    The mid-term elections for the year 2010 are arguably the most critical of this young century. The age of Obama has produced circumstances and unintended consequences that none of us could have foreseen. In this upcoming election, every vote counts in a way and manner that has perhaps never occurred before. At stake is the direction of a nation in which the pundits, 24 hour news cycle, talk radio, internet blogs, special interest groups and the established political parties have failed to act in the best interest of the public good. Sitting out this election by not voting is not the best way to make your voice and our community voices heard. We'll talk about early voting, absentee voting, voting on election day and what are the individual responsibilities of American Citizens relative to voting in a free, democratic, representative democracy.

    The 24 hour news cycle has made it more difficult for the public to determine what is an accurate reporting of the news as opposed to self interested, biased opinions that serve the political and social views of differing so called news organizations. Can 24 hour cable news be trusted? Are network news and traditional print media like the Washington Post & New York Times our last hope? How has the online media--blogs, internet web pages, Facebook, Twitter--influenced how we receive our news? What is the responsibility of the public relative to screening news to determine what is fact as opposed to opinion?
