Your Favorite Album

Author and all-around good dude, Brian Diaz dropped by my office to talk about Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" and how his world was changed while in a Burlington Coat Factory. As an adult, Diaz (I don't think I've ever called him Brian) ended up working for Guns N' Roses, so we also talk about how that affected him after having spent so many years loving and absorbing this album.

Until I recorded this episode, I could safely say that I didn't know anyone that had seen Creed, Yanni, AND David Hasselhoff in concert. Patrick Fischer decided that he would be on the show and turn my world upside down by revealing he had indeed seen all three. He's talking about Alli With An I's "I Learned It By Watching You" on this week's episode, an album by a band I'd never heard of but really enjoyed once I gave it a listen.

Two weeks after "Clarity", Jimmy Eat World's already got another favorite album nod on the show with "Bleed American", that was fast! My buddy Ashley Cook stopped by my office to talk about why this is her favorite album, and also cats and stuff.

Cartoonist Jeff Manley and I run in some of the same circles, and sometimes that's all you need to set up a podcast recording. He hit me up on Twitter and said he could talk about Faith No More's "The Real Thing" for about an hour, so we scheduled a time and went from there. Being the first guest that I didn't really know on a personal level, I was curious as to how the conversation would go, turned out to be a lot of fun.

It was only a matter of time before someone went with a Jimmy Eat World album. This week, my buddy Matt Meola is on the podcast talking about "Clarity", an album that is loved by many, and solid from beginning to end.

Joining the podcast this week is my basketball teammate and friend, Thornton Mountford. He took it upon himself to educate me on "Don't Believe The Truth", an Oasis album that happens to be neither of the two that I knew existed.

My longtime friend and frequent collaborator, Pete The Retailer of the Star Wars Minute podcast, as well as the Nerd Geek Dork podcast (which I co-host) is on the show this week. He took time out of his busy schedule to walk the 75 feet from his desk to the conference room at our office, and talk with me about the groundbreaking album "Chipmunk Punk".

For this week's installment of the show, my pal (and the pen behind the awesome Brooklyn Magazine column "Bands with Pans") Beca Grimm invited me into her possibly haunted Greenpoint apartment to talk about the Pixies' "Surfer Rosa". It's an album that most people have heard at least once in their lives, or maybe they'll just recognize one of the songs from being in Fight Club. I had a good time recording this episode, and Beca even hooked me up with a bottle of homemade wine after we finished recording!

We're back! This time around, we're joined by A Great Big Pile of Leaves' Tyler Soucy, a man who lives and breathes ice cream, yet somehow still finds the time to be an amazing drummer. Tyler's dropping some knowledge about Days Away's "Mapping An Invisible World", an album that I had never heard of at the time of this recording but afterwards purchased, and immediately fell in love with. We ramble a bit, and for some reason talk about Limp Bizkit more than I would have expected.

It's the first episode, and Rob Wilcox is the first guest! We sit down and chat about one of his favorite albums of all time, Piebald's "We Are The Only Friends We Have".
