Sinopse

We are a spiritual community that blesses all teachings and all spiritual teachers. We know that there is no wrong way to worship, whether it be lighting a candle, facing the east, burning incense, repeating a mantra, lighting a menorah, or offering prayer. We respect all the ways there are to draw closer to Spirit, for even though there may appear to be great differences in the path, the destination is the same. --- As an expression of our community, this podcast offers you weekly messages on the principles and practice of spiritual living delivered by Dr. Patrick Cameron and various guest speakers. We are the Centre for Spiritual Living in Edmonton, Alberta.

Episódios

  • God Speaks to the Heart

    15/04/2018 Duração: 44min

The intellect is not the creative factor in the universe. Rather, it is feeling that is creative. God speaks to the heart through a language of feeling, a feeling which is affirmative. The best psychological balance is between the intellect and the heart, because the intellect can give a certain definite form to feeling. But unless the feeling is there, the intellect will have merely provided the empty mould. We want not only to feel but to think. We wish not only to think but also to feel. Another way to say this is this: "Love makes the world go around, but the Law keeps us from getting dizzy."

  • Teen Sunday: Transforming Lives through Authentic Living

    08/04/2018 Duração: 46min

We are here to transform lives, starting with the journey of rediscovering the truth for ourselves. Accept yourself as you are in this moment. Let how you are right now be okay. Once we learn to be authentic, we can explore ourselves and figure out what resonates with this one. This expands outwards to the whole world. Second, we learn open-hearted living. We impact those around us by being our authentic self and living with an openness. We create ripples!

  • Easter for Metaphysicians

    01/04/2018 Duração: 35min

How do we do Easter as metaphysicians? We interpret scripture metaphorically and metaphysically. There is a meaning upon the words. It's all Spirit, it's all God. In this dualistic world that we fall asleep in, what is happening is that this Icon, this Idea, is giving Itself to the world to bring forth the light of Radiance into the world and to reveal that nothing is separate from Divinity. Jesus' story of death and resurrection is a story of new orientation. When the self has been annihilated and drops away, we witness a resurrection, we realize a new orientation. We are no longer the centre of our own individual lives. Easter is a wonderful metaphor about living from the Christed consciousness. As Dr. Ernest Holmes said, "Jesus was not the great exception---he was the great example. And as the human gives way to the Divine, in all people, they become the Christ."

  • Visioning and the Emergination

    25/03/2018 Duração: 43min

Following Derek Rydall's Emergence, Dr. Patrick leads us through an exercise of activating our "emerginations", to help us discover and process our soul's purpose. He then gifts us with a Rumi poem about breaking up the soil, a metaphor on how breaking our old patterns is necessary to cultivate the life energy of our soul. "Our spirit needs to follow the changes happening in the spacious place it knows about. There, the scene is always new, a clairvoyant river of picturing, more beautiful than any on earth."

  • God's Will

    18/03/2018 Duração: 47min

To the scientific mind, the will of God is manifest in the immutable laws of the universe. For the overzealous religious, their definition of the will of God appears to come through some special revelation giving birth to a certain spiritual system of thought which forever after is to be taken dogmatically and accepted without question, a truth and a faith once and for all delivered. But it is evident that God's will and God's nature must be identical. If the nature of God is limitation and bondage, then the will of God must be limitation and bondage. When we use the word God, we mean the Great Reality. The Infinite Unity. The Final Truth back of all manifest life. The Absolute and Causeless Cause. The One Unconditioned Complete and Perfect Being. Indivisible, Changeless, and Whole. If the nature of God, or Reality, were unhappiness, then the will of God would be toward unhappiness. But to suppose that the nature of God could be toward any form of limitation is to suppose not only an inconsistency, but an imp

  • The Complete You

    11/03/2018 Duração: 38min

We, like all others, are seeking the joy of living. This urge is in every individual; it is in every thing. Life has entered into us and, with it, the irresistible impulse to create. Socrates called it Spirit. Jesus called it Father in Heaven. Some ancients called it Atman. Why not just call it Me? The Complete Me. This is the Infinite Presence, and we are It.

  • The God We Believe In or The God Who Is?

    04/03/2018 Duração: 25min

This Sunday, Rev. Tammie Banting considers the difference between and the merits of worshipping the God we believe in or the God Who Is. The God who is believed in is, at times, some part of the God Who Is. Therefore whatever God we believe in---provided we believe this God is already in us---must respond to us at the level of our belief. It is done unto each of us as we believe. The principle is infallible. The practice is what we make it. She also asks whether we see Dr. Patrick as an ordinary professional minister or as a spiritual superhero---red tights, cape, and all!

  • Belief, Faith, and Prayer

    25/02/2018 Duração: 44min

Belief is a certain way of thinking, it is an activity of consciousness. Faith is an affirmative mode of thought that says "I can" as opposed to "I can't" or "I shall not". Prayerful communion ascends to that place Where unity has not yet become variety, Where the unformed One is ready to take any specific shape. In this act of communion, the individual Becomes co-partner with the Eternal And gives birth to time, space, and conditions. -- Dr. Ernest Holmes Dr. Patrick weaves together these three concepts into an awareness and insight on how they can pertain, assist, and transform our lives in 2018.

  • What is Spirituality?

    18/02/2018 Duração: 41min

In today's talk, Dr. Patrick touches on the artist's mentality, the experience, and how to take offense the right way. Spirituality is a rather elusive thing. We can touch it through an artist's mentality. The Artist feels beauty, senses its presence, and to a degree communes with it. In the same way, we can find a communion with the Invisible Harmony, the Supreme Being, the Mind, the Heart of God, or the Creative Essence.

