The Syracuse Orange made it back to the bowls this season and senior MIKE Derrell Smith was a critical component to their resurgent season. The Big East man led the Orange in tackles (114), forced fumbles (three) and fumble recoveries (three) while tacking on nine tackles for loss as a senior. Not just a star on the field, the All-Big East performer was a regular member on the Syracuse Honor Roll and the Big East's All-Academic teams.
