The detours of life (Acts 16:6-10) Detours in life are those unexpected changes that put us in places we never planned for.  God uses these detours to position us for His greater purposes.   God positioned the Apostle Paul through detours and delays on his missionary journey.  Today God uses the detours of life to position us for purposes greater than we can imagine.  Watch for the detours, view them as opportunities rather than delays!  Continue the conversation. The focus this week is the outrageous forgiveness that is available through the sacrifice of Jesus at the Cross.  The issues of being too bad or too good for salvation have been removed by Jesus.  Anyone can be forgiven.   Continue the conversation.  The sermon on May 22nd is the 8th in the Still Restless series.  It focuses on the Blind Man of John 9.  The story is about Jesus, the Light of the World and the healing of the blind man's physical eyes and the eyes of his heart.  It draws a distinct contrast between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light.  It also is a warning to all who think the darkness is something they can control and dance with.   Continue the conversation. The message this week is about the women at the well and the kingdom of shame. It touches the issues of those who think they are too sinful to enter the kingdom of God. Some shame based self image comes from others, some from ourselves...but all forms can produce a strong negative kingdom.   The Kingdom of religious performance is based on chapter eight in Still Restless....At Odds with God. The modern story of a religious leader, who turned away from a relationship with Christ. In oder to not risk his religious kingdom, is sad. But it reveals how bright, ambitious people, can go there. Saul of Tarsus and his salvation conversation with Jesus is timeless. We can convince ourselves that in order to believe in Christ and follow Him we have to be willing to be anti-intellectual. This is one of the biggest lies promoted by modern culture.
