Walt Zerbe just attended AES 2019 (the Audio Engineering Society conference in New York) and the focus was immersive and interactive audio. Walt shares the answers to these (and many other) questions: Is stereo really dead? Is immersive music the answer since surround mixes didn’t make the cut? How are engineers going to remix older tracks for 3D audio? How are engineers recreate acoustic spaces virtually? What’s the difference between “analytic” and “synthetic” hearing?  What was the upshot of the “loudness war” in the audio recording universe?
