THE INTERNET - Podcasters Timothy Deal and Nicholas Hayden interviewed freelance newswriter Laura Finch for Episode 91 of the Derailed Trains of Thought podcast. Finch, who writes for World Magazine, explained how newswriting is like storytelling, how audio reporting differs from written reporting, and how to let facts speak for themselves. The interview, which was broadcast during the initial portion of the podcast called Story School, was followed by Deal and Hayden discussing summer blockbusters. There are many different types of logic in the world. Logic states that 1+1=2. It also states that your ability to survive a cataclysmic disaster exponentially increases if you are a well-loved furry animal. In other words, some logic is, well, logical, while other logic is more, shall we say, emotional. Or so Timothy and Nick discuss in this month's Story School.
