Session 1: Parenting in the Early Years

God's call is for us to continue working on making a suitable home for him among his people, but he assures us through his power, presence, and promised peace that he will complete the work he started.

When the Lord speaks against our sinful self-interest, we are called to listen and repent, re-prioritizing his kingdom work.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Only work built on Christ will last, and since the church belongs to God, she must avoid division and boasting in men, rejoicing in all she has in Christ.

Groundbreaking marks the start of something new and turning plans into reality. The laying of the foundation of Christ the Cornerstone is proof of the Lord's steadfast love to the Church, his living temple.

Worshipping in the Fearful In-Between

God is redeeming people to live with and worship him.

God's faithfulness spans our sin, our loss, and the passage of time, proving that he will keep his word to those whom he has rescued in Christ.

The future for Christians is not a "pie in the sky" sentiment, but a very real source of hope with which we are meant to encourage one another regularly.

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him…

"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Obeying Christ's commands springs from his power and love in making us new people. The new life he has won for us gives us hope in fulfilling the call to imitate God to one another in our love, our kindness, and forgiveness.

God showed us his love by sending his son to die for our sins, and we as Christians display the unseen God's glory by loving one another in the same manner as Christ: by daily laying down our lives for one another.

The gospel of Jesus is not only the church's most prized "possession" worth preserving both personally and as an institution for the glory of King Jesus.