  • To Be Spiritually Awakened

    11/02/2018 Duração: 31min

We are the ever-expanding Principle of Conscious Intelligence. -- Ernest Holmes Today's talk is given by Dr. Jane Simmons, an ordained Unity minister, author of You Can't Sleep Through Your Awakening. She reminds us, as Gurdjieff wrote, "We can't unconsciously become conscious." Let us not forget, we are spiritual beings having spiritual business to transact on this physical plane. We came here to really embody this truth, that we are Spirit expressing Itself in a body.

  • To Be Human is to Embody a Paradox

    04/02/2018 Duração: 44min

Digging into Ernest Holmes' book Living the Science of Mind Dr. Patrick looks at the chapter entitled "Self-Awareness is Not Enough". The three main points are: paradox, self-awareness, and self expression. A paradox is a statement or situation that defies logic. Our big paradox is that we are human and yet we are divine. We are here in complete freedom. We can choose to be a vessel for Spirit or not. Self-awareness clears the track for right action---self-expression.

  • How to Use It

    28/01/2018 Duração: 40min

Three key areas of focus: Prove It. If there is any field of research where the practical application is necessary, it is in the metaphysical field. Even when It's not working, It's working. Our embodied beliefs are always supported. For example, if we believe It doesn't work, It proves Itself to us by not working. We explore three genius practices where genius is developed and revealed: Ten minutes of deep, insightful reflection per day. Twenty minutes of insightful and meaningful reading per day. Thirty minutes of deep, clear focus every day.

  • What It Does

    21/01/2018 Duração: 41min

Focusing on the classic Science of Mind textbook authored by Dr. Ernest Holmes, Dr. Patrick looks at Chapter 3, "What It Does". He discusses three main points: Energy unceasingly seeking an outlet. This power requires our receptivity. Our embodied belief is the only signal this Infinite Intelligence can and will respond to. If we seek to alter conditions and experiences, then it must first begin with our own consciousness. We practice the releasing the old to make way for the new possibility and opportunity.

  • The Amazing You

    21/01/2018 Duração: 51min

Inspired by Dan Zadra's book 5 - Where Will You Be Five Years From Today?, Dr. Patrick looks at three areas of focus: Chunk it---break the goal or intention down into manageable pieces. Your success team---gathering the people and support around you to help you achieve your goals. The amazing you---a call to see your true essence, creativity, potential, and unlimited capacity. Yes you can!

  • The Way It Works

    14/01/2018 Duração: 39min

For years, the Centre for Spiritual Living Edmonton has had two services each Sunday: one at 10:00 am and one at 11:30 am. Starting in 2018, Dr. Patrick will be giving two different messages. The early services will focus on the fundamentals taught by our founder, Ernest Holmes, and the Science of Mind textbook. Today, we discuss the second chapter entitled "The Way It Works." How does the creative process respond to the individual's level of faith, receptivity, and collaboration? We must sow our seeds in faith. It is impersonal. Good is without bounds. It can only work for us by working through us! Let us accept more good into our lives today than we did yesterday.

  • If We Don't Have a Dream, How Can Our Dreams Come True?

    14/01/2018 Duração: 46min

Using Dan Zadra's book 5 - Where Will You Be 5 Years from Today?, Dr. Patrick looks at the importance of writing down our personal mission statement. Only we can write it, and only we can live it. It should be grounded upon our top five values. Write it with the awareness that mindfulness and balance are important. Be specific, and think big!

  • The Thing Itself

    07/01/2018 Duração: 42min

Highlighting 100 years of the Science of Mind by focusing on Chapter 1 in Dr. Ernest Holmes' monumental work, The Science of Mind. Three areas of focus: The Divine Plan The Love and the Law Objective (conscious) and Subjective (subconscious) states of awareness The Divine Plan is one of Freedom. The Love and the Law is available and expressed through every individual because it is a definite principal. We plant seeds of possibility with our Objective (Conscious) Mind and our Subjective (Subconscious) Mind to demonstrate and reveal the intention set by conscious mind.

  • Transforming Lives through the Power of Vision

    07/01/2018 Duração: 39min

The best day of our life is the day that we claim it as our own. To take responsibility for the direction that our lives will take. Everybody needs a mission statement. Goals and Dreams. Where will we be five years from today? What will we do with the time we have over the next five years? What are our top five values? Research shows the importance of writing down our goals and consistently revisiting them. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go." -- Dr. Seuss Our imaginations are just the preview to life's coming attractions. -- Einstein If we don't have a dream, how can our dream come true? A goal is a dream set to paper. Don't just think it---ink it!

  • The Mythic Christmas

    31/12/2017 Duração: 41min

The story of the birth of Jesus is one of going through the deepest darkness and finding fresh radiance. That radiance comes from the courage to walk towards the things that scare us. Jesus' birth coincides with the return of the light to the world and the renewing of life. By taking on the Christ Consciousness---the personification of the Presence of God---we become the light of the world. If we find ourselves in a dark place right now, know that the dark place is where grace goes to be reborn.

  • The Christmas Radiance

    24/12/2017 Duração: 26min

Luke tells the story of the birth of Jesus as a message of hope; when we think there is no turning around, keep going. When the angel Gabriel appears to Zacharias, he questions it. When the angel appears to Mary, she is willing and simply asks, "What must I do?" Mary and Joseph represent what must change for a new shift to take place. They went through great hardships because of Jesus---they were cast out of their tribe, lost their privileges, and were rejected. Like Mary, we are all pregnant with the Christ, and we can choose to have faith and hope and be willing to go through some darkness in order to experience the new radiance.
