Hollywood Already Did It

The next chapter in the Scream franchise is here!  Does it hold up the films before it?  What is left to satirize in horror? We answer all these questions and more as we discuss the brutal slasher film and why it is still relevant today.

Michael B Jordan's directorial debut comes with the third installment in the Creed franchise, or ninth in the Rocky franchise.  Blake and Terrence discuss the many things that work and set this chapter apart from others.  From its anime influence, to its relatable villain in Jonathan Majors and why this franchise has been connecting to audiences since 1976.  Leave a review and subscribe!

Terrence and Blake close out 2022 with Avatar The Way of the Water.  After thirteen years James Cameron's sequel to Avatar is upon us!  We dig into what the like about the movie, what isn't working, the incredibly impressive tech and much more! 

Blake and Terrence discuss the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the incredible Black Panther film.  They discuss that while there is much grief and loss surrounding this movie, the film handles grieving, moving forward and the many additions to the MCU very well.  The movie carries a lot of weight and manages to do a lot of things differently than other movies in the MCU and super hero genre.  Every character shines and the world is beautiful to watch.

Blake and Terrence dive into the newest offering from the DCEU, Black Adam!  While there is a lot to enjoy, some parts feel copy and pasted from other films, and the movie never fully explores the themes and ideas it posits that would make it stand out against other anti-hero and super hero movies.  But despite that is an overall fun and excited return to DC and introduces a ton of characters we are hoping to see more of down the road.

Blake and Terrence discuss the final installation in David Gordon Green's Halloween films, Halloween Ends.  While there are a lot of things that movie that don't work as well as we would like, there are many moments that are very cool.  We discuss the ideas that could've worked better had the themes and story lines been fleshed out more, and that the movie ultimately can't decide if its a traditional slasher, and elevated horror, or a horror drama.  

Blake and Terrence are joined by Matt Konopka (Killer Horrocast) to talk about Hulu's new movie Prey!  Why Predator was able to launch the franchise, what other sequels in the past got wrong about Predator and what Prey does right, along with the advantage that a streaming release may have had for the movie; though how much we all would have liked to see it in theaters.

Thor Love and Thunder has finally reached theaters to mixed reviews.  Blake and Terrence continue to explore why we are remaking, or creating sequels to everything and what new ideas are added, so join as they dive into the things that worked for them in the movie, and the new themes and ideas it brought to the MCU and the character of Thor.
