  • Episode 7 - Assessing Autism in Adults, with Dr. Katherine Cody

    In this episode, hosts Lauren Gerber Ms. Ed., PSY. D. and Becca Lory, CAS, BCCS speak with Katherine Cody, Psy.D. Dr. Cody is a licensed clinical psychologist in full-time private practice, and maintains offices at Spectrum Services in NYC and in southern Connecticut. Dr. Cody offers psychological and neuropsychological evaluations including Adult Asperger’s Assessments. She also provides individual and family psychotherapy services, specializing in an individualized and integrated approach to treatment to meet each person’s unique needs. She offers psychotherapy services using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches integrated with social skills training, and family psychotherapy as needed, and offers particular expertise in therapy for individuals with ASD and co-occurring mental health conditions (i.e. anxiety, depression, etc.).   • Episode 6 - Autism and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, with Dr. Gil Lichtshein

    In this episode, hosts Lauren Gerber Ms. Ed., PSY. D. and Becca Lory, CAS, BCCS speak with Dr. Gil Lichtshein. Dr. Lichtshein ("Dr. Gil") is Board Certified in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He also is a TMS practitioner, one of only a handful of psychiatrists in South Florida utilizing TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) a non-pharmacological, non-invasive form of neuromodulation which uses highly focused, MRI-strength alternating magnetic pulses to target the brain in those areas where under-activity or dysfunction is linked to depression or other neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Gil discusses what TMS is and the effects it can have on patients on the spectrum, other options for treating symptoms that come with an autism diagnosis, and the care doctors should take in prescribing medications to patients with sensitive systems.
