RUDE BWOY SKA MIX for OI POLLOI!
13/04/2010 Duração: 01h04minA few months back we concocted this killer mix of RUDE BWOY SKA for the great shop and website called OI POLLOI -- WWW.OIPOLLOI.COM -- out of Manchester, ENGLAND. When Oi Polloi asked us if we would do a CD for them, we were thrilled as it is a shop with a true sense of identity and aesthetics that we felt meshed well with us here at Deadly Dragon Sound. For this CD we reached way deep into the vaults for vocal and instrumental Jamaican R&B, Ska and early Rocksteady that spoke of the rudebwoy culture that was developing in Kingston in the mid to late 60s. As always Deadly Dragon plays chune the way chune supposed to be played -- Pure vinyl thing...no serato...no CDs...no Computer Edits -- 2 turntables, mixer and effects - BIG PEOPLE STYLE! Check www.deadlydragonsound.com for alla your reggae needs! And make sure to check www.eastvillageradio.com each and every Monday from 6-8 pm for Deadly Dragon Sounds live and direct! Nuff Respect! And thanks to OI POLLOI for sponsoring this mix!*********************

DEADLY DRAGON SOUND inna PARK HEIGHTS STYLE!
23/03/2010 Duração: 01h17minYessss indeed! This ya PODCAST is a celebration of our most recent collaboration with the great PARK HEIGHTS label from right here in BROOKLYN, NYC!!! Ya See wha me a say?!?!?!? Think back and reflect of the great years of NYC reggae...yesss...Let us now bow our heads and give a three fisted Brap Brap Brap gun salute to those golden years!!!!! There was a time in the 80s and 90s when New York City could stand head to head with Kingston as the hottest place for dancehall music....clubs like Q Club, Reggae Lounge, Love People, Biltmore Ballroom ran things at night while during the day Utica Avenue, Fulton and Church was like MUSIC CENTRAL with tons of record stores and labels booming up the big tunes for the people. New York had its own sound and its own artists, and one of the finest spots was the store called PARK HEIGHTS ran by Delroy Francis and his wife Flavia. The two of them ran one of the hottest stores and from early on began producing a slew of unique records both Roots, Digital and dancehall. Del

Last year we found a deeply beat up copy of the original DUKE 7" and underneath all the scratches and hiss, we heard a brilliant digital roots tunes...HEAVY, driving bassline with classic Waterhouse style vocals. On our next trip down to Jamaica, we were able to locate JAH ROOTS who it turns out, also produced the tune. Apparently he had recorded his vocal in the 80s but never released it until the early 90s at which time he recorded his combination with Biggy Ranks as well a next tune pon the riddim, ROLEX - TELL ME TEACHER. Well, the man had his tapes still, so we put it all together and BOOOM! the exclusive 7" vinyl reissues will be out January 21st on Duke/Deadly Dragon and ONLY available at www.deadlydragonsound.com. For this ya podcast, we put together a tuff mix of obscure 90s roots and culture that have that serious RUMBLE!!! Consciousness from the depths of th

DEADLY DRAGON SOUND - THE STRUGGLER PODCAST!!!!!!!
02/11/2009 Duração: 58minOn November 2nd Deadly Dragon Sound is proud to announce their latest limited edition reissue: Ujama / Deadly Dragon Link Up part 4!: Manchez - The STRUGGLER!!! We were so proud of this reissue that we have put together this podcast in celebration of its release:Manchez - Struggler on Ujama / Deadly Dragon Sound 7". Limited Edition Reissue available only at www.deadlydragonsound.com. A few months ago we found this Manchez 7" and were simply blown away -- it is rare for us to find a record that we have NEVER seen and even rarer when that tune is simply brilliant. A total unknown, Manchez combined the urgency of such great 80s singjays as Courtney Melody, Half Pint and Pinchers to create this fiery slab of Digital Righteousness that rides over a driving version of MPLA! When we went to Jazzbo, he could barely remember who Manchez was but had no problem locating the tapes for us alongside a KILLER dub version. ENJOY!!!!!!!!! http://www.deadlydragonsound.com/v3_records_info.php?id=18616 TRACKLIST1. Manchez - St
