This week’s Ohio Democratic Podcast is a conversation with Julia Bryan, the international chair of Democrats Abroad, the official Democratic Party arm for the millions of Americans living outside the United States. Democrats Abroad has 42 country committees throughout Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. These country committees keep Americans abroad informed of their rights and help them participate in the U.S. political process. Democrats Abroad members live in more than 190 countries around the globe and vote in every state and congressional district in the U.S.

This week’s Ohio Democratic Podcast features Ohio Democratic Party Vice Chair Rhine McLin. In 2002, McLin became the third African-American mayor and the first woman mayor in the city’s history. She previously served six years in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1988 to 1994 and was then elected state Senator for the 5th Senate District, serving Montgomery and Miami Counties. When elected in 1994, she became the first African-American woman to serve in the Ohio Senate. In 1998, McLin was elected by her peers to serve in leadership as the Democratic Whip. Two years later, she was elected again to serve in the Senate leadership as Democratic Leader.
