In our 30-est podcast yet we get to speak to two guys who were in on the ground floor of the life changing institution that is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Both Jim Lawson and Steve Lavigne worked for Mirage Studios in the very early days when the TMNT were not yet a household name. We get to talk about those early days a Mirage, the in house antics that went on while working, and the lasting impact that these Turtle Ninjas had on these guys lives.  Also we get to hear some of the music that provided the soundtrack to those formative days when the boys were creating the masterworks of the TMNT comics’ era. Welcome back to Cosmic Lion Radio!! This week we sit down with Comic Book artist and writer  Sophie Campbell.  She is the creator of The Abandoned, Mountain Girl, Shadoweyes, Wet Moon, Water Baby and recently has leant her art to IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was a pleasure to talk with Sophie about her life and what makes her write the “slice of life” pieces that she does.   We also were able to nerd out pretty hard on Turtles, which is something we have both been huge fans of since the beginning.   This week, in our most ginchy episode yet, we sit down with comic creator and all around awesome guy Mike Allred (Madman, Red Rocket 7, X-Statix, FF, Silver Surfer).  We get to talk about his early influences and family, we’ll hear about music’s impact on his life, and about how one “Madman” changed his life forever.  Also in this episode we get to hear songs from Mike's band The Gear.   This week we sit down with our "Comedy Historian" Tanichee Cain.  She walks us though Comedy’s humble beginnings in Vaudeville and takes us on a brief journey through The Borscht Belt and the Chitlin’ Circuit, through the revolutionary 60’s and 70’s and then shows us where Comedy is going today.  We talk about censorship and the comedian who was arrested for saying a word (actually two 4 letter words and a preposition).  In this journey through comedy we get to hear from some of the greatest comedians of all time, from Jack Benny to Steve Martin and all the way up to John Mulaney.  So sit back and enjoy the first part of our expose on the History of Comedy.  Tanichee will be returning for a regular Comedy episode on the 6’s.  Cosmic Lion Comedy on the 6’s. **Recorded before Cosby scandal**  

  This week we sit down with Speech, the lead singer and songwriter for Arrested Development.Speech has been one of my favorite artists for a long time and this is a true honor to interview him.We talk about his roots and what makes the music what it is.We’ll listen to some of his music, we’ll find out what makes a Speech song and then what makes Speech sing. Burlington Vt and ¼ of the Comedy gold that is Touchpants.  We talk about all manner of things including the Touchpants show on New Years at the legendary Iridium Jazz Club in NYC and the business side of what makes New Years a great night for a club.  Then we talk with David Gans, musician and host of the nationally syndicated radio show “The Grateful Dead Hour.” We get to hear an amazing story about his experience broadcasting the 1990 Grateful Dead NYE show and hear about some special guests that helped him out that night.  Some really amazing stories all woven around amazing musical moments from years past, all-occurring on New Years.  So enjoy and Happy New Year! This week we are honored to present the Gonzoest podcast ever.  We welcome Wayne Ewing from Hunter Thompson Films to the show.  Wayne is an Emmy nominated filmmaker, a roving reporter, and was, at one time, Hunter Thompson's Road Manager.  Wayne has also made 4 films about the great Doctor of Journalism, “Breakfast With Hunter,” “When I Die,” “Free Lisl,” and “Animals, Whores & Dialouge.”  Wayne talks about his early film work and he tells of that fateful night at San Francisco’s O’Farrell Theatre where he met Hunter Thompson who was the night manager at the time.  This episode was a real honor to do, it was great to talk to some one who looked to Hunter as a Hero, as I do, and was able to meet him and document his incredible life.  So please listen in and be sure to check Wayne’s Work out by clicking the Bold words above!  All that and more on this weeks Enhanced Podcast!!

Welcome back folks!  This week is really amazing!! We spent some time at the "Worlds Largest Record Store" in St. Petersburg Florida, Bananas Music!!!  We met with the owner Doug who showed us around the store and took me to the warhouses warehouse! In this 'vault' we found some very special 78's and we found the true meaning of record "Albums." Spattered with a few historical picks by me this weeks podcast is really special.  All tracks in the podcast were recorded from their original vinyl presings.  So turn the lights down, put on your teashades, and chill out with this weeks "All Vinyl Edition!"

This week we sit down with my hero and favorite comic artist, Jim Mahfood (Clerks, Grrl Scouts, Los Angeles Ink Stains, Marijuana Man).  We talk about his origins, his beliefs and the gonzo vein that runs throughout his work.  We talk about music and comics, what it is to be "underground" and what the future holds for this intrepid purveyor of "Visual Funk."
