Dr. Black is a NYS licensed clinical psychologist who has offices in NYC and Westchester. She specializes in working with teens and adults with autism spectrum disorders and related conditions. She works with people individually, in dyads, and in groups, and also offers “out in the real world” sessions run by graduate students under her supervision. Dr. Black’s main area of specialty lies in helping people with social awareness and cognition, and the building of social skills. She utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach and includes various techniques, including improv exercises, in her sessions and her groups. She co-founded peer-support charity, SWAN: Scottish Women’s Autism. Network which runs learning events as well as peer-support groups and has been involved in numerous consultations and initiatives. Having been a member of the Autistic Advisory Panel to the National Autism Project 2014-17, Catriona is helping to develop its extended project, the National Autistic Task-force. Catriona helped to develop the online resource, Right Click for Women and girls, for Scottish Autism; she currently works full-time for the charity. Since 2017, she has been the national director of clinical services for College Internship Program (CIP). Prior to that she practiced clinical neuropsychology for over two decades, most recently at the NYU Child Study Center, where she was an assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine. She specialized in the diagnosis and evaluation of individuals across the lifespan with autism spectrum disorder and other types of neurodiversity. Liz has lectured and written on many topics including executive functioning, employment, relationship and intimacy, co-occurring conditions, classroom learning, co-morbid disorders, psychotherapy, college, young adulthood, and at-risk babies.
