To finish out this year’s Alright Scary, we’re revisiting Scream’s less impressive little sister “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” This movie unfortunately did not age well, and while we’re always excited for late 90’s nostalgia, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s heel-length dress, Elsa’s implacable anger, and the quick clean-up of those crabs were just some of the things we couldn’t get hooked on. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a bright spot in the cast, but we completely forgot about Anne Heche and the football star and fisherman in this movie look like Pilates instructors.  (But Freddie Prinze Jr. in that tank top can haul his crabs into our tugboat any day.) This may be a summer misadventure worth forgetting but it was a fun way to wrap up the spooky season! There’s blood in the water for this week’s 60’s themed vampire beach party, pairing the monsters up as moonbathers with a mouthful. Season 2 standout and Resurrection runner-up Dahli casually strolls back into the competition, but the parent-child reunion with Astrud is short-lived this season when her bikini killer leaves a salty taste in the judges mouth. Bitter Betty is giving Elusive Elizabeth while Koco Caine can’t even with Merrie, though both are saved by the Boulets. Saint is canonized as the winner of this week’s challenge, but Dahli and Hoso were on our beach blanket bingo cards. Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens brings, let’s just say, a pizzazz to the judging panel. Season 4 of The Boulet Brothers’ spooky, filthy drag competition kicks things off with a warehouse of horrors, a workroom of shade-slinging and a floor show full of legends. Familiar faces Jade Jolie and Saint keep it congenial, but La Zavaleta and Merrie Cherry make sure Brooklyn is well represented in the boudoir, Sigourney and Betty plan to take on this competition one tit at a time, and Koco is hopefully our narrator this season. Astrud ends up as queen alien of the week, but Hoso has an eye on the prize (and a button sewn into that eye), and Formelda Hyde wears club kid shoes, so you know what that means. “Jennifer’s Body” is so much more than a 2009 version of “Species,” but it does feature one hell of a femme fatale in the form of Megan Fox. Amanda Seyfried meanwhile is a final girl with depth whose vengeful nerd rage rivals Carrie White in the final act. James Cameron’s bombastic follow up to “Alien,” equal parts action and horror movie, may make us yearn for the Nostromo a bit, but more importantly it features our favorite cat owning, flamethrower wielding space mom, Ellen Ripley. The Extended Special Edition of “Aliens” gives us even more time in Act One with Ripley and Jones before pairing her up with eye candy like Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn and Jeannette Goldstein, to say nothing of one particularly beguiling robot. We’ve got mixed feelings on Newt, lots of questions about aliens taking elevators, thoughts on the subsequent sequels and prequels in the series, and unending praise for Sigourney “Susie” Weaver in an Oscar nominated performance. While it takes a real cunning linguist to say the name of this week’s episode, the Top 5: Part 2 queens deserve snaps all around for this storytelling challenge. Ginger, now doing almost too well in the competition, is given the “too polished” note while Eureka’s triumph over trichinosis finally nabs her a win (and with that lip sync win, a total of $25k just under the wire). Ra’Jah very briefly forgets her place (and later half her look, in a genius runway), Kylie rises up by sitting and Trinity sees the writing on the wall before she even gets on stage.  We discuss who really won that lip sync, whether or not we want more cutthroat voting, why Drag Race is not Survivor, body types in the gay community, The Masked Singer, and being in the closet about having a Drag Race podcast. This week’s girl group challenge takes on an activism twist with inspirational lyrics about self-love and positivity. (Okay, this may not be that much of a twist for a Drag Race song.) The real twist comes when Mrs. Mateo shows up with not one but two lipsticks in her titty, for a melodramatic conclusion to Jan’s pitchy peaks and valleys run this season. Well, until the game within the game, but we already have our predictions for who’s gonna win that. RuPaul loves a bombshell, Zaldy brings some much-welcomed fashion expertise to the judges panel, Freddy gets fingered and Trinity bugs out on the runway–and pulls into the lead with a much-deserved second win.
