UCR #017 by Rolandson
15/02/2016 Duração: 01h11minOur friend and captain of the Baltic seas, Rolandson, has exchanged his boat for a cosmic spacecraft to navigate the waves of his music collection in the next UCR podcast. This traveler of tunes began his voyage in 1997 and has since explored the depths of 90s Berlin dub, techno, electro swing, deep house, downbeat and indigenous sounds from all over the world, discovering many more musical impulses that have shaped his life along the years. His selections are always a highly curated combination of unique tracks that are timeless and that overcome the boundaries of genre, country, or context. This podcast was dedicated to the moon, to the stars and to the wonders that make up the milky way. Inspired by the space oddity of David Bowie, he invites us to take our protein pills, leave the capsule and follow him on a journey through his mind. We close our eyes and say AHOY! to the wonders that lie ahead! Find Rolandson on: https://soundcloud.com/rolandson https://soundcloud.com/rolandsons-seasidetrip www.face

UCR #016 by Nicola Noir
01/02/2016 Duração: 01h42minIf Nicola Noir’s soundscape were a landscape, it wouldn’t be the mountains of his native Switzerland. It would be a milky way of colours and spinning planets, with shooting stars whizzing by and the occasional Urban Cosmonaut Spaceship hovering on the horizon, listening intently for the next surprise in their ears. Off and up we go, left and right and topsy turvy into the the 16th episode of our podcast series. Nicola’s productions are gateways into spheres of twinkling melodies, timeless wormholes and shining percussions. His sound could be described as a jittering wave of melancholia, wrapped in eclectic rhythms of longing and stardust. From where we can see here in our spaceship, the view looks pretty damn beautiful. We look forward to the ride ** Find Nicola Noir on: https://soundcloud.com/nicola-noir www.facebook.com/NicolaNoirMusic

UCR #014 by Leichtigkeit Des Seins
11/01/2016 Duração: 01h36minLadies and gentlemen, welcome aboard Urban Cosmonaut Radio Flight No.14. Your captains on this cosmic flight today are Leichtigkeit des Seins - a musically impassioned duo from the Ural Mountains of Russia. During the course of this flight we will be passing over the somewhat rocky territory of percussive beat rhythms, over wide fields of lush melodies and occasional oriental winds blowing in from the East. The pilots will guide you on a trip through their own musical adventures, a continuing journey that started in mid 2013. Since then, Leichtigkeit des Seins have travelled through the musicverse with a jet fueled with passion and an ear for a distinct sound, leaving behind traces of their discoveries in their sets. This podcast was recorded for your listening pleasure in the cold winter light of day, in a place inspired by intercosmic radio waves and rare musical shooting stars. Please fasten your seatbelts and place your headphones as instructed by a crew member. We wish you a pleasant flight and hope to

UCR New Years Day by Dogu Civicik
01/01/2016 Duração: 55minWe continue our journey with Dogu Civicik, a selfdescribed “guy with a funny last name and an unquenchable thirst for music”. Our next Urban Cosmonaut is somewhat disillusioned with adult life: he strives to recreate sentiments from the past, when everything seemed clear and simple, and when the music persisted long after its time. While his style fluctuates in tune with his current mood, the music itself is meant to be anything but temporary. It’s meant to last long after the ebb and flow of genres and styles has died down. “My roots lie in Anatolia so does my soul, and so does my music.” His work is infused with the sounds of his heritage that helped Dogu Civicik grow into who he is: an artist who has never known the limitations of genres, growing up listening to 70’s jazz and funk and being exposed to traditional Turkish music from his grandfather. This mixtape is a mélange of Dogu’s own edits and productions, inspired by feelings of misanthropy when he’s confronted by

UCR New Years Eve by C.Love (Le Chemin De L'Hiver)
31/12/2015 Duração: 46minTo characterize a chameleon, “our heroine has known both holy & horrendous”. Her edits reveal the darker sides of the moon most of us think we don’t want to see. Her sets are a collage of her own self: dreamy, strangely healing and infused in mysticism. Such is the complexity that completes C.love, who creates under the names Courtney Rexach, Zouyina, and Sisters of Z. C.love understands her music as an audio pathway to other realities. We see her as a guide, leading us through a gateway to other galaxies to worlds that are tainted with natural elements and delightfully deranging sounds. This next podcast in our Urban Cosmonaut Radio series was named “Le Chemin de l’Hiver”: inspired by the growing length of the dark night, the death and rebirth of the seasons and the fire that lit the mountain studio in which this mixtape was created. A child of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, hailing from LA with roots in Mauguio, France, C.love has selected 25 tracks, none of whom were left untouched by the artist, all

UCR #013 by Salvador Araguaya
21/12/2015 Duração: 01h03minOnce upon a time, there was a 13 year old boy who fell in love at first sight with an old Brazilian violao. That boy was Salvador Araguaya, Urban Cosmonaut Radio podcaster #13 in our trip through the musicverse. His first guitar triggered a lifelong musical adventure, spending 7 years exploring different genres, playing in many bands and nurturing a love for ancestral black music of northeastern Brazil. Inevitably, he was enchanted by Voodoohop’s fusion of electronic and Brazilian sounds and eventually started making music in the beginning of 2015. Since then, Salvador Araguaya has moved and swayed the dancefloors with his DJ sets at many Sonido Tropico (@sonidotropico) parties. His recent own productions like “Cotovelo de Serra” on Caballito have given us a glimpse of the start of his musical evolution. His own tracks are infused with digital cumbia elements and traces of folk and ethnic deep house like in “Mora na Filosofia (Caetano Veloso)” as well as in this mixtape that you’re about to hear. O

