  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 34

    12/08/2016 Duração: 52min

Ups and downs as expectations are missed and met, on another hilarious episode of the Trusty Sidekick podcast, recorded at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles! Suicide Squad kicks off the show and for once in a long time, Jay and Bobby are in complete agreement. Sadly for David Ayer, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and company, that is not a good thing. Tyler Hoechlin is on set as Superman and he doesn't look nearly as bad as the poor attempt at the first Melissa Benoist action figure. Thank goodness we like this show! Echo Kellum is ready to be terrific on Arrow and Grant Gustin teases some Back To The Future elements to this year's Flash and we speculate just how big the universe of speedsters will become. Legends of Tomorrow looks only better with the addition of Sarah Gray and Gotham is getting some Suicide Squad members, pre-Squad affiliation, plus we break down some of the wild potential of Morena Baccarin's tease for the new season. Luke Cage crashes through the Marvel side of things like the Kool-Aid

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 33 - Part 2

    27/07/2016 Duração: 34min

In part 2 of episode 33, we are back at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles to give you all the great info and laugh about what came out of the DC side of this years San Diego Comic-Con! Arrow is up first and along with a new trailer, we talk about the additions of Rick Gonzalez, and better roles for Madison McLaughlin and Echo Kellum. Season 3 of the Flash looks to be the best of the bunch and we cover the trailer, Keiynan Lonsdale's new look, and some controversy surrounding Grant Gustin, unrelated to Flashpoint. Legends Of Tomorrow looks to only be better with the addition of not only the Legion Of Doom, but the Justice Society, plus we talk about how Katie Cassidy will be everywhere. The crazy train on Gotham only gets weirder with some new quotes from Ben Mckenzie, and we're still concerned about Powerless. Trailers for Wonder Woman, Justice League and Suicide Squad round out the visual treats for DC at Comic-Con and we agree on at least 2 of them (we're looking at you, Zach Snyder.) Lastly, some hot news on

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 33 - Part 1

    27/07/2016 Duração: 58min

It's the first of a 2-part, episode 33 run down of everything that was revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con and a whole lot more as the Trusty Sidekicks bring this one to you straight from Meltdown Comics! Marvel kicks off the big news as Oscar winner Brie Larson joins the fold, we know the roles being played by Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira in Black Panther and the latest Dr. Strange trailer is upon us! Kurt Russell's full role in Guardians Of The Galaxy has been revealed and we give you the lowdown on the footage shown from that and Spider-Man: Homecoming, including info on who Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier and Jacob Batalon are playing. We go deep into discussing Thor: Ragnarok and talk about the future of the Hulk in the MU. Gambit is still coming and still has Channing Tatum and Doug Liman attached and we let you know what we think of a solo Black Widow movie. On the TV side of things, Gabriel Luna is coming to Agents Of Shield and we love the role he's playing, but will it tran

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 32

    11/07/2016 Duração: 41min

Major deals, major injuries and major laughs on episode 32 of The Trusty Sidekick Podcast! CW is in high gear, locking down a major deal with Netflix, and there's huge news regarding John Barrowman's Merlin character in the Arrowverse. James Bamford is directing more Arrow, Stephen Amell's nemesis from the WWE is coming on board, Echo Kellum's role is being expanded, and we have a lot to say about all of it. The Flash is going to get more Kevin Smith and we talk about other shows across on the CW he wants in on. We also cover other DC film and TV, as we laugh about who the Ben Affleck Batman reminds us of from the Marvel Universe, discuss the 3 women up for the lead in the Flash movie and hope Vanessa Hudgens is a Krysten Ritter like surprise in Powerless. Over at Marvel, Spider-Man keeps adding cool actors, is a year away from release and other than Tom Holland and Michael Keaton, every new actor is a mystery, Thor: Ragnarok is possibly going to save the trilogy, we get into the possibility of Agents Of Shie

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 31

    28/06/2016 Duração: 59min

With a stretched off week, there's a ton of great news out in both the Marvel and DC world, and we cover it all in Episode 31! DC info is up first as we've gotten the premiere dates for the CW season premieres and although Flash comes back first, Supergirl news takes center stage with their casting of both Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and a role for former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter as well. Legends Of Tomorrow keeps announcing Justice Society heroes that are going to appear in season 2, and we have info on Tobias Harris role as the big bad in Arrow's fifth season, as well as some new sidekicks that are joining Ollie. We have Gotham's premiere date as well and we cover the arrival of Jamie Chung as well as the very odd possible reasons and explanations behind time jumping a single character with the recasting of Poison Ivy with a much older actor. There's some great tidbits in the DC movie universe with Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman coming, but the heat is on Zach Snyder's Justice League movie and we discuss h

