It turns out, we're still playing Far Cry 5 and Sea of Thieves (this was recorded before God of War you see), and we've been inspired by both games to talk about spectacle in a game and if it can distract from the game or hurt a game as a whole. What do you think?

Welcome to episode 21! We're old enough to drink now! And just like a 21 year old coming off of their birthday party, all we want to do is sit around and watch movies. It's too bad all the video game movies are terrible. So let's talk about why they're terrible and what we can do to make them better. You better watch out Hollywood!

Presenting, for your enjoyment, this podcast, in which the gang gets a little loopy (well, mostly Zach does) and talks about if games can be based on a true story the way that movies or other media can as well as if there are equivalent statements that seem to be instant critical bumps. Zach really wants the Ken Burn's video game though, that's not a joke...

Hooo boy this is a heavy one. In this one we mostly get into the issue of racism and how do you reconcile problematic material or problematic creators with games or other media that is good outside of that. Not a lot of jokes in it this time. Oh, but we do also talk about some other pet peeves we tend to have in our games, so that's a bit more fun.

The podcast is legal! We can vote! Go to casinos! Deal with the crushing ennui of adult responsibilities! Get a tattoo! So many things, but for right now we're just podcasting. Zach, Carlo and Christine talk Dragonball FighterZ, dating sims and in our main topic, what the world of esports will look like now that major real world organizations are getting involved. There's also a lot of laughs and good times.

Carlo is out of town and boy he did not miss much. Everybody is still working through their holiday coma and there's just not a lot of news right now, and no Carlo to keep us on track or school us on all the games we're not playing, so mostly we talk about Labo a lot, if we want it and how weird Nintendo is for the umpteenth time. Enjoy!

Happy New Year Ya'll! The mess that was 2017 is over! Now the mess that is 2018 begins and boy do we have predictions for you about what the new year holds for us gamers. Short version, 2017 was bad for everything but video games and there's no way 2018 will live up to it. Optimism! Hooray!

Spoiler: Carlo likes Nier: Automata. A lot. Like really a lot. And he wants to tell you about it. A lot. Happy Holidays and Happy 2018! Let's hope 2018 goes a little better than 2017 (my hopes are not high - Zach). In celebration of the new year and to say goodbye to the old one, this podcast we go over some of the big trends in gaming, talk about the games of the year and the things that sum up what 2017 was for games as a whole.

Hoo boy this one is a long one. We had a lot to talk about regarding all the controversy around Star Wars Battlefront though, and we wanted to really give it the time it deserves. If that's not your jam though, don't worry, we also spent a ton of time talking about a dark horse game that Zach, Carlo and Christine have been loving called Battle Chef Brigade. It's awesome.

Fair warning, this one gets a little bit dirty towards the end. We may not have been a family friendly podcast ever but this definitely cements that. Listen to us talk about Mario Odyssey, Extra Life and the beginning of the controversy surrounding Battlefront II (we recorded before things got really crazy). And some crazy video game ideas from us that nobody will ever make (but would be really fun to play).

Carlo brought us presents from Japan! What a nice guy! Everybody can always use a friend like that (cue the Randy Newman). All of us drank whiskey in celebration, talked about how excited we are to play Mario Odyssey and explored the possibility and implications of teaching video games in school. Enjoy!
