Episode 014 is with David a brilliant recovering addict/gambling addict who had a temporary stint as a Nazi skinhead after being institutionalized on and off from 13-27 years old. We talk about his 18 years of recovery, gambling, gangs, politics, hitting bottom while clean, and racism. 

In this episode we go rogue and read from the self-diagnosis pamphlets from all of the 12-step programs - everything from Clutterers Anonymous to Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, Marijuana Anonymous and Codependents Anonymous. Drugs, Sugar, Shopping, Sex. It's heavy, informative, and gets weird. But it's also hopeful and entertaining, and lovely. If you get through to the end you will hear "The Promises" from various programs. They are like the icing on the cat or the carrot at the end of the tunnel, the rainbow underneath the bridge or the gooses golden leg. All of that nonsense.

We talk about her journey from being a homeless sex worker in San Francisco to buying a three bedroom home with her partner of 8 years. Gabby F. has an incredible life story. She is an atheist, comes from an extreme background, and has not only maintained recovery for 21 years, she is a foster mother of 3, and a PhD candidate with extensive knowledge in trauma response, disassociation disorders, and incarceration.
