In Nehemiah 6, we read that Nehemiah and the Israelites faced obstacles and opposition, even after they thought they were home free! Today, Pastor Jon teaches on how we can learn from Nehemiah as we face the great enemy, the "father of lies", the devil. Before you write off the devil as mere superstition, examine your own life. How might there be an enemy at work to thwart your growth as a person and your awareness of God's love? Today, we identify 4 ways the enemy works and remember how God, through Jesus Christ, has equipped us to defend every attack the devil throws at us.

If someone were to ask you how you know your faith is true, sincere, the real thing...what would you say? Our salvation is not earned by good works, but our salvation should certainly be demonstrated through good works! This week, Pastor Jon teaches from Nehemiah 5. Here, in this chapter, God lays out 3 key attitudes His followers should have towards money, displayed through the life of Nehemiah. If your faith needs a JUMP-START, buckle up and watch this!

Today, Pastor Jon preaches from Nehemiah 4 and 6. Nehemiah has been tasked by God to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, but in this part of the story he faces critics and doubters. In our own lives, we too will face our fair share of opposition, from those close to us and even from ourselves! God's power helps us reframe the adversity we face into an opportunity to depend on Him and grow as a disciple of Jesus. Dr. Scott Lisea (Campus Pastor at Westmont College) takes us through Nehemiah 3, a list of the names of those who contributed to the rebuilding of Jerusalem's temple. As Oceanhills is just beginning to return to a weekly, in-person gathering, Dr. Lisea challenges us to ask the question, "What kind of church are we rebuilding?" One thing is for sure: all of us, like the names in Chapter 3, have a part to play in the mission of God moving forward!
