The Red Sox are a .500 team when Chris Sale doesn't start. Winless when he does.  Josh explores this oddity and other strange truths about April 2019, which can't end quickly enough for the Sox.  The two weekend losses to the Rays are recapped; Sale and Alex Cora both speak to the media; he Oakland series is previewed, injury updates are supplied.

Porcello is mellow and Chavis may save us.  (Nothing rhymes with Boegarts but he's playing well too.) Sox make it two in a row and five out of seven with a 7-3 cakewalk over Detroit.  Mookie's emerging, JBJ's looking better, Benintendi's suddenly a doubles machine, the bullpen is sizzling, etc. etc.   Josh recaps the Thursday night win and rolls in post-game sound from Chavis and Cora.  The rest of the homestand is previewed and a minor league no-hitter is celebrated.

Everyone got into the act Wednesday night vs the Tigers; even Dustin Pedroia from the bench. Eddie Rodriguez wins, JD Martinez gets back into the top five in the AL batting race, even JBJ hits a couple balls hard and no, he didn't step on a rake.  Josh reviews; Alex Cora weighs in; E-Rod explains Pedroia's stealth role in all of it.

Up go the Bruins, but down go the Sox. The kids are all right, so to speak: A long Michael Chavis HR, some dazzling fastballs from Darwinzon Hernzndez, but losing twice to Detroit in one day was downright lousy.  Josh reviews the day/night double header and throws in sound from Alex Cora and Chris Sale (better, but still winless.)

Tampa Bay's hockey team was just swept, and now it's happened to their baseball team too thanks to the Red Sox and their fearless leader... Christian Vazquez???  Josh gets to the bottom of a busy weekend that saw the Sox get back to within five in the AL East. Alex Cora and Marcus Walden sound included.

Nathan Eovaldi was great; JD Martinez went yard; a 3-0 lead was established. Then Brett Gardner happened and the Sox are now 6-13.  Oh, and Pedroia left the game in the second inning. It may be time to sacrafice a virgin soon. Josh reviews the latest loss, gets you post-game comments from Alex Cora and previews Ryan Stanek Bottle Opener Night (among other things) at the Trop this weekend.

When the best news of the day is that Blake Snell broke a toe in the shower and he'll miss his start this weekend, something's wrong. Another Blake (Swihart) moves on; andother brick in the wall (an 8-0 loss) gets installed. Josh reviews another Chris Sale defeat; Dave Dombrowski, Sale, and Alex Cora all meet the media.
