The Mayo Clinic informs us that excessive anxiety can lead to physical problems including high blood pressure, migraines, indigestion, or asthma. Additionally, chronic worry is linked to the development of several mental health conditions, like generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, panic disorder, and depression. (I pray these statements didn’t cause you more worry!) In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shares an actionable plan to set us free from excessive worry in the here and now! "How to Choose the Best Storage Unit" Do you know what the biggest difference between that shiny new vehicle, you wish you could purchase, and the one that was crushed in the junk yard yesterday? Time! Everything in the junkyard today, was once an object of value. There was a day when it was bright, shiny, and new, and somebody said, "I want that. I'll pay money for that!" Then a moth got it, rust got it, a thief got it, or it got old, and it ended up in the junkyard. It didn't last. Nobody wants it now. All stuff is that way. All the stuff you have now is going to end up in a junkyard. You're just the “middleman”. The only difference between the merchandise in a junkyard and the merchandise at Neiman Marcus, Best Buy, or BMW is just time. Treasure is junk waiting to happen. If you need a mathematical equation here it is: TREASURE + TIME = TRASH! In light of this reality, JESUS gives his followers a better “Treasure Storage Strategy”! "What Prayer’s Doxology Proclaims" Many of us are familiar with a hymn, often referred to as “The Doxology”. In many Baptist churches, it would be sung immediately following the collection of the offering. The opening line is “Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow.” While many may think that is the only “doxology”, the word itself is defined as “an expression of praise to GOD”. There are actually many doxologies! JESUS concludes the prayer model He teaches to His disciples with a different “Doxology” in Matthew 6:13, “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. " Lead Us…Deliver Us" In February of 2015, the Seattle Seahawks faced the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 49. The Patriots were leading 28-24 with 26 seconds left in the game. It was second down and goal-to-go with the ball less than two yards from the goal line and the Seahawks had one time out remaining. In their backfield, the Seahawks had arguably the best short-yardage running back that season in Marshawn Lynch, but Coach Pete Carroll called for a passing play. The pass was intercepted in the end zone, ran back out to the 4-yard line, sealing the victory for the Patriots. The question that has hounded Coach Carrol since that day is “Why in the world would you throw the ball on the one-and-a-half yard line when you have, what many consider to be, the BEST short-yardage running back in football? You had everything you needed to win and yet, you gave the game away. "Forgive AS Forgiven" In our phrase-by-phrase study of “THE LORD’S PRAYER”, what we’ve begun to see is really “THE DISCIPLE’S PRAYER”, JESUS sends a warning with a two-letter word in Matthew 6:12. That two-letter word is “AS”. The warning that JESUS gives on this matter, should stop everyone who follows Him, in our tracks. JESUS teaches that growing a life in the toxic soil of unforgiveness, not only has temporal implications, but also eternal consequences. This Sunday marks 50 years since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion in the United States. It will also be the first observance of NATIONAL SANCTITY OF LIFE DAY, since the Supreme Court overturned that ruling on June 24, 2022. Declaring in that decision, that the Constitution of the United States does not guarantee the right to an abortion! It was a decision for which I give thanks to GOD. It was also a decision that should call the people of GOD to even greater action and deeper commitments to the SANTITIY OF EVERY HUMAN LIFE! In this message, we’ll celebrate our GOD who declares that every life is sacred to HIM. We will do this by being equipped to make a tangible difference in the lives of unborn babies and birth moms in unexpected pregnancies. A Full Christmas – Part 3: Christmas is Fullness of Freedom Depending on who you read, and how they interpret scripture, there are some theologians who point to over 500 verses in the old Testament that point to or describe or reference the coming Messiah of GOD. J. Barton Payne, pointed to as many as 574 verses and Alfred Edersheim found 456 Old Testament verses referring to the Messiah or His times. Conservative estimates say Jesus fulfilled at least 300 prophecies in His earthly ministry. Regardless of the count, many of the prophecies about the coming Messiah speak of one who would “set the captive free” and “break the chains of bondage”. Paul telling the Christians at Galatia about Jesus, wrote, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free…” In this third message in our Christmas series, Pastor Joe Still shares how having a full Christmas requires it to be full of the FREEDOM THAT JESUS BRINGS!

The fourth Thursday in November houses our national day; designated by the U.S. Congress and signed by the President of these United States, as the day every American should give thanks. If we’d be vulnerably transparent, most of us would have to admit that we will not spend much time on “Thanksgiving Day” actually expressing gratitude.
