Helga Maria Løvenskiold Kveseth, også kjent som Mara, skal seile Golden Globe Race 2026 som starter i september neste år. Duncan Copeland and Larissa Clark, with their two kids, are sailing the world's oceans with a purpose beyond spectacular sunsets and magical anchorages far away. They started the non-profit Free Range Ocean to give all sailors access to citizen science at sea.  Right now, they have 49 different ocean citizen science projects on the Citizen Science Directory. Projects all sailors can, and should, take part in, in a joint effort to help save the ocean from ourselves. Lauric Thiault and Nao Nakamura sailed their 35-foot Dufour from France to Patagonia. They spent over 500 days in the spectacular wild fjords, among glaciers, and in coves protected from storm force winds. The isolation and deep contact with nature have left a desire to return. 500 days were not enough. You will most likely understand why if you watch their YouTube channel Tupaia. Martin Augestad Larsen var hjemme i noen hektiske arbeidsmåneder etter jorden rundt rekordseilasen før han igjen kastet loss. Denne gangen med kurs for Kemoto, Gambia med båten full av utstyr for å hjelpe innbyggerne. Vane tro så skulle seilasen skje non-stop og solo, men en storm, en knockdown og et påfølgende mastebrekk tvang ham inn til Vigo, Spania. Men han gir seg ikke. Herman Østad og Nicolai Arveschoug er klare for å krysse Atlanterhavet i sin Hera, en Hero 107 fra 1978. De har tatt seg et år fri fra studiene i Trondheim for å seile til Karibia og tilbake. De er en av fire norske Hero'er som for tiden er på langtur med ungt mannskap - godt inspirert av Sorgenfri, en Hero 101, som dro på jordomseiling i 1990. Simon Brennstrøm startet som båtboer i Tromsø, og da nye utfordringer kallet i Oslo satt han seil sydover. Turen langs norskekysten ble en stor opplevelse med god tid og mange fine minner. Han startet i juni og kom til Kongen Marina i Oslo i oktober, men kombinerte seilturen med jobbturnus slik at han la igjen båten i utvalgte havner på veien syd. It's a small sailing world. A beautiful aluminium world grinder, which I had been druling over, docked just a few berts away from mine, was sold to Martin Hartland and Svetlana Baraniuk. Now they have signed up for Jimmy Cornell's High Latitude Challenge 2026-27. So I had to make a podcast with Martin as they were preparing for their first transatlantic in Moonraker - and then the quest to sail to Antarctica and through the North West passage in the same season. Simon Currin and his wife Sally started their circumnavigation in 2015. They started in the high latitudes by cruising in the summer season and leaving their boat, Shimshal, a 47-foot deckhouse built by CR Yachts in Orust, Sweden, in various locations around the world while they went back to the UK to work. Ten years later, the couple has reached New Zealand and is full-time cruisers.  You can read more about their adventures on Voyages of Shimshal. Simon is a former commodore of the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC), and Sally is a former Treasurer of the same club. Ella Hibbert (28), aka Ella in the Arctic, took on the North West Passage solo and came out in the other end exhausted, but happy. She is the first British female to sail the mytich passage solo, and only 14 have done it before her. Now she is putting Yeva on the hard, and then she will continue through the North East Passage next summer. We talked to her while she was storm-bound in St. Paul in the Bering Sea. Ella's Arctic expedition is officially endorsed by the Scientific Exploration Society and she is also part of The International SeaKeepers Society. You can, and you should follow her and support her. SY Novara, a Bestevear 60C with two carbon fibre aero rigs, have finished the North West Passage with their current custodians Veronica Lysaght and Nigel Jollands. It is the second time Novara sails through the icy and mythical passage at the top of the world.  The couple is on a climate mission as they sail from the UK to New Zealand—the Novara - One Planet Project. We can all make a difference for the ocean. Some bigger than others, but we should all do our part. Martin Hassellöv and Bjorn Bertoft, on board Hrimfare and the Sailing4Science project, aim to do good while sailing with scientists. The Hrimfare is transformed from a round-the-world sailing boat into a sailing laboratory for scientists, while also promoting citizen scientists. Hoisting sails and claiming you run a sustainable expedition sailing company don't resonate well anymore. You are off course, way more sustainable than big cruise ships, but who isn't? You have to factor in diesel consumption, travel, food, waste, and many other factors to get a correct picture of your carbon footprint. But also the building of an expedition boat has to be counted, and that's where Andrew Cowen and his co-founders of Expedition Zero and Wavysail are going to make a difference. Their ambition is to build expedition boats for the commercial market with a much lower carbon footprint and upcycle old boats to the same market. We talked to Andrew Cowen about the business side of their start-ups - and of course, the environmental side of it all. Their ambitions and business model give a sailor hope. Anita og Paul-Gunnar Nakken har tatt med seg barna Tuva (8) og Storm (11) på langtur i SY Explore, en Ovni 435 som forvøvrig er min gamle båt. Planen er å seile melkruta rundt Atlanteren i et år. Jeanette and Fredrik Liljekvist have been sailing full-time for the last ten years. The last four aboard their Boreal 55OC in the cold waters in the North. She was designed to take adventurers to the most remote places on the ocean. A few years ago Veronica Lysaght and Nigel Jollands took over as custodians of the ship. They wanted to sail from the UK home to New Zealand with a climate mission.
