special release from our friends at The Black Market Club with their new single Juan Pablo, which will be off of their upcoming release.Next, we’re finally releasing a Slowlikefire RADIO episode of their first EP Thieves By Nature. Once we’ve made it through Local Music Week, we will dedicate another episode to their first full length album release, City Of Echoes. For now, here’s Slowlikefire’s Thieves By Nature:My Name Is Billy Jean DaveyEn VacioTake This As GoodbyeThieves By NatureThe SexI’ve Come To Set The Record StraightFinally, we’ve got a VERY special appearance of a one time San Antonio band, now a very well known national act, Nothing More. • Episode 45: The Black Market Club RADIO

    05/05/2015 Duração: 31min

Episode 45: The Black Market Club RADIOThanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast, I’m your host, Mario Zamarron. I’ll start off by admitting that this episode is way overdue. They were one of the best interviews of season one, and are probably the band I’ve seen play the most, they are The Black Market Club. This album, Faults and Fractures and the interview were both with the previous lineup of TBMC. Now, They’ve brought in Ben Griffith on vocals and keys and Luciano Islas on the bass. The remaining members, include Zach Taylor on guitar, Andrew Bauer on guitar, and Austin Busbee on the drums. I’ve only see them play once with the new lineup, but I have to say that I’m truly impressed, and it’s great to see them set an example of a band who can go through such a dramatic change and still be able to move forward with such force. Again, this is the album, Faults & Fractures, which features their previous singer, Blake Cook, and previous bassist, Xavier Zevala. I love every song on this album, but the

This episode marks the first of a new series of episodes for 210 Local Media, our In The Studio With series. I mentioned this in a prior episode, but I wanted to mention it here as well. Episode 41: Donella Drive Live and AcousticThis is our third “live from the board” episode, this time featuring Donella Drive. This was from the same show that Tera Ferna played a few episodes ago at Jack’s Patio. This is also the first time I got to hear Ella with the band for a live performance and I have to say, I was happy that I didn’t miss this show. This episode has about 30 minutes of music for your entertainment, starting with Donella Drive’s new single, “Deadman”, “808”, “Shadow People”, “Shipwrecked (Middle of Nowhere)”, (Mystery Track), and “Late Night”.Donella Drive is:Ella Macias - Vocals & MidriffAidan Escalante - Guitar & ComedyAndrew Salazar - Bass & The Serious Guy (not really)Colt Wrangler Lyons - Drums & Hard Working Man HandsThey’re currently gearing up to release their album Anomalous on April 25th at HiTones with The Heroine, Lonely Horse, and RMRS!Check out their home on our site at 210LocalMedia.com/DonellaDrive and keep an eye out for their lyrics on the site too!You
