Episódios

  • #461 Draining the Swamp

    05/03/2025 Duração: 30min

The elites who run DC have earned the nickname “The Swamp” because of the way they’ve been running the government for their own benefit for decades rather than doing what’s best for the American people.  The current administration has pledged to drain the swamp and return control of the government to the people. This week, the FAIRtax Guys look at an article in the American Thinker that details a perfect way to accomplish that goal—replace the income tax with the FAIRtax.

  • #460 DOGE and the IRS

    26/02/2025 Duração: 30min

It’s official.  President Trump has announced that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency will look into the inner workings of the IRS.  We don’t know exactly when that will happen, but we’ve got a pretty good idea of what they’ll find.To that end, the FAIRtax Guys look at an Epoch Times article on the subject, and look forward to the day when the American people find out just how wasteful and inefficient the IRS really is.

  • #459 An Economist Looks at Taxation

    19/02/2025 Duração: 33min

It’s inevitable that any discussion of President Trump’s plan to eliminate the income tax will be tainted with politics.Consequently, the FAIRtax Guys asked economist David Kendall to take a look at income taxes vs. consumption taxes strictly within the realm of the science of economics.  When you strip away the politics, there’s clearly a good way and a bad way to fund the federal government.

  • #458 The FAIRtax on Social Media - Part 2

    12/02/2025 Duração: 30min

  • #457 The FAIRtax on Social Media - Part 1

    05/02/2025 Duração: 29min

If you want to know which issues are commanding the attention of the American public, just check social media.  If you have a message that you want people to hear, putting it on social media is a good way to do it.This week, FAIRtax Power Radio begins a two part series with AFFT Social Media Director Randy Fischer.  The good news is that the level of interest in the FAIRtax on social media has never been higher.

  • #456 Using Social Media

    29/01/2025 Duração: 29min

The good news is that as 2025 begins, there is an unprecedented level of interest in the FAIRtax thanks in large part to President Trump’s stated desire to get rid of the income tax.  The bad news is that there is a lot of misinformation and negative opinion being presented as fact about the FAIRtax in social media circles. This week, FAIRtax Guy Bob Scarborough delves into some of the social media exchanges he has had regarding the FAIRtax, and shares some advice for FAIRtax supporters on how to successfully engage FAIRtax skeptics on social media.

  • #455 2025 Cosponsors

    22/01/2025 Duração: 29min

The 119th Congress has begun and once again, the FAIRtax has been introduced as HR 25.  Georgia Congressman Buddy Carter is again the primary sponsor.  The number of cosponsors on a piece of legislation is a good indication of how much support it has.  Therefore, it’s important that we get as many cosponsors on the FAIRtax bill as possible. This week, the FAIRtax Guys examine where HR 25’s cosponsorship stands in the new Congress.

  • #454 The Proper Corporate Tax Rate

    15/01/2025 Duração: 30min

“Rich corporations need to pay their fair share of taxes”.  That may be enticing political rhetoric, but it’s an economic fallacy.  Corporations don’t pay taxes.  While they might have to write a check to Uncle Sam, the money to pay those taxes inevitably comes from the pockets of individuals. This week, the FAIRtax Guys look at an article written by a former North Carolina state representative that rightfully concludes that the corporate tax rate should be zero—exactly what it would be under the FAIRtax.

  • #453 State of the FAIRtax

    08/01/2025 Duração: 34min

January 2025 marks the beginning of a new Congressional session, the 119th Congress.  The new year also marks the first time that we’ve had a President of the United States who is on record as wanting to get rid of the income tax.To start off the new year, AFFT president Steve Hayes joins the FAIRtax Guys for his annual “State of the FAIRtax” analysis.

  • #452 2024 Tax Proposal Hall of Shame

    01/01/2025 Duração: 30min

All year, the FAIRtax Guys have been taking a weekly look at what the Congress Critters are proposing to do to the tax code.  Some of their proposals are somewhat humorous.  Some are maddening, and some are just plain baffling as to why something like that would be in the tax code.As 2024 draws to a close, the Guys are pleased to present their 2024 Tax Proposal Hall of Shame featuring the best of the best, or in some cases, the worst of the worst proposals to change the tax code over the past year.

  • #451 Crazy Facts About the IRS

    25/12/2024 Duração: 29min

With Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy poised to take a look at the IRS in their search for government waste and inefficiency, the FAIRtax Guys thought it would be interesting to take a look at what they might find.So this week, the Guys dig into an article published at factretriever.com that lists “60 Interesting Facts About the IRS”.  Just about every one of them is a testament to why the IRS needs to be put out of business by the FAIRtax.

