Jimmy Davis - In this "chapter" of the Story of Jesus, God has not given up on His plan to establish His Kingdom. Although Adam and Eve have rebelled, and sin has corrupted everyone and everything, God promises Abraham that He will redeem a people for Himself who will dwell in His place, live under His rule, and enjoy His blessing. We are called to live by faith in that promise even today.

Jimmy Davis - As we continue to trace the theme of God’s Kingdom through the Bible, we learn about the Perished Kingdom in Genesis 3. In their rebellion Adam and Eve have ruined their relationships with God, people, and creation. They are no longer God’s People, have been banished from God’s Place, and live in disobedience to God’s Rule and under His curse. But, there are glimmers of hope in this dark part of the Story.

Jimmy Davis - In Genesis 1 and 2 we discover that the Pattern of the Kingdom is “God’s people in God’s place under God’s rule and enjoying His blessing." We will follow this pattern of the Kingdom of God through the rest of the Bible in the weeks to come!

Jimmy Davis - In Psalm 19 we discover that prayer is not merely “talking to God” but responding to the God who has been and is talking to us. God is there and He is not silent. He speaks through the skies, the Scriptures, and most clearly through His Son, the Savior.

Jimmy Davis - We live in a world of chaos, and there’s a world of chaos in us. But Jesus faithfully lived Psalm 16, so that we who are “in Christ” can now pray Psalm 16 with a confidence in Christ that gives us contentment in chaos.

Jimmy Davis - How do you respond when the Lord convicts you of your sin? In Psalm 51 we learn that repentant prayer pleads for reconciliation with God and then for transformation by God.

Jimmy Davis - Psalms 42 and 43 help us learn how to pour out our hearts to our Savior and then preach His hope to our souls. Sometimes prayer is simply a cry for Jesus to carry you and your cravings to the cross.

Jimmy Davis - In the second half of Psalm 34, King David's sermon encourages us to practice the goodness of God as we depend on the Savior who proves and provides the goodness of God for us.

Jimmy Davis - God is good . . . all the time! Is He? The first half of Psalm 34 shows us how to sing praise to God for His all-the-time goodness even when life doesn’t seem so good.

Jimmy Davis - Where does David get his rock-solid confidence in God when all around him seems like sinking sand? David begins Psalm 27 with an exclamation of confidence in God and ends the psalm with an exhortation to continue that confident trust. The verses in-between tell us something about what encouraged David’s confidence in the God of his salvation, and how it might do the same for us

Nathaniel Thompson - This past Sunday we were reminded what it means to be made in the image of God: we were created for relationship with God, relationship with others, and relationship with the land.

Jimmy Davis - At the heart of Psalm 23 we find David’s confident and comforting words “for You are with me.” Through His incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, Jesus is Immanuel (“God with us”). Those who know Jesus as their Shepherd (vv. 1-4) and Gracious Host (vv.5-6) can be sure they have the Provision, Protection, and Promise of His presence through every dark valley, including death itself.

Jimmy Davis - In this follow up sermon from Psalm 2, we learn that Jesus is the Anointed Ruler: He is a good king and a just judge. And while He has the right to rule and the right to judge us all, He was judged for our rebellion! Our appropriate response to the amazing grace of this good king is complete submission to Him. As Derek Kidner says "There is no refuge from Him, only refuge in Him."

Jimmy Davis - When we put Psalms 1 and 2 together, we see that the BLESSED LIFE is enjoyed by those who give the STORY of JESUS their ATTENTION and AFFECTIONS (Psalm 1), because they have given JESUS their ALLEGIANCE (Psalm 2).

Chris Powell - In the fifth chapter of his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul teaches that we are made alive in Christ. Because we are alive in Christ we are a people called to be filled with the Spirit — not to fill ourselves with things that cause us to waste our lives and actually leave us empty.

Jimmy Davis - As we come to the end of our journey in this series on prayer, we discover that one of Paul's prayer priorities is "gospel growth." In many of his letters, Paul pleads with and encourages the church to pray for God to GROW the gospel, to pray for those who SOW the gospel to do so in clear, bold, and protected ways, and to pray that many would KNOW the gospel.

Jimmy Davis - This week we continue in our survey of Paul’s Prayer Priorities, learning from Philippians 1:1-11 how Paul prays FROM a heart of love FOR God’s people while he prays FOR a heart of love to grow IN God’s people.

Jimmy Davis - Last Sunday we learned from Ephesians 1 and 3 that we can follow Paul’s example and pray that God’s people will have hearts that SEE their hope in Jesus and hearts that are STRENGTHENED through faith in Jesus.
