In episode 14 of Away from the pitch, we are joined by former George Naylor Medalist Vaughan Patterson. The imposing midfielder has been a part of some of the best sides in the Illawarra Premier League having featured in five grand finals in eight seasons. Patterson discusses the being on the right and wrong end of the result in the big games as well as his 2020 transfer to Bellambi.

In episode 13 of Away from the pitch, we chat with Corrimal recruit Rick Goodchild. Goodchild is one of the Illawarra Premier League's most recognised names having been a star figure at Bulli, Wollongong United and Tarrawanna during the past decade. The talismanic midfielder discusses the influence Adrian Alston had on his career as well as playing out his 'best years' at Tarrawanna.

In episode 11 of Away from the pitch, we speak with Bulli goalkeeper and Talk2MeBro ambassador Ben McGinnes. The custodian opens up about the role suicide and mental health has played in his life and how he's looked to make a difference through the #talk2mebro campaign. McGinnes also discusses starting his career at Woonona before moving to rivals Bulli as well as his season with Coniston which saw the club earn promotion to the Illawarra Premier League.

In episode 10 of Away from the pitch, we are joined by South Coast Flame goalkeeper and captain Matt White. White overcame Leukaemia before carving out a playing career which saw him become Flame's inaugural skipper.  The number one opens up about his journey which has also seen him represent the Australian First Nations side.

In episode 10 of Away from the pitch, we talk football with University captain Elise Battin. Battin started in the senior ranks in her mid-teens with Culburra and Southern Branch before moving to the Illawarra and the Women's Division 1. The creative midfielder discusses her time at the top with Tarrawanna as well as her rapidly improving Uni side.

In episode nine of Away from the pitch, we speak with Central Coast Mariners striker Jordan Murray. Murray is a prime example of the pathway from grassroots football to the professional game with the goal-getter making his senior debut for Bulli in 2012. Murray would move onto the Wollongong Wolves and APIA Leichhardt and while at the latter in 2018 he broke the NSW NPL 1 goal-scoring record with 23 goals in 19 games. The number 9 opens up about the people who have had a strong influence on his career including his dad and former NSL player, Peter.  Murray also discusses adapting to professional football as well his career highlights to date.

In episode eight of Away from the pitch, we are joined by Wollongong United goalkeeper Sam Nastic. Nastic burst into the Illawarra Premier League as a teenager in 2013 and has been one of the competition's best goalkeepers in the seasons since. The shot-stopper discusses some of the intricacies of goalkeeping, his stint with Marconi and suffering grand final heartbreak.

In episode seven of Away from the pitch, we are joined by veteran referee Bobby Mazevski.  Mazevski began officiating local football in the late 1980s and has become one of the region's most noteworthy whistleblowers, taking charge of seven Illawarra Premier League deciders. Mazevski discusses the highs and lows of his career as well as some of the changes he has seen over the decades.

On episode six of Away from the pitch, we are joined by twins Marcus and Joel Beattie. The boys discuss growing up together with a ball at their feet as well as their experience representing the University of Wollongong at the FISU World Cup. Marcus speaks of his tremendous time at Bulli which proved a launchpad to transfers to NPL2 side St George FC before signing for NPL champions the Wollongong Wolves. Joel goes over his time in the English non-league system which led to his chance at becoming a key figure for the Albion Park White Eagles.

In episode five of Away from the pitch, we speak with Tarrawanna stalwart Matt Naylor. The seasoned defender discusses his early career with the Blueys before moving the Balls Paddock under then Bulli coach Adrian Alston Naylor talks about his time playing in England as well as being a part of five unsuccessful grand final tilts.

In the fourth episode of Away from the pitch, we speak with Albion Park's star striker Brittany Ring.  Ring has tormented defences in the Women's Division 1 for a decade, helping Albion Park to become the most feared side in the state. The renowned goal-getter discusses the evolution of Albion Park, what drives her on and her hopes for the future of the local women's game.

In the third episode of Away from the pitch, we chat with Bellambi head coach Andrew Paine.  Paine had a unique playing career where he entertained fans at a number of clubs with his attacking exploits.  His forward-thinking has followed him into coaching where he has led the Rosellas back to the Illawarra Premier League. Paine also shines a light on his playing and coaching relationship with his father, Alan, as well as his decorated futsal career.

In the second episode of Away from the pitch, we are joined by South Coast United player-coach Greg Valic. Valic has been with the Ian McLennan Park-based club for two decades and he shares his experiences of transitioning from a youngster through to the club's figurehead.  The defender also opens up about his spell with the Wollongong Wolves (then South Coast Wolves) and how a Socceroos legend tried to lure him away to another Illawarra Premier League club.

In the inaugural episode of a new Football South Coast podcast series, Away from the pitch, Coniston head coach Jeff Allport virtually sits down with Dylan Arvela to discuss his coaching career. Allport has coached three first grade sides in the Illawarra Premier League since joining Albion Park White Eagles in 2016.  In the time since, he’s enjoyed tremendous success, reaching two grand finals, winning one and steering newly-promoted Coniston to top-flight safety. Allport talks about his experiences along the way before putting together a five-a-side team of players he has worked with.