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 30

    15/06/2016 Duração: 47min

We celebrate episode number 30 with one of the funniest we've had yet! Still no new episodes or movies from our favorites, but we still get into DC news, starting with changes to Justice League that indicate Zack Snyder's future with the DCEU. Wonder Woman has some fresh pics and we talk about the potential power of what we've seen. Gotham is aging and the proof is in the new characters coming to the show along with an older Poison Ivy and is it possible Tom Welling is joining one of the CW powerhouses? Wolverine news dominates the Marvel world and we have concerns over storyline and how many times they're going to flip-flop Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Kevin Smith has interest in a Netflix project that's coming up - is it the same project Norman Reedus has an interest in? We discuss that, along with Brian Michael Bendis (Jessica Jones, Powers) getting another greenlight at HBO and Scott Derrickson and James Gunn give us hints about who might be coming to ComiCon. We close it out with in on Sharon Stone

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 29

    08/06/2016 Duração: 45min

There's plenty to cover in both live-action worlds without new shows or movies from Marvel or DC on another hilarious episode - Bobby and Jay are back together, directly from the Laugh Factory Chicago! We open with a revisit to the Apocalypse/Mystique billboard controversy and wonder what Jennifer Lawrence thinks of it. Staying on the Marvel side of things, Simon Kinberg has some thoughts about the Fantastic Four failure, Sebastian Stan gives some info on where you'll see him next, Brie Larson (Room,) Niki Caro (Whale Rider) and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) may all be in on Captain Marvel and we wonder if Namor may finally get a live-action opportunity. Also, is Thor in Guardians Of The Galaxy? What say you, James Gunn? On DC's side of the street, there's some news on Justice League Dark that isn't what we expected, and tons of Aquaman info from director James Wan. New Flash (the movie) director Rick Famuyiwa is already creating a little controversy (besides the pronounciation of his name,) we discuss our fee

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 28

    01/06/2016 Duração: 58min

Apocalypse is here, it's Bobby's birthday, and this season's DC shows reach their finales, all on episode 28! We kick it off with a review of Marvel's Fox licensed (that's a mouthful) X-Men: Apocalypse and as usual, we come to different conclusions about the movie. From there, we jump into Gotham's season finale and profess how well this show has come together, with great performances from Camren Bicondova to David Mazouz to the return of Jada Pinkett Smith, it is on fire! We agree that Flash is the best of the current superhero TV bunch right now. Grant Gustin has really proven himself and we really like the growing relationship between Barry and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale,) as well as the potential for Flashpoint - plus, John Wesley Shipp has a future in the universe! We struggle with the season finale of Arrow but have faith in the team of Guggenheim, Berlanti and Mericle for a better season 5. We'll miss Neal McDonough but Stephen Amell is so good as Ollie that we're in for another year. We close it out with

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 27

    24/05/2016 Duração: 01h03min

The energy is high and the season finales have begun on a fiery episode 27! We start with pre-release jitters about X-Men: Apocalypse and some news on the futures of Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender with the series. Major casting rumors and news on the Black Panther and Spiderman: Homecoming front along with 3 new series announcements for Netflix from Marvel. Agents Of Shield is our first season finale and we applaud the crushing performances from Brett Dalton and Chloe Bennet, while feeling a little remiss over the loss of Luke Mitchell from the series. On the DC side, Jay is full-on #TeamGotham and it is on point right now, buoyed by the incredible performances from BD Wong, Camren Bicondova and David Mazouz. Plus, the return of Jada Pinkett Smith and the emergence of the Court Of Owls! Bobby agrees with Jay that Grant Gustin is the only Flash that matters as he is truly owning the role. He's back and so is Katie Cassidy as the Black Siren this time, which makes both of us happy, but w

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 26

    16/05/2016 Duração: 01h05min

Bobby finally snaps all the way off in a wild episode 26! Captain America is still going strong and Marvel's continued success has brought in some big names for Black Panther. Agents Of Shield is on fire as Adrian Pasdar returns and we again wonder why Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) sticks around, but we'd also stick around for Chloe Bennet. Camren Bicondova, James Frain and BD Wong again shine on Gotham as Azrael wreaks havoc and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) resurfaces in a big way! On a Kevin Smith-directed Flash, Barry is stuck in the speed force while Iris, Cisco, Wells, Joe and his dad (Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L Martin and Jon Wesley Shipp,) try to bring him back. On Arrow, things start to get out of hand with an underground city/nuclear protection bunker, the return of both Alexander Calvert as Anarky and Tom Amandes as Calculator/Felicity's dad causing various trouble and a very, very high body count. Lastly, on Legends Of Tomorrow, the show goes mcguffin crazy and we get elevated pe

