Adult Friends

When I had the idea to start this podcast, I tricked Michael and Peter into recording a conversation in my living room after a night of playing music and drinking beer. This late February evening was the night I captured Michael playing a descending line on the trumpet and synthesizer, simultaneously. It was so amazing, I knew I wanted to use it for the theme. I've used that line in C Major / A Minor as a guide for the rest of the music in each episode. This was my first attempt, so forgive me for the audio quality. Peter and Michael are the best.

At long last, Troy provides his rebuttal to John and Jacob, which sort of includes the Craig Finn game. We discuss ShowX, which occurs every Monday night at Huge Theater (hint: you should go). As always, I will overuse the words "capacity" and "bastion" for some reason. Note: There will be a two-week break for the podcast. The next new episode will likely be released on May 30th. 

Jill and I met as she walked through my front door, but that didn't stop us from having a fairly thorough discussion about LSAT prep, marriage, and friends.

Haakon Nelson and I took a road trip down to Decorah, IA in the middle of a snowstorm to visit Andy Meyer. After a night on the town, we got to talking, so I recorded it.  I've known Andy since college, but we've become quite close over the last decade. Haakon and I became friends while we were both playing in a band that was preparing for a brief West Coast tour (https://www.cataldomusic.com/). I introduced Andy and Haakon while they were both living in Seattle, and they became fast friends. The episode ends with a yet-unreleased song titled Statues that I wrote after reflecting on the White Supremacist / Neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, VA in 2017. 

Chris Cunningham has built his life around making music in NY, LA, and now Minneapolis (e.g., http://fothou.com/). John Keston has, among many other things, been making music in Minneapolis for more than 20 years (https://audiocookbook.org/).

I met Elli Rader at the 318 in Excelsior, MN around 2008-2009. Our paths have crossed many times in the intervening years, but it was nice to chat about her experience making friends as a person who has moved frequently.

John and Jacob are two of the funniest gentlemen I know. They are also friends. This episode eventually involves the story of how they met (with a bunch of other stuff, too).

Travis Welk and I have been friends since 1994. Since after all these years, we still spend a lot of time together, I thought it might be fun to start this podcast with a conversation with him.
