Last December we held an event called DIGIKAL WE DIGIKAL where DEADLY DRAGON was joined by the great Digital English and SCREECHY DAN, DEVON CLARKE, CARL MEEKS, KNIGHT RIDER all performed. As the night progressed K VIBES and MARSHALL ONE joined the session. Through a terrible storm we dropped riddim after riddim and rode the storm out! A few months back we concocted this killer mix of RUDE BWOY SKA for the great shop and website called OI POLLOI -- WWW.OIPOLLOI.COM -- out of Manchester, ENGLAND. When Oi Polloi asked us if we would do a CD for them, we were thrilled as it is a shop with a true sense of identity and aesthetics that we felt meshed well with us here at Deadly Dragon Sound. For this CD we reached way deep into the vaults for vocal and instrumental Jamaican R&B, Ska and early Rocksteady that spoke of the rudebwoy culture that was developing in Kingston in the mid to late 60s. This ya podcast is in honor of our newest reissues -- JAH ROOTS - GONE A FOREIGN and JAH ROOTS & BIGGY RANKS - CLEAN UP YOUR KINGDOM. Last year we found a deeply beat up copy of the original DUKE 7" and underneath all the scratches and hiss, we heard a brilliant digital roots tunes...HEAVY, driving bassline with classic Waterhouse style vocals. On our next trip down to Jamaica, we were able to locate JAH ROOTS who it turns out, also produced the tune. Apparently he had recorded his vocal in the 80s but never released it until the early 90s at which time he recorded his combination with Biggy Ranks as well a next tune pon the riddim, ROLEX - TELL ME TEACHER.
