    The Round of 16 first legs culminated with late drama, as Porto’s talisman Galeno struck an injury time stunner to break Arsenal hearts. Elsewhere in Italy, it was a battle of the goalscoring number nines as Victor Osimhen cancelled out Robert Lewandowski’s first half strike to earn Napoli a 1-1 draw with Barcelona. We hear from Barca midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on the two world class strikers as well as Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Declan Rice, who is optimistic ahead of the 2nd leg despite his side’s narrow defeat. 

  • Inter edge Atletico, PSV held by Dortmund

    The Round of 16 continued with two more absorbing first leg encounters. In Milan, Inter overcame Atletico 1-0 at the San Siro courtesy of a late Marko Arnautovic strike. While in Eindhoven, PSV and Dortmund played out a evenly fought 1-1 draw with a Luke de Jong penalty cancelling out an early Donyell Malen strike for the Germans. We hear from Arnautovic as well as team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak. We also look ahead to Wednesday’s first leg encounters and hear from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. 

  • Paris and Lazio make home advantage count

    Paris Saint-Germain began the knockout stage with an impressive 2-0 home victory in their round of 16 first leg tie against Real Sociedad, with Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, Lazio surprised 10 man Bayern in Rome, winning 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to a Ciro Immobile penalty. We hear from Paris’ Player of the Match Kylian Mbappe, as well as Bayern forwards Harry Kane and Thomas Muller.

  • City and Real take first leg control

    The Round of 16 got underway in style with impressive first leg away victories for the competition’s last two winners, Manchester City and Real Madrid. City overcame a determined Copenhagen side 3-1 in Denmark thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden. While in Germany, a second half Brahim Diaz strike put Real in control of their tie against RB Leipzig. We hear from City manager Pep Guardiola, Copenhagen’s goalscorer Magnus Mattsson and Real Madrid’s French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. 

  • Porto and Paris progress on night of high drama

    The final night of the UEFA Champions League group stage was full of drama, with Paris and Porto completing the line-up for the knockouts. But whilst they progressed, it was heartbreak for Milan, Newcastle and Shakhtar with their journey in Europe’s elite club competition coming to an end. Elsewhere, Atletico finished top of Group E with a win over Lazio. Celtic, Antwerp, Leipzig and Manchester City also secured victories. We hear from Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and Paris manager Luis Enrique.

    On a pulsating night of UEFA Champions League action, Copenhagen secured their spot in the knockout stage with victory over Galatasaray, whilst Napoli progressed by virtue of a 2-0 win against Braga. Elsewhere, Manchester United’s European season ended with defeat to Bayern. Madrid, Benfica and Lens finished their group stage campaigns with victories, whilst PSV and Arsenal played out an entertaining 1-1 draw. We hear from Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, Bayern’s talismanic striker Harry Kane, and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

  • Arsenal and PSV progress, MD6 showdowns set up

    Arsenal and PSV both confirmed their qualification for the last 16 from Group B. The Gunners impressed by beating Lens 6-0, while PSV pulled off a sensational comeback against Sevilla. In Group A, Galatasaray and Manchester United played out a pulsating 3-3 tie, and Copenhagen held Bayern to a goalless draw, setting up a fascinating battle for the final spot on Matchday 6. Napoli’s defeat to Real Madrid, and Braga’s draw mean they will also fight it out for a place in the Round of 16.   • Atletico, Barca, Dortmund and Lazio progress to the Round of 16

    Four more teams confirmed their places in the Champions League Round of 16, after impressive Matchday 5 wins for Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Lazio. In the Parc des Princes, Kylian Mbappe’s late penalty rescued a point for Paris to deny Newcastle a memorable away win and tee up a tense three way battle for second spot in Group F on Matchday 6 after Milan lost at home to Dortmund. In Group G, Manchester City sealed top spot with a 3-2 comeback win over Leipzig and in Group H, Barcelona beat Porto 2-1 to progress to the knockout stage, with Shakhtar setting up a winner takes all Matchday 6 clash with Porto after they overcame Antwerp 1-0 in Hamburg. We hear from Joe Hart, Memphis Depay, Phil Foden, Pep Guardiola, Alexander Isak, Luis Enrique and Raphael Wicky. 

  • Bayern, Inter, Madrid and Real Sociedad seal last 16 spots

    Real Sociedad booked their place in the knockout stage for the first time since 2004 after impressively beating Benfica 3-1, becoming one of four teams to qualify for the last 16 on Wednesday. A Harry Kane brace ensured Bayern’s progression, while Real Madrid and Inter sealed their spots with victories. Elsewhere, Arsenal go top of Group B thanks to their win over Sevilla, and a late winner from 17 year-old Roony Bardghji made it a night to remember for Copenhagen as they beat Manchester United 4-3. Bayern beat Galatasaray while elsewhere in Group A, Andre Onana’s dramatic penalty save rescued a vital victory for Manchester United on an emotional night at Old Trafford. There were also wins for Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Napoli, while Arsenal move to the top of Group B thanks to an assured win at Sevilla.

    It was another dramatic night of UEFA Champions League action, as Newcastle hit four past Paris St Germain at a bouncing St James Park, and Barcelona held on for a hard fought 1-0 win in Porto. Elsewhere, Man City and Lazio left it late to secure away wins over Leipzig and Celtic respectively, while the two early games were both five goal thrillers, with Atletico beating Feyenoord 3-2 and Shakhtar coming from two goals down to overcome newcomers Antwerp in Belgium.  We hear from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, Atletico striker Alvaro Morata, and Pep Guardiola, Rico Lewis and Phil Foden from the Man City camp.

  • Madrid and Galatasaray win UEFA Champions League thrillers

An extraordinary evening also saw PSV score deep into injury time to rescue a point against Sevilla. Early on in the night, Jude Bellingham’s late goal dramatically sealed a win for Real Madrid over Union, while Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. It finished all square in two other games but there were wins for Napoli, Salzburg and Arsenal, who capped their return to the Champions League with an impressive home win over PSV Eindhoven, 4-0.   • Man City, Barca and Paris impress on opening night

Barcelona, Paris and Feyenoord enjoyed comfortable home victories - we hear from Barca’s new striker Joao Felix who starred by scoring a double on his Champions League debut for the club. Elsewhere there were away wins for Leipzig and Porto, and we get the thoughts of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, whose team earned a hard fought point in Milan. However, the moment of the night came in Rome, with Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel scoring an extraordinary late header to earn his side a dramatic point against Atletico.

  • Man City Conquer Europe

    Manchester City overcame Inter Milan 1-0 in a closely fought Istanbul final to claim their first ever Champions League title. A second half strike from Rodri proved the difference as Pep Guardiola’s men sealed a historic treble.
