She has taught for 23 years and has a passion for project-based learning and the environment. She was recognized as the Michigan Middle School Science Teacher of the Year in 2012, and the National Middle Level Science Teaching Association Hurd Award winner in 2015. Susan has also worked for EarthEcho International as their Water Challenge Manager. She loves to travel and has done so extensively including trips to Antarctica and Iceland. Her travels benefit students as she can bring a global perspective to the local issues that her students explore in and out of the classroom.