  • #450 Waste and Inefficiency at the IRS

    18/12/2024 Duração: 29min

It’s been common knowledge for decades that the IRS is the poster child for government waste and inefficiency.  But just how wasteful and inefficient can that agency be?This week, the FAIRtax Guys try to answer that question by looking at a Government Accounting Office report on the subject.  What they found will astound you, but it really shouldn’t surprise you.

  • #449 Can DOGE Kill the IRS

    11/12/2024 Duração: 29min

When President Trump takes office in January, he will put Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to work ferreting out waste and inefficiency in the federal government.  The new Department of Government Efficiency is really just a Presidential advisory panel with no power to make cuts on its own, but Musk has stated that he thinks he can find $2 trillion that can be cut from the federal budget. The FAIRtax Guys respectfully submit that the IRS would be an incredibly target rich environment in the hunt for government waste and inefficiency.  The entire agency is unnecessary given that the FAIRtax can replace the revenue generated by the income tax, and the FAIRtax will be administered by the states.

  • #448 The Rest of the Story - Part 2

    27/11/2024 Duração: 30min

Today’s major news media have long abandoned any pretense that they have a responsibility to present the news in a fair and impartial manner.  What passes for “news” today is really reporters and editors trying to bring you around to their way of thinking.  Consequently, it’s no surprise that media outlets emphasize stories, ignore stories and tell only the parts of a story that fit the narrative they’re trying to push. With President Trump on record as favoring getting rid of the income tax, expect that more and more people are going to be looking at the FAIRtax as an alternative to the income tax.   This week, the FAIRtax Guys conclude their “The Rest of the Story” series telling you things about the FAIRtax that you likely will not hear in the legacy media.

  • #447 Trump and the FAIRtax

    20/11/2024 Duração: 31min

President Trump’s re-election gives us the best chance we’ve ever had to pass the FAIRtax.  This is the first time in history that a US President is on record as wanting to abolish the income tax.  We may not get another golden opportunity like this in our lifetime. This week, AFFT president Steve Hayes joins the FAIRtax Guys to discuss what a second Trump administration means for the FAIRtax and what we as grass roots FAIRtax supporters can do to help bring this historic shift in power from the government to the people to fruition.

  • #446 The Rest of the Story - Part 1

    13/11/2024 Duração: 28min

Research has shown that more and more Americans don’t trust the media to tell them the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  Increasingly, both broadcast and print media outlets are emphasizing stories, ignoring stories and telling only the parts of a story that fit the political narrative they’re trying to push.  Consequently, it’s not surprising that there’s a lot about the FAIRtax that you won’t hear in today’s legacy media.  This week, the FAIRtax Guys begin a two part series detailing things about the FAIRtax that today’s media won’t tell you.

  • #445 Tariffs or the FAIRtax

    06/11/2024 Duração: 28min

On several occasions, Donald Trump has said he would like to eliminate the income tax system and use tariffs as the primary means of funding the government.  While it’s encouraging to see a major party Presidential candidate embrace the idea of getting rid of the income tax, are tariffs an appropriate replacement? This week, the FAIRtax Guys take on that question and explain why the FAIRtax would be much better replacement for the income tax than tariffs.

  • #444 FTPR at WTOB

    30/10/2024 Duração: 31min

  • #443 The FAIRtax and Low Income Taxpayers

    23/10/2024 Duração: 30min

It’s an objection we hear over and over again—"Sales taxes are regressive.  The FAIRtax will be a huge tax break for the rich and it will hurt the poor.”  That may be true for typical sales taxes, but the FAIRtax is NOT like other sales taxes. This week the FAIRtax Guys dig into the research library at fairtax.org and discuss an article written by economist Dr. Karen Walby.  Dr. Walby shows conclusively that while the FAIRtax does indeed benefit those with higher incomes, it’s those at the lower end of the economic scale that benefit the most.

    16/10/2024 Duração: 30min

Taxes have been a fact of life from the days of the earliest civilizations, and there have been some truly bizarre things within the realm of taxation.  But no tax system the earth has ever seen has been nuttier and more bizarre that the federal income tax system in the United States. This week, the FAIRtax Guys look at an article from 2017 outlining 71 mind blowing facts about taxation.  Not all of it relates to the federal income tax, but there are still plenty of reasons why the income tax should be scrapped and replaced with the FAIRtax.
