Stamford Chidge is joined by Chelsea Legend Kerry Dixon to preview Chelsea's match away to Middlesbrough on Sunday. Chidge and Kerry go down memory lane to 1988 - a very typical Chelsea season at the time, where we became the only First division club to be relegated in a play off...to Middlesbrough. Kerry also talks about winning the much vaunted (!) Full Members Cup against Middlesbrough in 1990. In the process we look back at Kerry's move to Southampton in 1992; praise Chelsea's trouncing of Man Utd last weekend and applaud a rejuvenated Matic. There are some days when it is a pure joy to watch Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Yesterday was one of those days. The collective outburst of joy that greeted the opening goal scored after a mere 30 seconds said it all, and it just kept going and going. Smashing the Mancs 4-0 would be good enough on any normal day, but to do it on the day when we honoured Matthew Harding and ruined Jose Mourinho's return in the process was the icing on the cake! Chelsea left it late for the second game in a row this season snatching victory from the jaws of defeat courtesy of a debut goal from Batshuayi and Costa. It was déjà vu with Costa netting the winner having been lucky not get a second yellow and his marching orders, just like against West Ham. But do we care? Not a bit. Conte’s subs fitted like the natty cap he sported during the game, Fabregas patently making the difference with a superb pass for Costa’s goal. Loads of chances created but not being clinical enough; Hazard back to his mercurial best; Costa misbehaving and incurring the wrath of a crazed media. But, so good to get off to a winning start. I for one wish the applauding of Leicester players and their goal had never happened – another poor indictment of modern football and its fans.
