Desmond Davies talks to Dauda Garuba on extractive industries in Nigeria and the main challenges the country faces in utilising its natural resources including Oil for economic development. Dauda Garuba is the Technical Adviser in Nigeria's Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

This is a Discussion Programme on Evidence Informed Policy in Africa recorded during the The African Evidence Informed Policy Forum event held between 6 and 7th March 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya. The forum was jointly organised by the Think Tank Initiative and the Mastercard Foundation and coordinated in partnership with the African Leadership Centre. The programme was hosted by ALC Radio's Desmond Davies and featured three participants at the conference namely: Lilian Tamale from Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE)in Uganda; Ibrahima Hathie from Initiative Prospective Agricole et Rurale (IPAR), Senegal; and Rama Salla Dieng a Doctoral Researcher and Mo-Ibrahim Scholar at School of African and Oriental Studies, London. This was the book launch event for 'A Theory of ISIS: Political Violence and the Transformation of the Global Order' that gives an original perspective on the genesis, nature, and trajectory of the Islamic State historicizing it in relation to colonialism, modernity, and globalization. The event was held at Kings College London on 13th February 2018.
