Silk TV Review with Emma from the Pause Live Action blog
21/03/2011 Duração: 03minSilk: Top briefs Courtroom drama plus lots of ambition, scheming and sex. It’s not surprising there are so many successful TV shows with legal settings. Glenn Close in Damages wins the goddess of deviousness prize for me, and James Spader inBoston Legal pretty much covers sex. I confess to also enjoying quite a lot ofAlly McBeal especially when Robert Downey Jnr came on board. The 1995 Steve Bochco series, Murder One, was terrific in its day. And it was the opening ‘fractured screen’ credit sequence of Murder One that came to mind when I first started watching the BBC barrister drama Silk. Silk’s credits feature images fractured by wafting strands of the pink ‘silk’ that surround barristers’ briefs. But despite being as big a fan of Maxine Peake as the rest of the nation, I was a bit dubious about Silk after the first episode. I really like the Lincolns Inn/Middle Temple setting – I used to walk

True Blood Series 3 Episode 10 - Emma with a review from the Pause Live Action blog
21/03/2011 Duração: 06minWarning! This review contains a jolly big spoiler. So if you’ve somehow already managed to avoid the million websites that contain this selfsame spoiler, you might want to move on. After last week’s superlative episode it was going to be a challenge for this one to match up, and it didn’t. Too many scenes went on way too long, especially that boring V-trip taken by Lafayette and Jesus. If there’s anything more dullsville than watching two acid-heads staggering round an imaginary seventh dimension wearing dumb-ass expressions of wide-eyed wonder, I’ve yet to find it. Ok, scenes involving Crusty Crystal come close. I guess Jesus’s grandfather being into black magic will become relevant, but the thought of it makes me tired. Can’t Laf and Jes go to the gym and out for a yummy meal and have a nice time together? Do they have to get tangled up in yet another scary storyline? Sam’s dark past also went on way too long, and seemed designed purely to try and just

Pause Live Action Review of Heston's Mission Impossible
21/03/2011 Duração: 03minEmma reviews Heston Blumenthal's TV prog Heston's Mission Impossible Heston’s Mission Impossible: The Navy Lark I find it fascinating that Heston Blumenthal admits to once having had a serious problem with anger, because I keep witnessing him demonstrating the patience of saint in the current Mission Impossible series. This three Michelin starred chef, whose Fat Duck establishment has been voted ‘best restaurant in the world’, has taken on a series of challenges that seem frankly insane (hence the title), and put him in situations where he repeatedly gets bitch-slapped by ignorant, arrogant fools. I have vowed never to step over the door of Cineworld after watching how vilely money-grabbing and unpleasant their management team seemed to be. The British Airways one was more interesting, but it left me wondering why it took his presence for them to realise that food tastes different in the air than on the ground. He’s a smart chap, Heston. Excellent little grey c
