The “experts” say that we are about to experience the greatest transfer of wealth from one generation to the next that world has ever seen. In fact here’s exactly what they say; “Gen X and Millennials are set to inherit a staggering $124 trillion in assets over the next 23 years in what many call America's Great Wealth Transfer.” Although I am or not at all sure you or I will see any of that, I am certain of this, $124 trillion is nothing compared to the transfer made on our behalf over 2,000 years ago! The real question though is this, will we be faithful to ensure that the message of the Gospel gets transferred to the next generation, or will it die with us? Even in chains, facing trial and uncertainty, the Apostle Paul found a joy that couldn’t be taken away. “Membership has its privileges!” i remember hearing these credit card ads as a kid and thinking, “I wanna be a privileged member!” I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want special access to exclusive privileges? A few weeks ago, I was at an airport and realized that my Amex card gained access to the airport lounge that I had previously thought only Elon Musk got to use. Not only did I also have the authority to enter the world of the rich and famous, but I even had THE authority to bring a friend! Membership has its privileges! If you find that appealing, wait until you hear where we’re headed this Sunday, because membership in the family of God also comes with privileges that you may have been previously unaware of.
