Anyway, we discuss this version of Godot's failings, check in on recent Ethan updates, debate the existence of the fourth Before film, and much more! Welcome to 2021! Bright things are on the horizon, I think? This could be a curse. Anyway, here's our episode on RZA's new film CUT THROAT CITY, in which Ethan plays a corrupt city councilman who loves getting drunk and giving soliloquies to his wife's grave. It's a film that falls apart pretty fast, sadly. But we get to talk about Alita Battle Angel again, so for that we are grateful. Keep Hawke-ing the skies, and we'll see you soon!

It's time to sing about the goodness of the Lord! Ethan's television miniseries THE GOOD LORD BIRD is finally here! Ethan gets to freak it handily as famed abolitionist maniac John Brown in the miniseries he co-created and wrote for! This in many ways is Ethan Hawke's blank check, and the premiere is as promising as his best works. Even Boyhood shows up! From Boyhood! We'll check back in when the series wraps up next month. Zap! We're back! Did you miss us and Ethan? He's been keeping busy during the pandemic and so have we. But not with this podcast, clearly. Anyway, we're here to discuss Ethan's latest film TESLA, in which he plays virgin king Nikola Tesla. Death rays! Electricity! Desi from Girls! TESLA has it all, even if it's not super great! All of Hawke Cast has led to this! My original plan was to do one at the end of each season, but that was a long time ago. We have yet to record Sunset and Midnight as of this release, but I wanted to have something special for our THIRD ANNIVERSARY, so here is BEFORE SUNRISE with returning guest Ali Russo. We'll do Sunset and Midnight um... soon? Is this a perfect movie? Basically. Was this the first time I've watched it when I am older than Jesse and Celine? I don't wanna talk about it! Thar she blows! D and Zack return to discuss literary sensation and "fine" German-Canadian miniseries MOBY DICK starring William Hurt as Ahab and Ethan Hawke as Starbuck, not Ishmael. It is truly a minute long, but it's always fun to talk Purge! Returning guests Michael and Dan of NAMELESS CULTS are ready to talk about James Sandin, a character from a film neither of them have actually seen! Michael loves Anarchy and Election Year though! Welcome to one of our last regular episodes! Shannon returns to discuss an extremely sad film called ADOPT A HIGHWAY, which is now available on digital! It's 78 minutes long and Ethan is great in it - what else is new? It's about how America fails us - what else is new?? We will be tackling the Before Trilogy very, very soon. Today's episode is about a Hawke movie that, as of the time we are releasing this episode, still does not have an official US release date! We saw this early at the Boston Independent Film Festival's Fall Focus, like how last year we saw First Reformed early. Ain't that neat? Anyway, the film is THE TRUTH directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. It stars Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, and Ethan Hawke as the silly American husband! It's like... it's a fine enough movie! Spoilers abound, but if you wanna hang out with these lovely actors for 100 minutes you could do worse! No idea when it actually comes out! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

Dan joins us for his very first Hawke to discuss STATEN ISLAND, a film where Vinny D'onofrio plays a silly mobster who essentially becomes the Lorax. The guy who made The Purge directed it? There's an extended homage to Gattaca? Who knows what's going on here, but it's pretty entertaining! Keep Hawke-ing the skies!

JOE THE KING is about a boy whose life is so terrible not even Ethan can help him! But can Hawke Cast? Nope! D Arboleda joins for their first episode to discuss the film, Ethan's little outfits, Kyle's play about the Mara sisters, John Leguizamo's shocking past, Shakira in Zootopia, Kate Berlant character names, and more! Giddy up! It's time for a rootin' tootin' Western with ol' Ethan Hawke! That's right, we're taking on THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (2016), Antoine Fuqua's remake that you definitely saw posters for, but didn't see. It's our last western film with Hawke for now, until he inevitability hops on the saddle again probably by the end of 2020. With our returning guest, the Frantastic Fran Hoepfner, we talk hating Chris Pratt, when actors make choices, sweating, parallels to A Bug's Life, and roommates. Enjoy and keep Hawke-ing the skies!

Batter up! Just in time for the World Series (I think? Isn't it usually around now?) we have a baseball movie with Ethan in a terrifying paternal role! Our first guest from our second episode about DEAD POETS SOCIETY, LAYLA MUCHNIK finally returns to Hawke Cast to talk about THE PHENOM, a movie you probably haven't heard of. But it's good and Ethan's great in it! It's on Netflix please watch it! We chat about learning to like sports, abusive fathers, Ethan's character's tattoos, bad Netflix movies, and The Good Wife's casting choices. It's freewheelin episode, easy as a Sunday drive where your alcoholic father is screaming at you about how all drugs should be legal. Actually that sounds awful. This episode is much nicer. Hope you're not eating while you listen to this one! First-time guest Roland Watt and returning guest Todd Stark join us to discuss this curious Linklater film from 2006, FAST FOOD NATION! Based on the non-fiction book about the dark side of the fast food industry, this film has a confused tone but some great performances. It's somehow Roland's first Ethan Hawke movie ever!
