Whiskey Hotline Handpicked Sleepers
16/09/2022 Duração: 01h10minMost of the time when a Binny’s Handpicked Single Barrel comes in, it’s gone within a few weeks. Sometimes even quicker. The good news is the Whiskey Hotline picks hundreds of barrels every year, and because of there are a lot of hidden gems that get lost in the shuffle. Pat brought Joe, and a box of hidden Irish Whiskey, Bourbon, Rye, Armagnac, Rum and Scotch gems. The Binny’s name goes on these bottles because the Whiskey Hotline is excited about them. They turn down barrels all the time if they don’t meet their standards. And contrary to internet chatter, the Whiskey Hotline samples everything before buying a barrel, they don’t just let a Master Distiller picks a cask and then slaps a Binny’s logo on it. Sometimes there are so many Handpicked bottles in stores that it can become overwhelming, and they slip out of consciousness. Check your local Binny’s for all these hidden gems: Kilbeggan 16 year old Single Grain Select Batch # K05/218 Binny's Handpicked Teeling 15 year old Single Malt Finished in Amb

Vienna Lagers
02/09/2022 Duração: 43minUsually, the beer styles near and dear to Roger’s heart get no love. That’s not the case this week, as we delve into Vienna Lagers. Over the last few years, several local breweries have added Vienna Lagers to their line-ups. There are also some craft stalwarts that you might not have even realized were Vienna Lagers. If you’re a fan of Oktoberfest beers, and want them year-round, you’ll love Vienna Lagers. Viennas and Märzens were created at essentially at the same time, by a pair of friends who engaged in a little industrial espionage. Man, It's a Hot One (Hot Sauce Pairings)
19/08/2022 Duração: 01h14minThe Barrel to Bottle Crew has never shied away from spicy food, so it’s kind of hard to believe it’s taken us this long to do a hot sauce episode. Jenna recently attended a hot sauce festival, which Greg was prevented from going to by his significant other, and she brought back a slew of sauces, then added some of her own, along with one from producer Jim. The plan is simple: crack open a selection of beers, wines and spirits and sample sauces from mild to hottest and attempt to find which, if any of these beverage alcohols pair with spicy, vinegary, fruity, garlicky hot sauces. Pair along at home with the following: Avery Island Rascal Roaring Table Vienna Style Lager Bell's Porter Dry Creek Chenin Blanc 2021 Banshee Pinot Noir 2019 Elio Perrone Bigaro 2021 Vamanos Riendo Mezcal Joven Sweetens Cove Kennessee Bourbon Fernet Branca Cappelletti Amaro Alta Verde Jeppson's Barrel-Aged Malört If you have a question for the Barrel to Bottle Crew, email us at comments@binnys.com, or reach out to us on Facebook, Tw

As Drank on TV
12/08/2022 Duração: 51minChances are, if you make a pop culture reference on Barrel to Bottle, Jim will laugh at it, off mic. Tapping into his vast knowledge of useless information, Jim has crafted seven fictional cocktails from TV (and one book). From small town Indiana to medium city Pennsylvania to a bar where everybody knows your name to the deepest reaches of space, these cocktails are definitely liquid and they won't make you sick. Before the cocktails though, a little house cleaning; the Barrel to Bottle Crew made good on their promise to try Pakistani Mangoes. Visit the Barrel to Bottle blog for these recipes. Barrel to Bottle 269th Episode Spectacular
29/07/2022 Duração: 01h02minIt’s that time again…time for the Barrel to Bottle crew and producer Jim to take a break from podcasting. Luckily, we’ve been compiling clips from episodes that ran too long, segments that felt out-of-place and montages galore! But these clips are no mere castoffs. They are artfully curated segments that let the Barrel to Bottle crew dig deeper, get more esoteric, or say “Smooj” way too many times in a ten-minute span. If you have a question for the Barrel to Bottle Crew, email us at comments@binnys.com, or reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Barrel to Bottle: Old Ales and Barleywines part 1
01/07/2022 Duração: 50minPat considers himself an adventurous guy. Drinking a bunch of old ale and barleywine when it’s 100º is not his idea of adventurous though. Luckily the studio is cold, and the fan is on so he should be quite comfortable drinking all these heavy, high alcohol beers. Roger has been planning this episode for a very long time. He has verticals, he has barrel-aged variants. He even has a beer that he had to hunt down and bring into our Willowbrook location. Chris is a barleywine aficionado, who had the foresight to age barleywines. Start cellaring your own North Coast Old Stock ale now. Dogfish Head Brewery's Sam Calagione pt. 2
24/06/2022 Duração: 42minCanned cocktails are all the rage right now, but Dogfish Head has been perfecting their own recipes for the last twenty years. In part 2 of our interview with Sam Calagione we’re sampling through some of their vodka-based cocktails. When we first started tasting cocktails at Barrel to Bottle, we asked the question “if you were served this at a bar, would you order another one?” But now that the category has exploded, we have different parameters for how to judge them. Some beers in the Dogfish line didn’t quite take off with customers, because they were a little bit too out there. And speaking of that vast portfolio, how do they balance producing old favorites with continuing to innovate? Drink along at home with the following cocktails: Dogfish Head Blueberry Shrub Vodka Soda Dogfish Head Vodka Crush Dogfish Head Gin Crush Dogfish Head Cocktails Bar Cart If you have a question for the Barrel to Bottle Crew, email us at comments@binnys.com, or reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Crushable Summer Beers
20/05/2022 Duração: 54minCue the Meatballs theme song…are you ready for the summer? It’s a Roger episode, specifically summer beers. And while it’s still spring, we record this episode when it’s swelteringly hot. Seasonality means almost nothing in beer now, which means we have summer beers already (and we’ll have Oktoberfest beers in July). Summer beers should be-as a guest once said- “CRUSHABLE”. That means they’re very drinkable, which is probably why breweries love summer beers so much. After sneaking in an 8.5% hard cider during last year’s Summer Beer episode, Roger understood the assignment this year. Some of these beers are seasonal offerings, while some of them are year-round beers that fit the general idea of an easy-drinking beer that you want to load into a cooler and drink very cold. Drink along at home with the following crushable summer beers: Brooklyn Summer Ale Saison Dupont Off Color Beer For Golf 21st Amendment Hell of High Watermelon Bell's Tropical Oberon Great Lakes Tropicoastal Goose Island 312 Lemonade Shandy
