063 The Right Question with Aprille Janes
04/11/2014 Duração: 13min1. Instead of asking "HOW" all the time, we need to take a step back and take a lesson from kids. The real question is never "HOW". It’s "WHY" or "WHY NOT" or (my favourite) "WHAT IF". Because we all know that if we really want to do something we’ll figure out the HOW later. Curiosity is a trait we need to value more and nurture if we are to be successful in business. Curiosity is the heart of innovation and growth. Innovation creates value and awareness of our brand. And that's bold!

057 Walt Disney, Bold Dreamer with Aprille Janes
13/10/2014 Duração: 13minThere’s a lot of value in looking at the journeys of people who achieved maximum impact through their passion and sense of purpose. People like Jane Goodall who I spoke about in Episode 50. Which is why I'm sharing another story about someone who successfully blended passion with purpose - Walt Disney. (Besides I do love a good story.) When I teach a writing class the first thing I tell students is NOT to compare their work with anyone else's but especially not with their heros. The same advice holds true if you are building a purpose-based business. There will be a lot of rough drafts and hard work between you and the future you envision. If you trust the process and follow the path as it appears it can be even more amazing than you could have imagined. Walt Disney's experience has a lot to teach us about passion and perseverance.

You don’t have time to flounder around confusing people! Spraying and praying that your marketing will work is a huge waste of your precious time and money. TIP Make 3 Lists to Help You Identify Your Ideal Client 1. Who do you admire? Who would make your day – your year (!) if they phoned you today? Living or dead, who’s on YOUR VIP list? 2. Who DON’T you enjoy working with? What qualities in someone else aren’t a good fit for you? It doesn’t mean they are awful human beings, rather you just don’t connect. 3. 050 Jane Goodall, Bolder Woman with Aprille Janes
21/09/2014 Duração: 14minRecently I met one of my lifelong heroes – Dr. Jane Goodall. I’m happy to report, I’m an even BIGGER fan now. As I mentioned in my last episode I was challenged about my use of the word ‘bolder’ and the baggage some people attach to that word. After observing Dr Goodall I now know exactly what it looks like when a Bolder Woman lives her life on purpose. Dame Jane Goodall is the ideal example of the difference each of us can make if and when we are willing to take risks and seize opportunity. What about you? I firmly believe we each have something we need to be up to in this world. It may not be on as big a stage as Jane Goodall’s but there is a role for you. Someone, somewhere is waiting for what you have to offer.

It’s time to bust this myth wide open. Patti Pokorchak is an award winning marketing and sales executive, with 30+ years of experience at IBM, Siemens, and many startup companies. Self-employed since 1992, she helped start and run a multi-million dollar software company for 10 years, before opening a thriving garden centre and hobby farm. She says “If I can be a farmer, then you can be anything you want to be — with some basic sales and marketing skills that is!”. Patti was NOT a born salesperson – she was a trained programmer, after dropping her quest to be an accountant – all great geeky careers. While at IBM, even after she went on a grueling two week residential sales course, she was still a nervous shy introverted sales person. And then she discovered something. Today, Patti LOVES to sell and has deconstructed her mill

047 Claim Your Bold
15/09/2014 Duração: 14minI was the guest on a radio show recently and they questioned me about the use of the word “bolder”, especially for women. Many women have negative connotations to the word, equating it with ‘aggressive’ and all that THAT word brings up. The messaging many of received in our formative years was ‘Don’t be so bold. People will talk.” The inference (or directly spoken ) was the people won’t like you if you’re too bold. If you’re trying to get your message heard in this noisy, crowded market place, then you MUST challenge those messages. Why? Because quite frankly, you WANT people to talk about you, your business, your products and services. Don’t you? However, Let’s make them talk for the right reasons. Lets’ look at the positive side of “BOLD”.
