Back in 2018 we did a live remote broadcast from the MALBA car show in WhitestoneQueens, with this being the second hour. The show was a hit even due to the rain, and some special guests like Gary the Local Brush, Auto Crimes Cliff, and the host, Billy Velvet joined us in our safe bunker and gave us some great commentary and history about this fantastic show.  

The boys were all set for a rousing hour of conversation with one of their favorite P.R. and Advertising  men, Marty Schorr, formerly of Motion Performance, when technical difficulties struck. Having Billy G. in the meeting kept the show alive, and Marty was eventually able to join in and talk about his upcoming "Team Zora" Motorsports Corvette reunion to be held in Italy next year.  A caller tells a story of how he regularly sees an original Motion BelAir in one of our local towns and naturally we want to know more about it. This show starts out with a THUD when Chris can't get a signal that'll allow him to sign on, so Ray ad-libs and explains how to diagnose a wimpy feeling four-wheel disc brake installation. Billy Velvet calls in to talk about the upcoming MALBA car show and gives us all a good rundown of the history involved. Chris shows off his "rags for all purposes" and Ray diverts to talking about some really good local cruise night spots. The show closes out with the ins and outs of what makes for successful car show judging practices. The boys do a little follow up on old topics when Ray reports on the successful '69 Road Runner repair, then segues into the ongoing disc brake conversion on the 66 Mustang shop project. Master cylinder selection is a hot topic, as is using non-stock parts in a repair or restoration. Chris poses a question about having a used car looked at pre-purchase and Ray offers quite a few reasons why this is a good idea. Ray ran into an interesting problem when  bleeding the brakes on a new disc brake install on a Mustang, and brought in the specialtymeasurement gauge he used to verify and solve the "no pedal" issue. It was learned that tearing down the top end of an Olds 455 is easier said than done, or Ray is just getting old.Check our social media feed to see the pictures. The boys start the show with a tribute to a lost friend & show participant "Chassis John," then Chris talks about his "poor Tracker seat belt."  Ray recounts how he tested and diagnosed a bad horn relay, which leads into car battery replacement intervals. A caller offers up some advice to Chris on how to best eliminate that annoying mouse odor in his car. Ray talks about meeting a cool guy with a cooler car at the Corvette Society Club pizza event. Ray thought it was a Rambler, but Rick's car turned out to be a Studebaker Daytona with a 383 Stroker under the hood that has a minor cooling system error and a super stiff clutch. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.com joins the boys and talks about the recent Hagerty article that Ray had some input on concerning Gen Z drivers. The carpet conundrum in Chris' Tracker is fixed, only to be eclipsed by a rodent infestation. Our good friend Kilowatt Kevin gets the Endura nose on his 68 GTO aligned by "the old school master", Steve, at Celebrity Chase Collision, then helps Ray re-install the gas tank in the 70 442 at the shop. The transmission mount for that car proves to be a problem when the parts house sends the wrong one, stalling forward progress. Ray uses a Hybrid truck to run some shop errands and becomes a convert, who would've ever believed that... check our social media feed to see the pictures. Chris shares his victorious repair of a random engine misfire on the families Mazda CX-9.  Ray dives right into his recent experiments with the ultrasonic cleaner to de-carbon some of his guns as well as its use in carburetor rebuilding work. Various tricks and tips are shared for using this type of cleaning method. After Ray talks about an inspection he did on a questionable Porsche 911 the talkturns to soldering a gas tank crack. A concerned caller warns of all the badness that can happen by doing this job , and the boys don't disagree. Chris is still having fuel injector issues with his CX9 which leads to a rousing discussion about fuel additives. We bring back an old friend who's made her mark on the automotive journalism world when Elana Scherr, senior Features editor of Car & Driver magazine shares the hour this week. We talk about her eclectic car projects; the Jensen, Opel & Trans Am, as well as her Car & Driver duties. Imperial vs metric measurement woes come up when Elana talks about a specific sewing class she recently took. Ray reports on the recent 442 project at the shop, and finding some very old MMR Cassette tapes of is first show...check the social media feed to see the pictures!

Ray & Chris reminisce back 12 years to their 10th show anniversary party that was held at a junkyard (where else?). Good friends and listeners Debbie & Rusty came down with a vintage racing go-kart, and this week Ray attended a celebration of Rusty's life where he was shot from a cannon and 4 rockets! Chris posits that car guys are a superstitious bunch, then admits that he's better at sewing than welding. A dealership software hack & Mazda belts round out the show. 

This week the guys delve into the dark science of classic automotive restoration strategies. Between their own projects and the ones their friends are involved with, there's plenty of fodder for this mill too. Ray reports a good experience after using Rislone fuel treatment to resolve a P0420 Cat code in a family car, then explains the parts he needs to complete the A/C installation in his GTO. Chris takes us home with a neat repair on his Tracker exhaust system.    

Ray is transfixed by a complex rearview mirror repair, then spends time at the "Rolling Joint" food truck car cruise. Replacing a blown shock with a good used one solved the problem of the Fiat sitting too low in the rear, and Chris knows why a pair of 30-year-old sneakers has a cut mark in them. Falling asleep while doing a podcast, as well as the many options available for disc brake conversion hardware wrap up this hour of fun.  

Chris ruminated over his paint-soaked Tracker carpet issue & Ray mused over Fiat's selection of clutch cable adjusting hardware. Then, joined by Lake Speed Jr. the show got wings and took off into the unchartered territories of oil technology. Terms like zinc, calcium, phosphorous and viscosity were tossed around like projectiles at a beer pong party. Lake covered all the hard topics and passed on some excellent recommendations we can all use.   

We brought in some heavy hitters to compliment our EV knowledge this weekwith MatcoMan Brian and Carl Anthony from Automoblog. We covered waning EV sales, the charging anxiety many people are experiencing, and the new "electrici-trees" NYC is workingon implementing to help the charging issue. Many thoughts were thrown out there, but notall of them were fully explored....stay tuned for more to come.

Kicking off the "new year" (post Mother's Day) portion of the show, Ray describes to Chris how he cleaned his balls and will soon be polishing them, and of course he was referring to his pool table equipment. The use of Cataclean gets a thumbs up, but a CEL in the Impala gets a head scratch from even the experts. Chris describes with great detail how an "Italian Tune-Up" is performed, followed by an example of how to use a paint thickness gauge. Ray's visit to a mega-car facility raises some questions. 

Following a long tradition of doing a "best-of" show where we feature bits that highlight the callers, this is the 2024 edition. Featuring the likes of "Billy Velvet", the "ROMEO Club", and the Hijinx found on MatcoMan Brian's tool truck, we deep dive into the past year and find reflective thoughts from men like Dave Hayes and Carl Anthony, but the capper is Bob from RVC bestowing the MotorMouth Person of the Year on Tom from Massapequa. Not even Ray's "Crack cream" story can beat that show stopper.   

On our second fundraising hour we talk about how guest co-host MatcoMan Brian visits Harbor Freight to collect owed money. A current Mustang project and Ray's memories of riding in a first Gen 'Stang filled with teenage girls comes up. Work on making a dual quad RAM Air intake pan gets kicked around, as does making a replica of the original Bat Phone. 

On our first fundraising hour we talk about how to check a serpentine belt, what goes into buying a used car, and how much debris can actually accumulate between vehicle cleanings. Ray's home-repaired garage stereo system gets a late nod to the do-it-yourself mantra this show professes weekly.