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 25

    09/05/2016 Duração: 01h01min

Milestone comics always get special variants so for our 25th episode, Jay and Bobby recorded live and broadcast on Facebook (findable on Youtube as well - link below.) We start with our recap of Captain America: Civil War and think Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman & Tom Holland are excellent additions to the expanded universe. We also question whether Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) is the best bad guy of all time. Despite Agents Of Shield not tying tightly into Civil War, it still crushes and mostly that is the work of Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet and Henry Simmons. Gotham is really hitting it's stride and James Frain is blowing up as Azrael. We finally see the pieces coming together for Bruce (David Mazouz) and Jay is a full-on fan now! The Teddy Sears/Tony Todd combo continues to dominate on Flash, but we really loved seeing Cavanaugh, Shipp and Martin all on screen together, plus, Iris and Barry have a moment and we see the Kid Flash and Jesse Quick origin! On Arrow, we give major props to baby Sara for living thr

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 24

    02/05/2016 Duração: 01h05min

Once again recording in the same room, it's a hilarious episode 24 from Jay and Bobby on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network! We kick it off with some tough news for some DC movies that are already in the works, thanks to the difficult go Batman V Superman has had at the box office, but we are definitely excited for a newly announced property they've got coming. What they also have is a terrific television universe as we cover a normal (for now) Flash and continue to praise the work of Teddy Sears, as well as Danielle Panabaker doing doubler duty this week, plus the return of Jesse (Violett Beane.) Arrow leaves both of us in tears as Paul Blackthorne just crushes everything, as well as a moving return of Katrina Law (Nyssa al Ghul,) and Diggle (David Ramsey) taking some things into his own hands. We also campaign for any movie version of Arrow to use Stephen Amell, who's made the character his. The ever-improving Legends Of Tomorrow turns out one of their best episodes yet as we meet Vandal Savage's daughter, C

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 23

    26/04/2016 Duração: 01h05s

Season finales, extra-long expositions and Bobby loses it at the end in an explosive episode 23! We kick it off on the DC side with fantastic lady day on Gotham as Barbara (Erin Richards) steps up big for Jim, we get the return of The Lady (Michelle Gomez) and Karen Jennings, a new character played by Julia Taylor Ross, all take center stage. We run down an up and down season finale of Supergirl and we question the use of extended dialogue in the midst of a hero "running out of time," as well as our thoughts on whether the show should get a second season. On Legends Of Tomorrow we almost get caught in a time paradox, but we are always happy to get two Caity Lotz's on the same episode! We get some more background on the origins of Rip (Arthur Darvill) and the Pilgrim (Faye Kingslee) almost kills everybody! Zoom (Teddy Sears) returns to The Flash, and we again question exposition as well as a trade that didn't need to happen that leaves Barry powerless. On the Marvel side, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues it's

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 22

    19/04/2016 Duração: 01h02min

The Doctor Strange trailer is out and we gush over how strong Marvel's movie arm is right now with the casting wins in this movie (Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen.) Agents Of Shield continues to push us towards Civil War, and we discuss Gideon's turn from powerful to powerless as family secrets come back to haunt him and his daughter (Bethany Joy Lenz.) We fill you in on some powerful casting news for Spiderman (Homecoming?! *gags*,) Thor and Iron Fist, as well as some cool inside info on Captain America. On the DC side, Gotham is on fire right now as performances from Cory Michael Smith (Edward Nygma,) Robin Lord Taylor (Penguin) and Ben Mackenzie (Jim Gordon) have been incredible along with a storyline that has finally lured Jay in. We're struggling with the current Supergirl plot, even though we think Melissa Benoist has been better every week and the work of Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood make us keep coming back to the show. We

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 21

    12/04/2016 Duração: 53min

Supervillains take over the show on a celebrity filled Episode 21! Jay gets a chance to hang with both Stephen Rider (Blake Tower - Daredevil) and the heir to the demon herself, Katrina Law (Nyssa al-Ghul!) Future podcast guest? You'll have to keep listening! DC has a new Suicide Squad trailer and we get more Jay Hernandez (El Diablo) as well as some well-placed humor, lots of Batman and way more Margot Robbie. We cover Arrow and the death of a cast original, again adoring the work of James Bamford. Darhk (Neal McDonough) is still at the core of this season and Merlyn (John Barrowman) is willing to take on both Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) and his own daughter (Willa Holland) to do Darhk's bidding in an episode that leaves us both in tears. On Legends Of Tomorrow, kids abound as we maintain a love for the storytelling, if not for the set pieces. We're cool with the budget going into the CGI though, as we'd rather watch Franz Drameh's Firestorm and Ciara Renee's Hawkgirl fly around and set stuff on fire way mo