UCR #012 by Txäi
07/12/2015 Duração: 01h17minTXÄI is the indigenous name of the next Urban Cosmonaut in this series, meaning: more than a friend, more than a brother, half of him lives in you and half of you in him, a fusion of artist and listener. While listening to his mixtape – you fall in and out, back and forth, left and right between continents and tribes, expressions and sounds, beats and melodies. What started as a New Year’s Eve party playlist 3 years ago quickly became a journey into the world of mixing music. Eventually, this led to the birth of ‘CasaCaos’ – a musical collective of passionate, chaoscontaminated bodies channeling their exploration of music in an online label. Many of the tracks in Urban Cosmonaut Podcast #12 are upcoming CasaCaos label releases, blended in with forest sound samples, an outtake of a Brazilian poem by Manuel Bandeira and a mosaic of a frenetic/acid/wet Txäi favourites, recorded at 4 am after waking up to the sound of silence. Houston, we’re ready for takeoff. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

UCR #011 by Gama
23/11/2015 Duração: 01h56min“I am a constant weather change” says Matheus Gama, whose endless music is a play of sounds and silences. For Gama who lives in Rio de Janeiro but belongs to nowhere the cities we live in are frenetic, chaotic, hard places for sensitive people. This mix was created as a break – - - - - - where listeners can disconnect from the frenzy of everyday life. But if you listen closely, you’ll hear a symphony of sounds – voices and drums, jingles and claps, basses and organic rhythms. Noises you’ve heard a thousand times before but cannot place, and slow drives that oscillate back and forth until finally they become one dynamic reverie. Gama’s sound is one that slips out of your hands and into the atmosphere...when you try to hold it long enough to describe it. So let’s close our eyes and float through the stars with the next podcast in the Urban Cosmonaut Radio series. See you in 1,5 hours. Find Gama o

UCR #010 by Barda
09/11/2015 Duração: 01h05min“Q: What inspired this podcast? A: It was created in the days when spring begins, and then the spring never came.” Barda’s galactic Urban Cosmonaut Radio podcast #10 was born in longing for blooming flowers and sunny days in Buenos Aires...and yet it’s a colourful hybrid of melancholy, warmth and cumbia rhythms, taking us on a ride through the Patagonian steppe where we dance to sayas and cumbias, traces of dub and minimal, sounds of guitars and synths, and memories of Peruvian chicha. The next set in this series is an eclectic blend of Cecilia Gebhard aka Barda’s own productions, remixes and mashups. Her musical roots are influenced by the textures of trip hop, electronic downtempo and her very first musical memory of The Beatles performing “Let It Be” on TV as a young child. After. singing and playing drums and guitar in rock bands as a teenager, she started producing music in 2013. Spring may never have come to Buenos Aires, but something beautiful blossomed here in the Urban Cosmic Universe. Let’

UCR #006 by David Mears (SENSA III: VARANASI)
14/09/2015 Duração: 01h46minThe artist - and traveler at heart - David Mears was born in the south of France and is currently based in Paris. He started to produce “math rock” 3 years ago, but since then David’s music has evolved into a reflection of himself: emotional, deep, a blend of different places, stories and sensitivities. This UCR podcast is the third episode in his SENSA trilogy and is named after a powerful place in India that inspired him so much, he decided to record its native sounds to create the beginning of this set. VARANASI was produced like all of David’s music: he composes different elements, one after the other, and then records everything live in one take. The result is beautiful sets that build up slowly, move in waves and take the listener on a melancholic journey throbbing with heartbeats. He considers music to be about exchange and encourages other musicians, dancers and performers to collaborate with him during shows. So sit back, get into Cosmonaut mode and immerse yourself in the profound narrative of Dav

UCR #004 by Baru
17/08/2015 Duração: 59minBaru has been a DJ for almost 15 years and, after a while living in Spain, got inspired by South American and Spanish organic live music. Since last year produces his own tracks. In the search for his own original sound, he experiments with mixing organic samples from areas such as roots and world music with contemporary electronic music directions. While making a UCR-podcast, he imagined what it would be like to walk through the streets of the city while listening to this on headphones: lost in thoughts, dreaming… and occasionally interrupted by the noise of traffic. Here comes a mobile soundtrack for urban cosmonauts in the search for their roots… Enjoy! UCR #003 by Lotte Ahoi
04/08/2015 Duração: 01h33minLotte Ahoi is a multiculturally inspired and multitasking DJ, graphic designer and collector of music gems. In order to understand what moves her and what moves her listeners, one has to imagine the nature of a sloth a sloth that loves* music but hates* stress, instead choosing to hang on a tree, watching the flowers grow and waiting for the sun to shine in her ears. Inspired by the emerging generation of electronic music producers interpreting their own and other’s musical roots in genreblind fusions of sounds, her sets tend to break with tradition without actually breaking them at all giving the “almost forgotten but anyway wonderful music” a spotlight on a stage they deserve. Her fascination with what she calls the “RemixEditReworkGeneration” drives her never-ending search for diamonds in the rough. And on most days, you can find Lotte digging for diamonds all over the musical spectrum, slowly weaving them together in a slowmomoving and sneakily surprising wave of funkumbiafror
