Philip and Jerika take a moment to discuss Global Impact, an organization that truly makes a difference world wide. Through partnerships and resources Global Impact works directly with charitable organizations on the ground and in the workplace to make a positive difference in our world.  

Jerika and Philip talk about the enrichment of incarcerated individuals, homeless animals, and the community through the bond of humans to animals relationships. Prison Pet Partnership is located in Pierce county and works with the Washington Corrections Center for Women. 

Creating a safe space in a country struck by civil war, increasing refugees and oppression is a uphill battle, but Roots of South Sudan is helping their country though a mission is to empower women and youth. They provide a safe environment for mothers and their young children to work and learn job skill, literacy, while preserving traditional Sudanese arts and crafts.

Why is this important? Because costs of caring for a child with autism can total up to $2.3 million over the span of his or her lifetime and that will effect a family and the community the child lives in. Special Olympics of Washington transforms the lives through the joy of sport, each and every day. Philip and Jerika discuss the importance this organization brings to Washington state and highlights the needs of people with intellectual disabilities.  

Philip and Jerika sat down for our 13th episode of the Daily Drip to discuss Cheney Outreach Center. An organization that assists elderly, ill, disabled, homeless and low-income persons/families. Their services are faith-based and work with a coalition of 10 Cheney area churches. 

45% of kids eat breakfast provided by school in Washington. 70% of Graham Hill, a Title 1 elementary in South Seattle, provide free and reduced lunches. Their impact to the community starts child at a time. Take a listen.

500,000 refugees currently reside in Kenya (from South Sudan and Somalia). Path From Poverty partners with women's groups to collect water, establish income-generating projects, female education, and so much more. Philip and Jerika talk about this international charity and issues in these countries.

Who was your mentor? 1 in 3 young people grow up without one. Philip and Jerika talk about BBBS of Southwest Washington who help pair a mentor with a child that may be facing adversity to provide support to them one-on-one. 

1 in 4 Native Americans live in Poverty. Chief Seattle Club provides sacred space to nurture, affirm and renew the spirit of urban Native Americans through medical and housing services. Philip and Jerika talk about needs in these communities and how Chief Seattle Club is helping.