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 20

    05/04/2016 Duração: 01h01min

Thanks to no new Supergirl or Gotham this week, we had a little more time to get you this very silly episode 20! We cover the rest of Daredevil and can't get over the performances of Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and the grounded relatability of the show. Agents Of Shield is making a hard charge towards setting up Civil War and we see lines beginning to be drawn. We recognize the work being put into developing the villains on Gotham and what it takes to make Jim Gordon okay with taking help from a giant bat in the future. The Arrowverse has us loving the Supergirl/Flash team up, being blown away by the Tom Cavanaugh and Grant Gustin act-off in Flash, still super-sad and wondering about the longevity of Felicity on Arrow, while being excited about the emergence of Chicago's Echo Kellum as Curtis (Mr Terrific,) and hyped up over the return of Mick Rory (Dominc Purcell) and concerned for Ray and Kendra on Legends Of Tomorrow. Plus cool news from Marvel and DC. Just in time and always free, it's your Trusty Sid

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 19

    28/03/2016 Duração: 01h03min

Batman V Superman has arrived and we have our thoughts on that and more in this week's epsiode 19! As promised, we give our complete, non-biased (at least Bobby is) review of Dawn Of Justice, with praise for Ben Affleck, some heavy criticism of Zack Snyder, and a plot device that we both found to be totally absurd. In Gotham, Bobby has almost pulled Jay on board and Paul Reubens is a big help. We find proof of how old Penguin will be when Batman finally hits the scene (too old) and we get our first of a couple of shows about mushrooms and drugs in general, thanks to Poison Ivy. We're both confident of Supergirl getting a second season and think Melissa Benoist, and the rest of the team deserve it. We love David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and we see it improving. Flash gets another speedster in the mix as Allison Paige shows up as Trajectory and Bobby questions whether anyone who has ever written a show has actually done drugs in the second drug-related show of the week. Side stories involving our buddy Ton

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 18

    22/03/2016 Duração: 01h04min

With both of us stuck at airports like Tom Hanks in Terminal, we're getting this out a little late, but episode 18 is a doozy! There's a new Age Of Apocalypse trailer and we wish we were more excited for this movie...alas, Batman v Superman is getting some good early reviews and Jay might be coming around on it! On the Marvel side of the street, season 2 of Daredevil is out! We break down the first four episodes even though we've seen the whole thing and talk about how incredible everyone from Jon Bernthal to Deborah Ann Woll to stunt coordinator Philip J Silvera. Agents of Shield continues it's killer storyline and we are digging the "Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) as Hive" storyline. Back over on the DC side, Supergirl gets turnt on that red kryptonite and becomes Hancock and we continue our hype of David Harewood as Martian Manhunter. Jay is all in on Gotham now, Paul Reubens is coming and has there been an Azrael sighting? We've finally arrived at our destinations, it's the Trusty Sidekicks on the Laugh Factor

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 17

    13/03/2016 Duração: 59min

Bobby barely survives and Jay comes around on Gotham in an outstanding Episode 17! We open with a breakdown of the new Captain America and our first glimpse at Tom Holland's Spiderman, as well as how his involvement with Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr) will carry over into his solo film. Agents Of Shield's return is an appropriate follow up and we enjoy how Skye (Chloe Bennet) is building up her team and how Brett Dalton (Grant/Hive) is still crushing everything on screen. On the DC side, Jay may have finally turned the corner on getting into Gotham thanks to a killer Mr Freeze storyline and agrees that BD Wong and Robin Lord Taylor are super strong on the show. Despite our issues with Legends Of Tomorrow, we still find the show crazy entertaining. We break down the teams trip to 1958 and all the racial, gender, and sexual orientation problems that come with it. Caity Lotz is still our favorite ninja and we enjoy trying to recreate Franz Drameh's (slightly) overdone, east coast accent. We close it out with some

  • The Trusty Sidekick - Episode 16

    08/03/2016 Duração: 01h08min

Jay and Bobby are back with another hilarious episode! This week, Gotham returns, we learn how to pronounce "Fries," applaud the work of Robin Lord Taylor and also that Jay might finally be enjoying this show! Family and forgiveness is a huge part of our Supergirl breakdown and we cover the introduction of Brainiac 8 (aka Indigo,) while Bobby suggests an interesting storyline for the writers. Both that and Legends are getting better with every episode and we again have praise for Caity Lotz as White Canary, the improvement of Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter and the overall fun of the show. Jay has finally got on board with Agent Carter, just in time for the season finale. We both decide we hope it's not the series finale as we think the work of Fazekas & Butters as storytellers is outstanding and everyone from Hayley Atwell to Matt Braunger make the show so fun. Closing it out, we knock out some big news for Batman V Superman regarding Jena Malone, Katie Aselton joining a new Marvel show and more. Fresh from
